Once upon a time, before ever this world was made,
there was neither earth nor sea, nor air, nor light,
but only a great yawning gulf, full of twilight,
where these things should be.

IMPOSSIBLE WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT
“Today I escaped from the crush of circumstances, or better put, I threw them out, for the crush
wasn’t from outside me but in my own assumptions.”
—MARCUS AURELIUS, MEDITATIONS, 9.13
n tough days we might say, “My work is overwhelming,” or “My boss is really frustrating.” If only
we could understand that this is impossible. Someone can’t frustrate you, work can’t overwhelm
you—these are external objects, and they have no access to your mind. Those emotions you feel, as real
as they are, come from the inside, not the outside.
The Stoics use the word hypolêpsis, which means “taking up”—of perceptions, thoughts, and
judgments by our mind. What we assume, what we willingly generate in our mind, that’s on us. We can’t
blame other people for making us feel stressed or frustrated any more than we can blame them for our
jealousy. The cause is within us. They’re just the target.

Existentialism (ኅልውነት)
Most religions and philosophies believe that human life has meaning or a purpose. Because of this belief, people often seek to fulfill or discover that purpose. However, in contrast, existentialist philosophy argues that human life has no predetermined meaning or purpose prior to existence. In other words, before a person exists (before becoming a living being), there is no written meaning or purpose for their life.
Therefore, the main philosophical concern becomes the question:
“How should each individual give meaning and purpose to their own life?”
According to Søren Kierkegaard, who is often considered the father of existentialism,
“Every individual has the responsibility to give meaning to their own life and to live it sincerely and fully aware.”

Existentialism explores human experiences such as hopelessness, existential anxiety, isolation, despair, and meaninglessness—experiences that often confront humanity. But instead of fleeing from these, existentialism focuses on how to confront and overcome them.
It teaches that life has no inherent meaning and that its purpose is unknowable—until each individual personally assigns a meaning or purpose to it.
In other words:
Existence comes before essence — not the other way around.
This is the key idea in existentialist philosophy. It means:
A person is not born with a predetermined identity or purpose.
Only after existing—after becoming alive—do they create their own identity through their life choices.
Each individual, using conscious awareness, writes their own value and meaning in life.

Big congrats to Emebet Mehabaw 🔥
She just got selected as a candidate to be the first Ethiopian astronaut — how amazing is that!
We first saw her during the Orion Space opening session, and even then, you could feel her passion and energy for space. She was full of ambition, and now look — she’s been chosen for the Titans Genesis Spaceplane mission with Titan Space Industries, set for 2029!
This is such a proud moment for all of us 🇪🇹 Can’t wait for her to share her journey with the group — it’s gonna inspire so many people

Here is another crazy thing I read. The universe is expanding but it is expanding into nothing.

Here is another thing the universe has no centre or edge.
Timeless wisdom
“For there are two rules to keep at the ready—that there is nothing good or bad outside my own
reasoned choice, and that we shouldn’t try to lead events but to follow them.”
—EPICTETUS, DISCOURSES, 3.10.18
Remember, each individual has a choice. You are always the one in control. The cause of irritation—
or our notion that something is bad—that comes from us, from our labels or our expectations. Just as
easily, we can change those labels; we can change our ennoscriptment and decide to accept and love what’s
happening around us. And this wisdom has been repeated and independently discovered in every century
and every country since time began.
