💬 The developments in the Middle East, an unprecedented crisis, and a wide-scale escalation of violence have once again demonstrated that genuine peace and security will not come to the region without a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue.

Meetings and conferences can be postponed, but Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank of the Jordan River, and East Jerusalem can no longer wait. The realisation of their legitimate aspirations for their own sovereign state and ensuring their fundamental rights to self-determination and return has been unjustly delayed for prohibitively long 80 years. <...>

☝️ Moscow has since advocated for the creation of an independent and viable Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with the capital in East Jerusalem, which could peacefully and safely coexist with Israel. Since 1990, the Embassy of the State of Palestine has been operating in Moscow.

Just like dozens of other countries, Russia recognised Palestinian statehood not to draw applause, but in order to create a two-state solution, and effectively helped to safeguard it.

Russia and 146 other countries reaffirmed their position in favour of Palestinian statehood during a vote held in the General Assembly in May 2024 on granting the Palestinian delegation full member status at the UN.

⚠️ The statistics of dead and injured Palestinians are shocking: over 60,000 and 42,000, respectively. As Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasised a year ago during quarterly debates at the UN Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, this number is several times higher than in 11 years of conflict in southeastern Ukraine, which, unlike Palestine, Western delegations are sparing no words or emotions to describe.

According to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Gaza became a “graveyard for children” back in November 2023, and “starvation is knocking on every door” there today.

It is necessary to separately praise the courage and resilience of humanitarian personnel who continue to provide assistance to the people in need amid adversity.

Since the time this crisis had broken out, 483 people were killed, including 326 UN staff, many of whom died alongside their families. We express our condolences to the relatives and loved ones, as well as the colleagues of the deceased.

This is the largest loss of staff for the UN since its founding 80 years ago...

👉 There is only one way to get out of this bloody impasse, and it is to immediately cease fire everywhere, to release hostages and forcibly detained persons without any conditions, to ensure safe and unhindered humanitarian access, and to restart the peace process on a universally recognised international legal basis with the central two-state formula, according to which Israel and Palestine should live side by side in peace and safety.

🎙 Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks at the XI #TerraScientia National Educational Youth Forum (Solnechnogorsk, July 28, 2025)

Key talking points:

• Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, new Russia’s foreign policy has always been based exclusively on its national interests. No lecturing, and no forcing ideologically-driven approaches on our neighbours or partners, either. <...> The primary goal of our foreign policy is to ensure safe conditions for the country’s development and to raise the well-being of our citizens.

• In Europe, the Ukraine issue represents the West’s policy of aiming to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia. They don’t hide the fact that they had been preparing for this for quite some time.

• Even during the Cold War, dialogue was there and helped opposing camps better understand each other’s intentions, first and foremost, to prevent a major war. Europe has lost that instinct, and the vaccine against Nazism has worn off. The same forces that once sought to destroy Russia are now re-emerging in Europe and have chosen Ukraine as a battering ram that they use against us. They welcome everything it is doing.

• We have consistently championed dialogue, even during the most challenging times. <...> It is also imperative to acknowledge that mutual respect existed during the Cold War. Today, it is absent. Europe has simply gone berserk. Much of this is, understandably, a struggle to retain power.

• The dialogue we maintain with Donald Trump’s administration demonstrates that reasonable voices still exist in the West. They command significant support, as evidenced by recent developments in the United States.

• The West cannot accept the loss of its hegemony and continues to pursue purely neocolonial policies. Their sanctions regime exists to suppress competitors, fearing their unimpeded development, because emerging power centres have already outpaced them. Remove obstacles, and they will leave the West far behind.

• A multipolar world is emerging – an objective and unstoppable process. No sanctions, trade wars, or provocations of open conflict can reverse it. Despite this, the West continues to pursue such tactics, following its actions in the Middle East, Ukraine, and Iran. 👉 The rise of a multipolar world will ultimately prevail, despite efforts to delay the natural course of history. We are supported by a wide network of partners, allies, and like-minded nations.

🇳🇴 О деструктивной линии Осло в сфере рыболовства

В русле своей, к сожалению, антироссийской линии Осло с 10 июля с.г. присоединился к санкциям ЕС в отношении российских компаний «Норсбо» и «Мурман Сифуд» (это компании, оперирующие в сфере рыбной промышленности). Данное решение предусматривает, в частности, запрет их судам заходить в территориальные воды и порты материковой части страны, вести рыбный промысел в норвежской исключительно экономической зоне.

В том, что Норвегия, формально не входящая в Европейский союз, практически полностью солидаризируется с Брюсселем в вопросах давления на Россию – даже вопреки здравому смыслу и в ущерб собственным национальным интересам – в этом ничего нового нет. На этот раз, однако, Осло еще и, можно сказать, творчески доработал указания есовских русофобов, запретив абсолютно законную деятельность российских рыболовных судов по промыслу совместно управляемых Россией и Норвегией рыбных запасов.

Налицо грубое пренебрежение со стороны Норвегии выполнением своих обязательств в рамках действующих двусторонних соглашений, включая и Соглашение о взаимных отношениях в области рыболовства 1976 г., а также прямое нарушение решений Смешанной Российско-Норвежской комиссии по рыболовству. Своими действиями норвежские власти ставят под удар не только интересы собственного населения, но и весь механизм устойчивого управления биологическими ресурсами Баренцева и Норвежского морей, который зиждется на российско-норвежском взаимодействии в сфере рыболовства.

Важно отметить, что вплоть до настоящего времени, несмотря на политические разногласия, ежегодно проводятся заседания двусторонней комиссии по рыболовству, в которой устанавливаются общие допустимые уловы по основным промысловым видам рыб, распределяются национальные квоты сторон, согласуются меры регулирования и контроля за промыслом, утверждаются программы совместных исследований морских биоресурсов. Весь полувековой опыт ее работы показывает, что сохранение рыбных запасов в регионе возможно только в сотрудничестве с Россией и при учете наших интересов.

Что касается предлога, который был использован норвежскими властями для очередных антироссийских мер, то иначе как проявлением паранойи его не назовешь – российские рыболовные компании с точки зрения тех, кто объяснял в Норвегии это решение, якобы участвуют в разведывательной деятельности, спонсируемой российским государством, направленной на критически важную инфраструктуру в морских районах Норвегии, союзников по НАТО. Но, естественно, никаких доказательств не приводится.

Это все классические русофобские сценарии.
Последовавшие после принятия этого решения заявления представителей норвежского руководства о желании продолжить многолетнее сотрудничество с Россией в сфере рыболовства лишь подтверждают, что от некогда присущего Норвегии прагматизма в отношениях с Россией, увы, не осталось и следа.

Соответствующий протест был заявлен временному поверенному в делах Норвегии в России Р.Иохансену, он был вызван в МИД России 29 июля с.г. Российская сторона инициировала проведение в августе с.г. внеочередной сессии двусторонней Комиссии по рыболовству.
Вынуждены констатировать, что взаимовыгодному сотрудничеству с Норвегией в сфере рыболовства нанесен серьезный удар. Подобные недружественные действия Осло не останутся без надлежащего ответа с нашей стороны.
