⚡️ Foreign Ministry’s statement on retaliatory measures following EU restrictions against Russian media outlets

💬 In response to the May 17 decision of the EU Council, banning broadcasting by three Russian media outlets, including RIA Novosti, Izvestia MIC and Rossiyskaya Gazeta, effective from today, June 25, countermeasures are being introduced that limit access to broadcasting resources in the Russian Federation for media outlets of the EU member states and EU media operators that systemically spread false information about the special military operation.

The Russian Side has repeatedly warned at various levels that politically motivated persecution of Russian journalists and unjustified bans on Russian media outlets in the EU will not go unanswered.

This notwithstanding, Brussels and the capitals of the bloc’s countries preferred to further escalate the situation. By imposing another illegitimate ban, they forced Moscow to introduce symmetrical and proportional countermeasures. Responsibility for these developments rests solely with the EU leadership and the countries of this association that have supported this decision.

The Russian Side will revise its decision concerning the above-mentioned media operators, if restrictions against Russian media outlets are lifted.

👉 A list of media outlets of the EU member states and EU media operators, covered by retaliatory measures and restrictions limiting broadcasts and internet access on the territory of the Russian Federation.
🎙️Embassy comment on attempts to whitewash NATO's role in the ongoing European security crisis

︎We took note of the hypocritical attempt by the UK Ministry of Defence to portray NATO as a guardian of peace, security, and freedom, while casting Russia as the "aggressor".

︎This dubious claim is contradicted by basic post-Cold War facts. Primarily, the full-scale armed aggression by NATO against Yugoslavia in 1999, followed by the unlawful secession of part of its territory, in violation of the UN Charter and other fundamental norms of international law.

︎NATO's key member states were extensively engaged in aggressive campaigns against Iraq and Libya, employing the alliance's infrastructure and military capabilities to serve their aims. <...>

︎To this set of "achievements" should be added the infamous decisions of the 2008 NATO Summit in Bucharest, alleging that Ukraine and Georgia would eventually become members of NATO. <...>

︎The alliance's activities neither contain a positive agenda nor contribute to maintaining peace and security. A telling example is the abandonment of promises made to the leadership of the former USSR to create a space of common and indivisible security in Europe. Instead, the West chose a strategy of expanding its sphere of exclusive influence under NATO’s military-political umbrella. <...>

︎The leadership of the alliance and its key member states played a decisive role in igniting and sustaining the Ukrainian conflict, aimed solely at containing and inflicting a "strategic defeat" upon Russia. The unconstitutional coup d’etat in 2014 which brought into power Ukrainian nationalists with their Nazi cult of Bandera and Shukhevich; the burning of the Trade union house in Odessa; the eight-year military siege of Donbass and the blockade of Russian Crimea; the suppression of the Russian language and Orthodoxy; <...>

︎and, as of today, overt terrorist raids and shelling of peaceful Russian cities with NATO-supplied weapons, such as the strike on Sevastopol on Sunday – all these are links in a chain extending to Washington DC, London and Brussels.

☝️Attempts by the UK Ministry of Defence to cloak NATO's aggressive posture with "sheep’s clothing" of its own making are unconvincing. Russia has never threatened nor threatens any NATO country. On the contrary, as Western decision-makers and NATO officials continually tell us, it is NATO that has for many years been preparing for conflict with Russia.

In view of these circumstances our country will persevere in its efforts to assure its essential security interests on its western borders.

🎙️Embassy comment regarding the developments surrounding Julian Assange

︎We regard the release of Julian Assange from custody on June 24 in London as the rectification of one of the many injustices faced by the founder of WikiLeaks. Hopefully, this will enable the journalist to improve his severely compromised health due to his incarceration in a British prison and to resume a normal life.

︎Nevertheless, this event is evidently the result of agreements between Mr Assange and the US side, and it remains to be seen whether Washington DC will fulfill its part of the bargain. In any case British justice can claim no credit for this outcome. The authorities initially decided to deprive the journalist of his freedom and to extradite him, and subsequently missed the opportunity to take a principled stand against this unjust and illegitimate course of action.

︎Throughout these years, they have acted in the interests of the United States, undertaking the "dirty work" of isolating Mr Assange as part of a collective persecution that trampled on the fundamental principles of freedom of speech and human rights. Now, they have simply responded to a directive from across the Atlantic.

☝️The British government and judicial system will forever bear the responsibility for the more than five years that the founder of WikiLeaks spent in the harshest conditions of solitary confinement in a high-security prison, conditions more befitting terrorists, and the repercussions this has had for him personally and for his family, as well as for global journalism and independent media at large.

Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva, Ambassador Gennady Gatilov, on the OHCHR's reaction to the tragic events in Sevastopol and Dagestan:

📍 June 25, 2024

▪️ Two days have passed since the terrorist attacks in Sevastopol and Dagestan, which were different in execution but identical in nature. The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), albeit not with its usual "promptness”, has nevertheless responded to the crimes committed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and radical Islamists.

▪️ Regarding the shelling of a densely populated city in Crimea by the Kiev regime using American ATACMS with cluster warheads, which resulted in the deaths of children and injured over 150 people, the official spokesperson of the OHCHR, Liz Throssell, briefly noted that "the use of cluster munitions against populated areas is incompatible with the fundamental principles of international law of armed conflicts".

▪️ The official comment of the Office concerning the attack by militants on religious sites and law enforcement officers in Dagestan, which led to the death of 21 people, was expressed in a short "tweet". In it, the OHCHR deplored the loss of life and expressed hope that the perpetrators would be held accountable in line with humanitarian law.

▪️ The High Commissioner himself keeps his silence on the matter. It is quite possible that he considered it beneath his dignity to comment on the gruesome events in Russia — a country towards which he harbors an obvious bias. However, it is more likely that Volker Türk is being cautious due to his fear of provoking the ire of Kiev, and therefore the displeasure of Washington, the interests and agenda of which he actively promotes.

❗️ Once again, we urge the High Commissioner and his Office not to engage in "pretend impartiality", but to actually condemn the obvious crimes and human rights violations that they are so concerned about in all other cases. Then it would be in line with the tasks and mandate of the OHCHR and its leadership.

Today at 12.15, a terrorist missile strike by five U.S.-made ATACMS operational-tactical missiles equipped by cluster warheads was deliberately delivered at Sevastopol.

The alerted air defence units intercepted four U.S.-made ATACMS missiles. The explosion of the fragmentation warhead of the fifth U.S.-made missile in the air led to high number of casualties among peaceful residents of Sevastopol.

The American specialists input all flight tasks in the U.S.-made ATACMS operational-tactical missiles on the basis of data of the U.S. satellite reconnaissance.

That is why Washington is mostly responsible for the deliberate missile strike at peaceful residents of Sevastopol by delivering this weaponry to Ukraine, as well as the Kiev regime, from the territory of which the strike was launched.

Such actions are not going to be left unanswered.

🎙 Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s answer to a media question regarding missile strikes of the Kiev regime targeting Lugansk and the Kherson Region

Question: Today, the Kiev regime carried out yet more attacks on civilians in Lugansk and the Kherson Region, resulting in the loss of many innocent lives. What is the Foreign Ministry’s take on these terrorist attacks?

💬 Maria Zakharova: Given the go-ahead from Washington to kill civilians with Western weapons, the Kiev regime has once more revealed its inhumane Nazi nature.

On the morning of June 7, another cynical and bloody crime occurred: a terrorist attack on residential areas of Lugansk carried out by American ATACMS missiles.

Following this barbaric attack, three people lost their lives, while 35 others, including three children, sustained injuries, and destruction ensued. <...>

Later that evening, the Kiev regime targeted the village of Sadovoye in the Kherson Region, resulting in the loss of 19 lives, according to preliminary reports.

❗️ It’s imperative for the global community to understand that these were meticulously orchestrated and premeditated terrorist acts intended for intimidation. NATO’s involvement is glaringly apparent.

We are fully aware that the flight missions of long-range missiles, including ATACMS, are formed with direct involvement from American, British, and other Western specialists.

The indiscriminate and brutal shelling of populated areas in Donbass, the Belgorod, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, Crimea, and other Russian territories, along with the ruthless killing of civilians, lacks any military rationale. Instead, it underscores the desperation of Zelensky’s neo-Nazi regime, entangled in terrorism, lawlessness, corruption, and cynicism. Driven by impotent rage, they aim to kill as many Russians as possible.

☝️ It’s evident that amidst military setbacks, Zelensky aims to prove to his overseas masters that he is ready to commit any atrocity to safeguard their interests and his own survival.

🎬 Operation Ukraine: Terror on Demand — an RT Doc Film.

Synopsis: In August 2022, Russian journalist Daria Dugina was killed in a car bomb attack organised by the Ukrainian authorities. Two months later, an explosion rocked the Crimean Bridge that links the Crimean peninsula to Russia’s mainland. The massive blast was attributed to Ukrainian sabotage groups. April 2, 2023, war correspondent Maxim Fomin, also known as Vladlen Tatarsky, was killed in a bomb blast in St Petersburg.

❗️ According to the officially released data, Russian security services regularly foil dozens of subversive acts, terrorist attacks and acts of sabotage.

The documentary takes a close look at methods used by Ukraine’s Security Service, tracing their roots back to the 1940s. It also sheds light on ties between Ukrainian nationalist leaders and American intelligence agencies.

Declassified documents revealed details of the "Operation Aerodynamic" by the US, , through which Washington funded and directed Ukrainian nationalists' fight aka campaign of terror against the Soviet Union. In the documentary, historians draw parallels between nationalists past and present.

#NoStatuteOfLimitations
🇷🇺🇺🇸 Ambassador Anatoly Antonov’s answer to a media question

: Dear Mr Ambassador, how would you comment on the lack of reaction by US authorities to the ATACMS missile attack on civilians in Crimea?

💬 Anatoly Antonov : The administration demonstratively supports the crimes of the Kiev regime. It took the side of international terrorism. Condones attacks on civilians by Bandera’s adherents.

• There is no justification for the bloody acts of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The crimes were committed purposefully during the concentration of the maximum number of Russians on the shore. The bandits did not even hesitate to kill women and children on a Christian holiday, revered by all.

• Washington's attempts to silence the terrible crime against Russian citizens cause anger and indignation. Americans cannot sit overseas and escape responsibility for the blood and tears of innocent people.

• The supply of American weapons to the puppets, giving them the right to attack civilians, only testifies to the desire of the local authorities to continue the war, regardless of human casualties. It is obvious to policymakers in Washington that cluster munitions in ATACMS missiles cannot be launched without the participation of American specialists and support from US intelligence. It is no coincidence that enemy drones are circling over the Black Sea almost every day.

• All this indicates the death of America’s pseudo-humane foreign policy in the bloody swamp of the Ukrainian crisis. It becomes almost impossible for Russophobes to justify their direct involvement in the conflict in the post-Soviet space.

• We express our sincere condolences to the relatives and friends of those killed and wounded in today's terrorist attack. We wish speedy recovery to the injured. We are confident that the Nazis will receive a harsh response at the front. And not only there.

Ukrainian security services has long ago adopted terrorism as a their working tool, aimed, among other things, at increasing global confrontation. Since 2016, the Ukrainian regime has been consistently increasing the attempts to commit terrorist attacks and acts of sabotage against military and civilian sites in Russia.

When the special military operation began, the Ukrainian special services’ terrorist activity has taken on an unprecedented nature.

The attacks target the railway network and infrastructure using unmanned aircraft in the border areas and deep in the country.

❗️ The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Defence Ministry and the Security Service of Ukraine are behind the acts of sabotage.

The strategic objective of said acts is to inflict a military-political defeat on Russia, as well as maximum economic losses.

⚠️ The barbaric murders of Russian journalists Darya Dugina and Maxim Fomin (Vladlen Tatarsky), and Prosecutor-General of the Lugansk People’s Republic Sergey Gorenko served the same purposes. This also includes attempts on the lives of writer Zakhar Prilepin, the heads of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions Yevgeny Balitsky and Vladimir Saldo, Interior Minister of the Lugansk People’s Republic Igor Kornet and First Deputy Head of the Kherson Region Vitaly Bulyuk.

👉 Considering the methods used at the level of official government bodies, the Kiev regime and the Ukrainian security services display the attributes of a terrorist entity at the government level, which is above and beyond humanistic concepts of what the state and society are all about. In fact, we are witnessing the creation of an aggressive ISIS-like terrorist regime, with the direct participation of the United States and a US-controlled pack of cronies, in the centre of Europe.

7️⃣9️⃣ years ago, on June 26, 1945, The United Nations Charter was signed, which became the main result of the San Francisco Conference.

This fundamental document was signed by 50 participating countries, including the USSR as well as its constituent entities: the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic and the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic. On behalf of the USSR, the UN Charter was signed by Andrey Gromyko.

The establishing of the UN – a universal international organization, the main goals of which are defined as the maintenance and strengthening of peace and security – was a natural consequence of the Second World War, an expression of the desire of the world community to resolve conflicts without global military action.

📃 The UN Charter is a fundamental international document mandating the main principles and norms of states’ international behaviour and regulating relations between states as well as the activities of UN agencies and organisations within its system.

🇺🇳 Today, the UN comprises 1️⃣9️⃣3️⃣ Member States, with its activities embracing every sphere of the planet’s international, political, economic, social, cultural, and humanitarian life through its specialised agencies, committees and sub-committees.

🇷🇺 Russia invariably remains committed to multilateralism and the UN’s coordinating role in world affairs, and is actively involved in the effort to reform and adapt the UN to new international realities.

🎙 From Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's remarks during the UN Security Council open debate on "Effective Multilateralism through the Protection of the Principles of the UN Charter" (New York, April 24, 2023):

💬 It is our shared responsibility to preserve the UN as the enduring model of multilateralism and coordination of world politics. The key to success is working together, refusing to claim exclusivity and - I repeat once again - respecting the sovereign equality of states. This is what we all signed up to when we ratified the UN Charter.

❗️The terrible tragedy caused by a heinous terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall on March 22, 2024, has shocked Russia and the international community. It has also put the issue of large-scale public terror back on the agenda <...>.

The majority of countries worldwide demonstrated a natural human reaction to the tragedy, sending words of support and condolences to Russia and the Russian people.

At the same time, several hours after the tragedy, before the preliminary results of the investigation were made public and disregarding the unequivocal international condemnation of the attack, the Western media and US, UK and EU officials launched an information campaign to deny the Ukrainian security services’ involvement in that crime.

🗞 The editorial offices of the mainstream Western media were instructed to promote the version of the ISIS (forbidden in Russia) involvement in organising the attack in Krasnogorsk, to deny the possible connection between the Islamists and the Ukrainian government or Western security services, to discredit the results of investigation, and to advance various conspiracy theories about the alleged involvement of the Russian security services in the tragedy.

They were cautioned against showing sympathy and a humane attitude to the Russian people. An especially cynical part of the Western attempts to divert public attention from the real organisers and beneficiaries of the crime was the categorical instruction not to mention the real scale of the tragedy. <...>

☝️ However, the Crocus City Hall terrorist attack is far from the first terrorist attack on Russia in the recent past.

⚡️The Human Rights Situation in Ukraine (Report by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation)

❗️ This report continues the Ministry's efforts to draw the attention of the international community to the grave human rights situation in Ukraine. Right from the outset it should be noted that the human rights situation in Ukraine has been steadily deteriorating over recent years.

It is quite clear by now that Ukraine is ruled by an openly Nazi regime committing countless gross and systematic violations of human rights in all spheres of public life.

<...>

Kiev's Nazi approaches are being fully realized with regard to Ukraine's Russian-speaking population. Ukraine has banned everything Russian (language, culture, education, printed matter and media).

In the sphere of education, the process of derussification has reached its climax:

👎 Teaching in and study of Russian at schools is prohibited;
👎 All literature pieces of Russian and Soviet (except for Ukrainian) authors have been removed from the school literature programme;
👎 Books in Russian are withdrawn from libraries.;
👎 Schoolchildren and teachers are forbidden even to speak Russian not only in class, but also during personal communication at break;
👎 The government in Kiev not only supports but also authorizes attacks on churches of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

However, all these blatant human rights violations committed by Kiev are brushed under the rug or covered up by most Western NGOs and international human rights mechanisms.

<...>

☝️ As regards the situation in Ukraine, at this point we can say that by its actions Kiev only confirms a total lack of independence and shows itself to be a "puppet regime", carrying out the instructions of external handlers to create a Russophobic project ennoscriptd "Anti-Russia" out of its own country.

⚡️ Human Rights Situation in Certain Countries (The Joint Report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus)

The document aims to draw attention to the challenges and threats faced by the contemporary international community in the field of human rights.

👉 Read in full

📄 With regard to the human rights issues raised in the Report, our countries firmly believe that applying the so-called double-standards while assessing certain situations and phenomena remains a major challenge in this field. In this regard, it is very symptomatic that such an approach is increasingly being used by the countries of the collective West to fuel confrontation and exert pressure on sovereign States. <...>

We have repeatedly pointed out in international human rights forums and in thematic reports on human rights that a number of countries are openly promoting racist ideas and values, provoking the upsurge of radical nationalism. And this is happening despite the fact that there are legal mechanisms in place within the United Nations, the OSCE and a number of other international organizations aimed at countering the glorification of Nazism, racism, xenophobia and related intolerance.

❗️ However, such connivance is nothing new, especially since Western "model democracies" are no strangers to racist and neo-colonial views – examples abound in our time, and even more so in the history of the twentieth century, and particularly of World War II. Such duplicity of the West was demonstrated by the events of 2022 and its declared "crusade" against the "Russian world".

<...>

In the emerging new world, which should be based on a fairer system of international relations, the full realization of the principle of the sovereign equality of States and the historical, cultural, religious and national particularities of each country is essential. Only on that basis would the negative effects of colonialism, neo-colonial thinking, racism, racial discrimination and related intolerance be fully eradicated. This would prevent unlawful attempts by certain countries to "bring to heel" the international law system and use its universal human rights mechanisms to suit their own parochial and vested interests.

☝️ The negative examples from both the present and the recent past cited in the Report, which, for the most part, we are all well aware of, are a very strong evidence of the need to mobilize the entire constructive-minded international community to successfully confront these challenges.
⚡️ On the human rights situation in Norway - Joint Report of Russia’s and Belarus MFAs

🇳🇴 Norway has positioned itself as a country with a developed democratic tradition, proclaiming the protection of human rights as one of the main priorities of state policy.
❗️While in recent years the Norwegian authorities have assessed the human rights situation in the country as relatively trouble-free, the fact that human rights violations take place in Norway is recognized by relevant national and international institutions.

🗓 International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is observed around the globe on June 26.

Uniting the efforts of the international community to counter the drug threat is extremely important. The World Drug Report 2024 was released by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime today and states that the global drug situation has sharply worsened.

☝️ The Russian Federation believes that politicised field-specific cooperation caused by the propaganda of liberal drug use ideas by the US and its allies and actual termination of contacts with law enforcement agencies from undesirable countries are what mostly caused this aggravation.

<...>

🇷🇺 Russia advocates a comprehensive and balanced approach to solving the global drug problem which combines effective law enforcement efforts with science-based prevention of drug addiction, treatment and rehabilitation of drug users.

This approach is at odds with the legislative initiatives advanced by the US, Canada and a number of EU member states to lift the ban on the use and sale of marijuana, which create an illusion that drugs are harmless and pose a threat to promoting and protecting human rights, especially the rights of the children, who must be protected from the harmful effects of drugs.

<...>

🤝 The #CSTO, which is expanding its interoperability with the countries of Asia, remains Russia’s key strategic partner in combatting the drug challenge. The anti-drug capability of the #SCO has noticeably improved, and another six-year 2024-2029 SCO Anti-Drug Strategy and an action plan to implement it will be approved soon.

The anti-drug thrust is playing an increasingly tangible role in #BRICS. The 7th meeting of the BRICS Anti-Drug Working Group was held in Moscow on May 21-22 as part of Russia’s chairmanship. The anti-drug dialogue with #ASEAN is making strides based on the Joint Statement by the Leaders of Russia and the association’s Member States of October 2021.

⚡️ Issue #3 of the Bulletin on our activities of the Russian Federation Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights Maria Lvova-Belova to protect children during a special military operation (SMO) is available now in English on the official website of the Russian Federation Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Right.

The document contains information about activities of the Russian Federation Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the realization of the rights and interests of minors affected by the military actions.

The activities of the Commissioner are aimed at guaranteeing state protection of the rights and legitimate interests of children, the realization and observance of the rights and legitimate interests of children by state bodies, local government bodies, and officials.

The Commissioner promotes:

restoration of violated rights and legitimate interests of children;
improving legislation in the Russian Federation concerning the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of children;
international cooperation in protecting the rights and legitimate interests of children;
improving the forms and methods of protecting the rights and legitimate interests of children.

Another important area we are leading on the order of Russia's President Vladimir Putin is the reunification of children with their relatives in Ukraine, Russia and other countries. In total, we have already succeeded in reuniting 70 children with 52 families in Ukraine, not counting those children whose parents from Kherson, Zaporozhye, Kharkov regions and other territories in the fall of 2022 were sent by their own decision to the health camps in the Russian south and were unable to pick them up in time. Also, nine children were reunited with five families in Russia.

***

It doesn’t matter where or in what status a child is in Russia, in an orphanage, in a foster family, whether he or she has Russian citizenship or not. If he has a parent with full parental rights, the family has every opportunity to be reunited.

The Commissioner’s Office promptly assists all legal representatives of children. Such work has been done since the beginning of the SMO and is of an individual nature.

☝️ Since the beginning of the SMO, representatives of Ukrainian authorities have not officially contacted the Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights. It should be noted that Maria Lvova-Belova is open to interaction with the Ukrainian side, and if official requests were received, they would be considered.

Over time, a working channel of communication has developed between the Commissioner’s Office and Ukraine for the exchange of information, verification of data, and coordination of the reunification process. Work through this channel is regular and constructive.

📘 Read more about humanitarian projects and children's stories in the bulletin.

🎙 Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko’s remarks at the OSCE Annual Security Review Conference, June 26-27, 2024

Key points:

💬 The claims that were made here regarding the Ukraine conflict should not mislead anyone and obscure the main point that Washington had unleashed a hybrid war to preserve its global hegemony in a world that has undergone dramatic change and is increasingly vocal about the need for more change.

• The political circus in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, clearly showed those who were reluctant to see things for what they are that all the Kiev regime’s Western curators want to accomplish is squeeze Ukraine dry for its resources, rather than achieve peace. Peace was an easy goal to attain through the Minsk agreements, which provided for the Lugansk and Donetsk regions reunification with Ukraine and respecting fundamental human rights in the process.

• There is no such thing as security or cooperation in Europe. The United States has annihilated the political and military centrality of the OSCE. Arms control agreements that were of key importance to European and Euro-Atlantic security have been broken. The NATO members are having businesslike discussions about supplying the Kiev regime with ever more high-precision and long-range weapons and lifting restrictions on using them.

• The economic dimension of the OSCE is collapsing under the weight of innumerable illegal sanctions imposed not only on Russia, but also on other countries which prefer to choose their partners on their own and to build mutually beneficial relations without anyone telling them what to do.

• The humanitarian basket and the activities of the OSCE institutions have been eviscerated by Western double standards. Make your European choice publicly known, and you’ll get a free pass to all sorts of human rights violations all the way to unleashing war against your own people, which is what the Kiev regime did after the Maidan coup.

👉 All that remains of the OSCE is a shell, a framework for a political dialogue, but there is no dialogue in sight.

Is there an alternative to sliding toward a point of no return?

❗️ Yes, there is.
It is contained in President Putin’s proposals on ending the Ukraine conflict, which he articulated at a meeting with the Foreign Ministry senior officials on June 14.

#Ukraine

Today’s Ukraine has long become a toxic state, rotten from the inside, which infects other countries with its corruption plague. This is something to be discussed on specialised platforms.

Mutually beneficial cooperation with the Kiev regime (it is important for the Global Majority countries to realise this, too) will only do harm, because no one will ever be able to estimate the true scale of corrupt schemes implemented by Bankovaya street.

They have clearly learned the trick by now. Their promises have brought huge gains to crime rings and arms barons around the world. In this sense, they feel like masters of the world right now.

#Ukraine #TheRepublicOfKorea

Given Seoul’s announced plans to reconsider its stance on supplying lethal weapons to the Kiev regime, we urge the Republic of Korea to avoid hasty actions that could irreversibly damage Russian-South Korean relations.

Russia cannot tolerate South Korean weaponry and military equipment being provided to the Ukrainian neo-Nazis to attack Russian territory and kill civilians.

#Sanctions

Despite the apparently exorbitant cost of the sanctions for those who have adopted them, the West continues with its suicidal anti-Russia policy. I do not mean the West as an association of people but as the regimes that have joined hands to line their pockets while pushing their people towards the abyss.

Leaders of the so-called "free world" are ruling in a world that is free from conscience and, now, money. While prioritising political considerations to the detriment of common logic and economic expedience, not to mention liberalism and economic freedoms, they are eroding the foundations of their own socioeconomic stability and the prosperity of their citizens.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks and answers to questions at the Primakov Readings International Forum (Moscow, June 26, 2024)

Key talking points:

🌐 We are witnessing the development of a fairer multipolar and polycentric architecture.

• Those whose business is to analyse international developments cannot disregard the fact that more and more countries in Eurasia, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America are trying to pursue a more independent foreign policy.

• The principles of “reginal solutions to reginal problems” is becoming increasingly more topical. More and more countries, regions and organisations have accepted it and have joined their voices in calling for more democratic international relations.

• There are now centres of power and development outside of Europe and outside of the Western world. This can be viewed as the positive results of the decolonisation process, which started in mid-20th century. The Soviet Union took part in it.

• Even if the US retains the status as one of the global centres of power in the foreseeable future, which is quite possible, this does not mean preserving the US-led world order.

• The only novelty, perhaps, is the non-independent, servile position of the leaders of big, respected European states with rich traditions of autonomy in international affairs and awareness of their own national dignity. <...> The US is already openly shifting the costs of fighting Russia to its European vassals, enabling its defence companies to make money.

❗️ We are interested in just one thing: threats to Russian security should stop emanating from the West.

• Our neighbours on the western tip of Eurasia could have become a centre of an emerging multipolar world order. Someday, they will change their mind and realise that their line, implemented on orders from Washington, is leading them into a blind alley.

• Western countries want to punish Russia, and they want to use our example to intimidate everyone who conducts, or intends to conduct, an independent foreign policy <...>. All these vain attempts have no future and are already yielding a diametrically opposite effect.

🗓 On 29 June 1941 the Battle for the Zapolyarye Polar Region began.

It lasted until 1 November 1944 and culminated in a decisive Red Army's victory over the Nazis and their cronies. The war theatre of the its initial part comprised the Murmansk region, Karelia, Barents, White and Kara Seas.

The Third Reich sought to capture the Kola Peninsula and Murmansk, the country's only ice-free port beyond the Arctic Circle, where the Northern Fleet of the USSR was stationed, at any cost. The German command's plan was to to break through the Soviet defence, deprive the USSR of access to the Arctic Ocean and advance to the east with Finland fighting side by side with the Nazis and pursuing its goal to occupy the Kola Peninsula and Soviet Karelia.

⚔️ Hitler threw Army "Norway" (97 thousand strong) to achieve this goals against the 14th Army of the Northern Front, a little over 50,000 people. The offensive of the united German-Finnish forces lasted a week, despite numerical advantage ultimately failed and stalled, not able to overcome the Red Army's resistance. They were forced to engage and retain defensive positions, while being bogged down in the Arctic for a prolonged period.

Yet the Nazis did not abandon attempts to if not capture Murmansk, then destroy it. Residential quarters were mercilessly bombed. All in all the Luftwaffe performed 792 air raids, having dropped 207 thousand bombs. To give this a perspective: by sheer density of air strikes Murmansk is second only to Stalingrad.

Finland's forced withdrawal from the war in autumn 1944 created favourable conditions for the Red Army to go on the offensive. In the course of the Petsamo-Kirkenes operation Soviet forces not only liberated the occupied areas of the Soviet Polar Regions but also provided invaluable assistance in the liberation of Norway.

⭐️ In total, more than 67 thousand Soviet soldiers perished in the battles at this war theatre. On December 5, 1944, the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR established the medal "For the Defence of the Soviet Polar Region", which was awarded to about 353 thousand people.

Contemporary Norwegian politician Just Lippe of the time wrote back in the day: "The Soviet army came to Norway not only as a military force, but also as a friend of the Norwegian people". In Oslo, Kirkenes, Budø, Elvenes and a number of other cities there are monuments to our soldiers with the innoscription "Norway thanks you".

However, today, where the Soviet heroes selflessly & valiantly fought, including for the liberation of Norway, NATO troops regularly conduct anti-Russian military exercises and build-up military potential quite reminiscent of what the Third Reich did, while true pages of our common history are being torn apart and forgotten. That we won't allow ☝️ as #WeRemember
