🗓 On May 8, 1967, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier memorial architectural ensemble in Alexander Garden near the Moscow Kremlin Wall was solemnly unveiled.

On December 3, 1966, a burial ceremony of the remains of an unknown soldier was held at the exact spot. These remains had previously rested in a mass grave at the 41st kilometre of the Leningrad Highway, where fierce battles were fought to defend Moscow against Nazi invaders.

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a monument to military glory, a symbol of eternal memory for the unnamed heroes who gave their lives, defending the Motherland.

🌟 Inscribed on the tombstone are the sacred words: "YOUR NAME IS UNKNOWN, YOUR HEROISM IS IMMORTAL." In front of it lies a five-pointed star and the Eternal Flame of Glory.

In 1997, by decree of the President of Russia, a guard of honour was established at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

On November 17, 2009, to preserve the historical and cultural heritage of the peoples of the Russian Federation, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was designated a National Memorial of Military Glory.

🕯 In 2014, in memory of the burial of the remains of the defender of Moscow in Alexander Garden (1966), December 3 was declared the Day of the Unknown Soldier.

⚡️ On the eve of the 80th Anniversary of Victory, the world gratefully remembers the heroic struggle of the Soviet people against Nazism. Music is a universal language that not only unites us and helps us better understand one another but also allows us to feel the pulse of history. Several musical groups from Zambia, India, Indonesia, China, Tanzania, and South Africa came together to perform the legendary song “The Sacred War” by composer Alexander Alexandrov and poet Vassily Lebedev-Kumach. The lead part was beautifully sung by a young girl named Liza from Russia.

🎧 Listen to the 'The Sacred War' classical rendition

🇷🇺
Arise, vast country,
Arise for a fight to the death!
Against the dark fascist force,
Against the cursed horde!

Let noble wrath
Boil over like a wave!
This is the people's war,
A Sacred War!

We shall repulse the oppressors
Of all ardent ideas,
The rapists and the plunderers,
The torturers of people!

Let noble wrath
Boil over like a wave!
This is the people's war,
A Sacred War!

The black wings shall not dare
Fly over the Motherland,
On her spacious fields;
The enemy shall not dare tread!

Let noble wrath
Boil over like a wave!
This is the people's war,
A Sacred War!

We'll drive a bullet into the forehead
Of the rotten fascist filth.
For the scum of humanity,
We shall build a solid coffin!

Let noble wrath
Boil over like a wave!
This is the people's war,
A Sacred War!

🇷🇺 Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation:

🌠 On the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the Great Victory, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation compiled a report titiled "You Haven't Forgotten Me Yet".

During the Great Patriotic War, millions of Soviet soldiers perished afar, fighting against Nazism beyond their homeland. They liberated European countries from fascism. They paved the way and led them to freedom.

For many decades after the war, their memory was cherished, their remains in mass graves were preserved and revered, obelisks and monuments to their deeds and military glory were erected and looked after all across Europe.

But no more... In recent years, these memorials have been vandalized, demolished and "relocated". On several occasions monuments have been even been dismantled with the remains of the dead exhumed and reburied.

In many cases, the demolition and desecration of memorials was carried out by the decision of the current-day authorities at various levels, all part of the ongoing efforts to rewrite history and subvert the historical truth. More often than not it is down at the behest of the descendants of those who lost then, Nazis & their cronies — now in power and seeking revenge.

The Investigative Committee of Russia has registered 167 such cases. And each of them is under official investigation.

"You Haven't Forgotten Me Yet" gives a sneak peak into the due process of the Russian investigators' work.

Touching memories of the descendants of the heroes, footage of operative filming of investigative actions, comments of official representatives of specialized ministries and agencies, historians and archivists — all this on the eve of the 80th Anniversary of the Great Victory in a special report of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
