Bespoke UI

Speaker: Robel Mezemir
Founder, Odit

Robel is an incredible full-stack developer, and founder of one of the most comprehensive and SMS based financial analysis tool called Odit.

It takes a few simple things to get UI to be tolerable, yet 80% of people fail to do that. So we should talk about the effort needed to get your app to the 80th percentile and what to do to make it an "experience" instead of an app.

In this talk, he'll show us examples of bad design, bare minimum design and great design. He'll also show us what his workflow is to build half-decent UI. If you're into building exceptional UI/UX this's the talk for you! Super excited.

Deserveddd 🔥

It’ll be great to see him up there for once, instead of hearing him complain about his back hurting from sitting on the floor.

Designing Visuals That Move

Speaker: Eyuel Zerabruk
Motion Designer

Eyuel is an exceptional motion designer with years of experience in The Bible Project Amharic, different startups, and huge government projects. When you're touring Addis Ababa during national events, there's a huge chance you've encountered his designs.

Design is often reduced to how things look (logos, posters, colors, UI). But it is much bigger than that. whether visual or not; design is intention, it is the shaping of experiences, systems, tools, communication, and feeling.

Unlike static visuals, motion design introduces a non-spatial dimension: time! This includes rhythm, pacing, continuity, and change. In his first talk ever, we'll break down what it means to design in time, and touch on a couple of basic animation principles that make motion feel so yummy.

If you're a designer that involves motion, this is an absolute gem of a talk. So much to learn and experience. I'm super excited!

i just finished a client's site and i was like ... i managed myself thru an over a month long process , delivering and also communicating updates with the client and like the client loved the output a lot that they extended their contract a couple more months.

bro i could be a project manager at this point no ?

PM's eski tell me what I'm missing, because if its teamwork ive also done a similar thing with like a team of 6 before.

It was a triple combo:
Etsub threw a left swing with "Concept and Functionality"
I did an uppercut with "Designing Visuals That Move"
And Robi had the knockout blow with "Bespoke UI"

All three of our talks tackled the basic concepts of design, but with each of our specialties. An architect, a motion designer and a fantabulous (Blain taught me this wonky ahh word) UI designer; we were a great trio. It was an honor being a guest here.

Thank you all for the love and support! ☺️ #DagmawiBabisMeetup
