🗓4 июня 2025 года в ходе состоявшихся в Генеральной Ассамблее ООН выборов Россия была избрана в состав Экономического и Социального Совета (ЭКОСОС) на период 2026-2028 годов.

Благодаря поддержке развивающихся стран был успешно преодолен барьер политизированной блокировки нашей кандидатуры в предыдущие два года.

В качестве члена Совета Россия продолжит последовательно выступать за укрепление возложенной на этот орган роли по общесистемной координации, содействию экономическому и социальному развитию и сбалансированной интеграции экономических, социальных и экологических аспектов в интересах реализации Повестки дня в области устойчивого развития на период до 2030 года.

👉Россия признательна за поддержку, оказанную её кандидатуре в ходе прошедших выборов.

🇷🇺 On June 6, 2011, the President of the Russian Federation signed a decree on the annual celebration of Russian Language Day in order to “preserve, support and develop the Russian language as a national treasure of the peoples of the Russian Federation, a tool of international communication and an integral part of the cultural and spiritual heritage of world civilization”.

Russian is one of the most popular languages in the world.

It has a rich literary heritage and is one of the most dynamic languages. Today, Russian is spoken by over 250 million citizens of Russia and other countries.

My heartfelt wishes go to you on the occasion of Russian Language Day, which takes place annually on the birthday of great Russian poet and writer Alexander Pushkin.

🇷🇺 The importance of the Russian language as a pillar underlying the Russian civilisation and the whole Russian world can hardly be overestimated. Our “great and mighty” (as it is called) language is among the world’s top five most widely spoken languages.

It is widely used as an official or working language on international platforms. Its role in the development of scientific, cultural and educational exchanges and people-to-people contacts is enormous. Russian Language Day features on the UN calendar of significant dates as part of the programme for promoting multilingualism and cultural diversity.

Spreading the language of Leo Tolstoy and Ivan Turgenev, and Russian culture across the former Soviet Union objectively contributes to the formation of a space of peace, security, economic and humanitarian cooperation in Eurasia. I would like to note the great strides in the joint efforts with our partners to complete the procedures related to the establishment of the International Organisation for the Russian Language that was initiated by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Importantly, all countries without exception, where the Russian language is known and loved, and where the people are willing to study it, are welcome to join it. I look forward to the Organisation becoming operational soon.

✍️ In 1942, outstanding poetess Anna Akhmatova wrote about it in her poem “Courage” as follows:

None fears to die under the bullet’s siege,
None regrets loosing one’s home here, —
And we will preserve you, O great Russian speech,
O Russian great word, we all bear.
We’ll carry you out, clear and free, as a wave,
Give you to our heirs, and from slavery save.
Forever!

The “Russian great word” could be seen in denunciatory texts, including at the Nuremberg Tribunal, documenting the atrocities of Nazi war criminals. It strengthened the fighting spirit, brought consolation, and asserted the inevitable victory of good over evil. <...>

❗️ Respect for the Russian language, the great culture created on its basis, and the people who speak it are very important for us. We cannot tolerate discrimination, not to mention the open terror against everything Russian that was unleashed by the Kiev regime. The Ukrainian followers of Bandera and Shukhevich are systematically and legislatively exterminating everything that is in any way connected with Russia. The Kiev regime finds the Russian language particularly hateful. It was banned, including by law, from use. Russia will not leave Russians and Russian-speaking people in trouble and will make sure that their legal rights, including the right to speak their native language, are restored in full. We will continue to speak about this pressing problem on international platforms. We will insist on having it resolved as a prerequisite for a lasting peaceful settlement of the Ukraine conflict.

Further strengthening of the position of the Russian language in the world remains among the unconditional priorities of our humanitarian foreign policy. We will continue to do our utmost to meet the needs of our foreign partners in studying and using the Russian language, in obtaining general interest and scientific information in Russian, and in expanding knowledge about Russia.

On a final note, I would like to extend my heartfelt wishes to all those who love the language spoken by Pushkin and who contribute to its preservation and dissemination around the world. Special words of gratitude go to our compatriots who maintain an unbreakable spiritual and linguistic bond with their historical Homeland, and who do much to preserve the rich cultural, historical and spiritual heritage of the Russian world.

Русский язык — один из самых популярных в мире.

Он широко используется в качестве официального или рабочего языка на международных площадках. Велика его роль в развитии научных, культурных, образовательных обменов, контактов между людьми. День русского языка включён в международный календарь знаменательных дат ООН – в рамках программы развития многоязычия и культурного разнообразия.

Распространение языка Л.Н.Толстого и И.С.Тургенева и российской культуры на пространстве бывшего Советского Союза объективно способствует формированию в Евразии пространства мира, безопасности, экономического и гуманитарного сотрудничества. Хотел бы отметить большой прогресс в совместных с партнёрами усилиях по завершению процедур, связанных с созданием Международной организации по русскому языку, учреждённой по инициативе Президента Казахстана К.-Ж.К.Токаева. Важно, что она открыта для присоединения всех без исключения государств, где знают и любят русский язык, где хотят его изучать. Рассчитываю, что уже в ближайшее время Организация начнёт свою работу.

Конечно, в год 80-летия Великой Победы мы с благодарностью вспоминаем, что воины Красной Армии, спасшие мир от ужасов нацизма, отстояли в том числе и наше право говорить на родном, русском языке.

Не говоря уже об открытом терроре в отношении всего русского, который развязан киевским режимом. Украинские последователи Бандеры и Шухевича систематически и законодательно истребляют всё, что так или иначе связано с Россией. Особую ненависть у киевского режима вызывает русский язык, на использование которого введены многочисленные запреты, в том числе законодательные. Россия не оставит русских и русскоязычных людей в беде, обязательно добьётся того, чтобы их законные права, включая право говорить на родном языке, были восстановлены в полном объёме. Продолжим говорить об этой острейшей проблеме на международных площадках. Памятник был создан скульптором Юрием Динесом и архитектором Анатолием Климочкиным и установлен в 1999 году.

This will determine the success of the younger generation, in their lives and careers, in the years and even decades to come, meaning that it will shape the long-term well-being and prosperity of our nations, as well as the progress of the entire human civilisation.

It is vital that the new approaches you propose are put into practice in everyday life, serving as the foundation for education policy decisions and encouraging greater state and private investment in human capital and its development.

We are united by this common goal: to deliver accessible, modern and high-quality education. This is an essential and fundamental requirement for social equity, alleviating poverty and inequality while boosting incomes and improving the quality of life for citizens across our countries.

⚡️ Statement by Foundation for the Support and Protection of the Rights of Compatriots Living Abroad

📃 Recently, the Foundation for the Support and Protection of the Rights of Compatriots Living Abroad has once again become the target of a massive provocative campaign launched by a group of European media under the guise of a “journalistic investigation.”

For the third year in a row, it has been flooded by slander and misinformation that distort the actual goal and practices of its activities which are to assist Russian compatriots in protecting their legitimate interests in their respective countries of residence.

The choice of time for launching another dirty attack on the Russian human rights organisation was not accidental: obsessed with the idea of rescuing the criminal Kiev regime, the leaders of a number of European countries are trying to actively cobble up an anti-Russia front in all areas, and to wipe out everything that is Russian or “pro-Moscow.” This caveman-like goal is extrapolated to human rights, including the ethnic minority issues.

Millions of Russian compatriots living abroad, who, in their overwhelming majority, support Russia’s policy, the goals of the special military operation of the Russian Federation to demilitarise and denazify Ukraine, and to protect the civilians of Donbass have been targeted. Attempts are being made to have them change their minds, to intimidate them, to make ridiculous political accusations against them, to deport, or even to imprison them.

Each time, these propaganda campaigns are becoming increasingly aggressive and deceitful, as they repeat old tired clichés about the Foundation allegedly “funding spies, criminals, and propagandists.” Most of the accusations come down to the long-winded assertion of its “cooperation with Russian special services in conducting influence operations in the EU countries.”

❗️ It is quite obvious that these publications are based on a mixture of outright lies, covered up by speculation that has already been worn out from repeated use, which once again confirms the open participation of foreign special services in plotting this provocation, which fact, incidentally, is reported by some of the journalists involved in it. The “investigators” use not only publicly available information about the activities of our NGO, but also publish materials obtained illegally from electronic correspondence used by the Foundation for communication with its partners. The results of such a brazen hack of the Foundation’s email by special services are presented as a leak.

Through their publications, these media outlets, the list of which has almost doubled compared with last year, reveal the true goals of this campaign which are to compromise the Foundation, to push it out of Europe, to intimidate its foreign partners, and to force our compatriots to refuse to interact with it. <...>

Reacting to yet another “revelation,” we reaffirm that the Foundation has never cooperated with any special services, nor has it ever employed any members of the special services engaged in influence operations in Western countries, including the EU.

All the media’s assertions to this effect represent a gross lie and a blatant provocation.

☝️ We emphasise that the main purpose of the Foundation’s activities, as enshrined in its Charter and the regulatory legal documents of the Russian Federation governing its functions, is to provide assistance to our compatriots living abroad in order to ensure their human rights and freedoms and to protect their legal interests. <...>

We reserve the right to hold liable organisers and perpetrators of this provocative campaign targeting our NGO and publicly making false accusations against the Foundation, its employees and our partners in a number of EU member countries.

On June 2, the second round of direct bilateral talks with Ukraine was held in Istanbul; the talks were resumed at Russia’s initiative.

As agreed on May 16, the Russian Side presented the Ukrainian delegation with a detailed two-part memorandum outlining our vision of ways to achieve long-term peace and a possible full-fledged ceasefire. Kiev took a break to consider that document’s provisions. In turn, we received a draft of the Ukrainian version, which will also be studied in detail.

Our delegation received a list of 339 Ukrainian children who have lost contact with their parents or legal representatives due to various circumstances. The Russian Side intends to thoroughly review their cases.

As we can see, Ukraine has failed to provide any proof confirming the “20'000 abducted children,” something the Kiev regime previously alleged. In fact, they insisted on this at every level. Russia is rescuing children from under the shelling of Kiev’s artillery and evacuating them from combat zones to safety when necessary. This primarily refers to orphans and minors who have been left without the care of their legal guardians. Our country is doing everything possible to have children reunite with their families. This process is making great strides.

The Russian Side will approach the implementation of all existing agreements with utmost responsibility.

The Kiev regime and its EU Western sponsors have exerted considerable effort to derail another round of negotiations in Istanbul, thereby sabotaging the nascent peace process. They have resorted to their favoured terrorist methods.

On June 3, the Investigative Committee of Russia classified the monstrous crimes – the blowing of the bridges in the Bryansk Region (May 31, 2025) and the Kursk Region (June 1, 2025) – as acts of terrorism.

It is evident the terrorists, acting on the orders of the Kiev regime, meticulously planned their attacks to maximise civilian casualties, including children.

The reaction of the Ukrainian Nazis to these events [in Bryansk and Kursk regions] was predictably marked by open gloating. This once again underscores the misanthropic essence of the Kiev junta.

Unfortunately, this high-profile position [President of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly], is unlikely to improve her [Baerbock's] reputation. Many remember her previous remarks about the need to change position “by 360 degrees” and references to “hundreds of thousands of kilometres” supposedly separating countries, along with numerous other questionable assertions.

Regrettably, all of this has occurred during the UN’s anniversary year, commemorating the Victory over Nazism. We vividly recall how Baerbock praised her grandfather, who was associated with the Third Reich.
