🎙 Excerpt from the statement by President of Russia Vladimir Putin at a meeting with permanent members of Russia's Security Council (September 22, 2025)
💬 President Putin: I would like to begin with an issue of prime importance, one that is critical to safeguarding our national interests, Russia’s sovereignty, and, without exaggeration, international security as a whole.
I am referring to the situation in the realm of strategic stability, which, regrettably, continues to deteriorate. This is driven by a combination of factors, which are negative, compounding existing strategic risks and generating new ones.
As a result of the destructive actions previously taken by the West, the foundations of constructive relations and practical cooperation between nuclear powers have been significantly undermined.
The basis for dialogue within relevant bilateral and multilateral frameworks has been eroded.
Gradually, the system of Soviet-American and Russian-American agreements on nuclear missile and strategic defence arms control – long relied upon to stabilise relations between the two largest nuclear powers and to enhance global security – has been nearly dismantled. <...>
☝️ Let me emphasise and let there be no doubt: Russia is fully capable of responding to any current or emerging threat, not with words, but through concrete military-technical measures.
A clear example is our decision to end the unilateral moratorium on the deployment of ground-based short- and intermediate-range missiles. This was a forced move needed to ensure an adequate response to the deployment of similar US and other Western-made weapons in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, which poses a direct threat to Russia’s security. <...>
Let me remind you that the last major political and diplomatic achievement in the field of strategic stability was the conclusion of the Russian-American New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START) in 2010. However, owing to the profoundly hostile policies of the Biden administration, which undermined the fundamental principles on which this treaty was built, its full implementation was suspended in 2023.
Nevertheless, both Parties have declared their intention to continue voluntarily observing the central quantitative limits of the strategic offensive arms treaty until its expiry.
For nearly 15 years, this agreement has played a constructive role in maintaining balance and predictability in the sphere of strategic offensive weapons.
The New START Treaty will expire on February 5, 2026, signalling the imminent end of the last international accord directly limiting nuclear missile capabilities.
A complete renunciation of this treaty’s legacy would, from many points, be a grave and short-sighted mistake. It would also be adverse to the objectives of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
In order to prevent the emergence of a new strategic arms race and to preserve an acceptable degree of predictability and restraint, we consider it reasonable to maintain in these turbulent times the status quo established under New START.
❗️ Accordingly, Russia is prepared to continue observing the treaty’s central quantitative restrictions for one year after February 5, 2026.
Following that date, based on a careful assessment of the situation, we will make a final decision on whether to uphold these voluntary self-limitations. We believe that this measure is only feasible provided the United States acts in a similar spirit and refrains from steps that would undermine or disrupt the existing balance of deterrence. <...>
I believe that Russia’s initiative, if implemented, could make a substantial contribution to creating the conditions necessary for a substantive strategic dialogue with the United States – provided, of course, that the grounds for its full resumption are secured and that broader steps are taken to normalise bilateral relations and remove core security contradictions.

🎙 Statement by First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations Dmitry Polyanskiy at the UNSC meeting on Ukraine (New York, September 22, 2025)
💬 Dmitry Polyanskiy: Just last week, in this very chamber, we were compelled to listen to baseless allegations that Russian drones had violated Polish airspace, yet not a single piece of substantiated evidence has been provided so far to verify their Russian provenance.
It is also telling that a few days later, it came to light that the incident involving the damaged roof in the Lublin Voivodeship – which had become central to this anti-Russian campaign – was, in fact, caused by an errant missile launched from a Polish fighter jet. <...>
We treat any accusation against our armed forces with the utmost seriousness, and our first step is always to establish the facts to understand what truly happened. To that end, we promptly proposed bilateral consultations with Warsaw to ascertain the situation.
Yet, we have received no meaningful response. <...>
Today, we are compelled to observe the second part of this performance ennoscriptd “Blame Russia for Everything.” Our neighbors have now conceived that Russia is at fault for an incursion into Estonia's airspace. As always, there is no evidence, except for the Russophobic hysteria coming from Tallinn, which was vividly demonstrated today.
Meanwhile, the facts prove that on September 19, three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets made a scheduled flight from Karelia to an airfield in the Kaliningrad region. The flight was conducted in strict accordance with the International Rules for the Use of Airspace.
👉 The Russian jets did not veer off the agreed route nor did they cross Estonian airspace.
Their flight path passed over neutral waters of the Baltic Sea, over three kilometers from the island of Vaindloo. This is confirmed by objective monitoring data. <...>
We understand that the hysteria of our European colleagues is to a large extent geared towards bringing the new US administration headed by President Trump back to an anti-Russian course and finally undermining the agreements and understandings reached by the Russian and American presidents in Alaska a month ago.

#UNGA80 #UNCharterIsOurRules
The High-Level Week of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly will begin on September 23 in New York, a major event on this year’s international calendar. The Russian delegation will be led by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
The High-Level Week will take place against a backdrop of increasing global turbulence and fragmentation. This instability is largely driven by the collective West’s efforts to maintain its fading dominance through neo-colonial methods, its attempts to impose the odious concept of a ‘rules-based international order’.
The Russian delegation will prioritise promoting a unifying agenda. Our efforts will be focused on strengthening the foundations of a multipolar world order, advocating for equitable approaches to resolving the Ukrainian, Palestinian-Israeli, and other acute crises, and deepening cooperation with countries of the Global Majority.
We will work vigorously to broaden support for our initiatives aimed at building a framework of equal and indivisible security in Eurasia.
#KievRegimeCrimes
The Kiev neo-Nazi regime continues its terrorist assaults on civilians and civilian infrastructure.
Over the past week, hostile artillery fire and drone strikes have resulted in injuries to 115 Russian civilians, including seven fatalities and 108 wounded – among them, four minors.
More than 3'700 munitions have been discharged at civilian targets.
#Balkans #DoubleStandards
The West has made yet another step towards unleashing a new armed conflict in the Balkans, a region that is still healing the wounds inflicted by the interethnic clashes dating back to the Yugoslavia crisis of the 1990s, when the West’s “blood-stained hand” was violating justice.
In March of this year, Croatia formed a military union with Albania and the Serbian Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija. On September 5, in furtherance of this alarming trend, Zagreb and Ljubljana reached an agreement on intensifying their defence cooperation.
As is clear, the participants’ wily statement that they seek to “preserve peace and stability” in southeast Europe is nothing more than a specious pretext for their effort to continue escalating the explosive situation in the Balkans in the interests of the Western capitals.
The final aim of these initiatives, ones based on the West’s intrinsic “Serbophobia,” is to fully isolate Serbia, encircle it with hostile forces, and actually force it to waive its ancestral lands. Serbia is being compelled to give up its sovereignty and become an “obedient element” of the anti-Russian front.
#Iran #JCPOA #IAEA
On September 9, discussions were held in Cairo between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Director General of the IAEA. These negotiations culminated in an agreement concerning the practical aspects of safeguards implementation in Iran, which will bolster collaboration between Tehran and the Agency in this sensitive sphere.
In this context, we acknowledge Iran’s consistent steps aimed at implementing the aforementioned agreement and regard its approval by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council as evidence of a responsible approach and confirmation of Tehran’s commitment to the reached accords which align with its national interests and comply with the legislation of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

#Announcement
🗓 On September 25, during the UN General Assembly High-Level Week in New York, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will take part in the G20 Ministerial Meeting. The event will be held as part of South Africa’s current presidency and be conducted in a format that is open to all UN member states and observers.
This will be the second #G20 Ministerial Meeting on the central universal platform for multilateral cooperation. This year, the participants will focus on the correlation of peace and sustainable economic growth, including in the context of the 80th anniversary of the UN. <...>
In its statement, the Russian side will present fundamental assessments of the international situation, focusing on the root causes of tensions and the growing number and scale of conflicts, the resolution of which - particularly in the Gaza Strip - continues to stall with the connivance of certain countries.
The Russian Side will also stress the unacceptability of the confrontational course pursued by Western countries, which, in their attempts to hold on to their erstwhile dominance and to defeat its opponents, are employing a broad range of hybrid warfare tools, such as interference in other countries’ internal affairs as they try to substitute lop-sided “rules” that suit only their own needs for the internationally accepted legal norms, to impose illegitimate sanctions, and to resort to other unfair competition tricks.
☝️ The Russian Side will highlight the emergence of a multipolar world order that calls for respectful coexistence of nations on the basis of sovereign equality of states. In light of the seminal 80th anniversary of the Great Victory of the Allied powers over Nazi Germany and its minions, which laid the legal and institutional foundations of modern-day international relations, the pivotal importance of preserving the central role of the UN and its Charter will be emphasised.
Russia will call on its partners to work towards building indivisible security and eliminating the bloc confrontation mindset.
It will underscore the unacceptability of weaponising the economy, which should be regarded as a realm of cooperation and strengthening of mutually beneficial ties, rather than a means of settling scores with strategic opponents. <...>
Promoting innovative international formats relying on an agenda of unity and creation, such as #BRICS, the #SCO, and the #EAEU, to name a few, are Russia’s top priorities.
A special emphasis will be placed on the G20 countries’ economic specialisation. Adding peace and security, matters that fall under the purview of the UN Security Council, to its agenda waters down the G20’s mandate and distracts its members from addressing sector-specific challenges. <...>
The year 2025 marks another significant anniversary, the 65th anniversary of the adoption, at the initiative of the Soviet Union, of the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples. In this context, Russia deems it appropriate to raise, at the G20 platform, the issue of continued exploitation of Africa, Asia, and Latin America by neoliberal elites through forcing trade and economic agreements with asymmetric financial gains and predatory loans on them, and plundering their natural resources. <...>
Overall, the Russian delegation plans to use the Ministerial Meeting to set a guiding course towards elaborating, over the next two months, balanced agreements for the Johannesburg G20 Summit that take into account the World Majority’s interests.
Moscow is convinced that South Africa’s watch will consolidate and build on the achievements of the BRICS members’ (Indonesia, India, and Brazil) G20 presidencies in 2022-2024 in advancing aspirations of the developing countries.
🌍 Furthermore, this marks the first time in history that an African country holds the G20 presidency, further predetermining the importance of focusing on the needs of the Global South and the Global East.

🗓 On September 24, Crimea celebrates the Day of the State Flag and Coat of Arms.
On this day in 1992, these were approved by the Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Crimea. A blue-white-red cloth, the Flag of the Republic of Crimea, was supposed to reflect the peninsula’s striving for unity with Russia and confidence in an inevitable triumph of historical justice that was consummated in 2014.
🔵 a symbol of hope for the future;
⚪ a clean page for modern history;
🔴 a reminder of the tragic pages of the past.
The Coat of Arms of the Republic of Crimea represents a red Varangian shield with a silver griffin holding a shell with a pearl. The shield is crowned with rays of a rising sun. The shield is crowned with rays of the rising sun, flanked by ancient columns tied with the Russian tricolor ribbon, and bears the motto: “Prosperity in Unity”.
🛡 The symbols on the Coat of Arms:
• the red colour of the shield is the dramatic fate of Crimea;
• the shield’s shape is a reminder of the route from the Varangians to the Greeks;
• the griffin is an ancient symbol of Taurida, its faithful protector, and an embodiment of power and wisdom;
• the pearl is the peninsula’s uniqueness;
• the rising sun is revival, hope, and prosperity.
✍️ An excerpt from the greetings by Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov:
✨ Today, the Flag and Coat of Arms of the Republic of Crimea are a reflection of the peninsula’s rich history, cultural diversity, development, and eternal unity with Russia.

📑 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, as per an annual tradition, has issued a Report regarding the Situation with the Glorification of Nazism and the Spread of Neo-Nazism and Other Practices That Contribute to Fueling Contemporary Forms of Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance
Read the Report in full (pdf)
This report is an important part of the ongoing efforts by Russian MFA to draw attention to the manifestations of various forms of glorification of Nazism and neo-Nazism, racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, and related intolerance in a number of foreign countries.
The document devotes significant attention to the policy pursued by certain states, primarily the Baltic countries, Poland, Ukraine, and Moldova, aimed at eradicating on their territories the Soviet-era legacy and memorial heritage that honours those who fought against Nazism.
The aforementioned countries are escalating efforts to falsify the history of WWII to justify Nazi ideology. <...> The report also reflects the line of Western countries aimed at inciting rampant Russophobia.
❗️ These negative processes have either emerged or intensified there and are presented as a means to counter the Special Military Operation by Russia's Armed Forces, which our country is conducting to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine and protect the civilian population of #Donbass. Consequently, the overt glorification of Nazism and the whitewashing of Nazi collaborators have, in fact, become a form of support for its modern-day adherents in Kiev.
Certain adherents of integration with Europe are themselves equating European values with Nazism. It is no wonder that modern European actors are trying to diminish the significance and, most importantly, blur the verdict of the Nuremberg Tribunal 👉 the very existence of its verdict is a great obstacle for the current adherents of the "rules-based order" supporting modern Nazis.
***
Substantively, this report is based on the provisions of the thematic Resolution "Combating glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to fuelling contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance," which the Russian Federation, together with a broad range of co-sponsors from all regions, submits annually to the UN General Assembly for consideration.
The overwhelming majority of UN Member States share Russia's position on opposing glorification of Nazism and justification of racism. Unprecedented pressure from the "collective West" cannot change this reality. In 2024, Russia's resolution was supported by 119 states, a clear majority of the international community.
Particular concern is raised by the solidarity of states that once belonged to the Nazi Axis, casting doubt on the sincerity of Germany, Italy, and Japan in their proclaimed repentance for the war crimes and crimes against humanity they committed during WWII. <...> The bitter irony is that such a sacrilegious attitude toward the memory of the victims of Nazism, fascism, and militarism is displayed in the very year marking the 80th Anniversary of the Victory over Nazism.
***
The Report itself is divided into national segments, where the situation in certain countries, mainly those suffering from various manifestations of Nazism or even themselves, such as the Kiev regime or the Baltic States promote Neo-Nazism on a state level.
***
The manifestations of racial discrimination and glorification of Nazism pose a direct threat to the fundamental values of genuine democracy and human rights, and represent a serious challenge.
Russia, together with its like-minded partners, will continue to oppose such racist and neo-colonial practices by every possible means.

⚡️ BRICS Joint Media Statement following the Meeting of BRICS Ministers of Foreign Affairs/International Relations on the margins of 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (New York, September 26)
👉 Read in full (Telegraph: I, II)
Key points:
• The Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to multilateralism, multipolarity and upholding international law, including the purposes and principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations (UN), in their entirety and interconnectedness as its indispensable cornerstone and the central role of the UN in the international system.
• The Ministers reiterated their commitment to ensuring greater and more meaningful participation and representation of Emerging Markets and Developing Countries (EMDCs), as well as Least Developed Countries (LDCs), especially from Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, in global decision-making processes and structures and making them better attuned to contemporary realities.
• The Ministers called for more just and equitable global governance and mutually beneficial relations among nations based on international law with an enhanced role for the Global South and the developing world in global governance.
• The Ministers reiterated their support for a comprehensive reform of the United Nations, including its Security Council, with a view to making it more democratic, representative, effective and efficient, and to increase the representation of developing countries in the Council’s memberships so that it can adequately respond to prevailing global challenges and support the legitimate aspirations of emerging and developing countries from Africa, Asia and Latin America, including #BRICS countries, to play a greater role in international affairs, in particular in the United Nations, including its Security Council.
• The Ministers expressed concern over proliferation of trade-restrictive actions, whether in the form of indiscriminate rising of tariffs and non-tariff measures, or protectionism, in particular measures used as a means of coercion that threaten to further reduce global trade, disrupt global supply chains, and introduce uncertainty into international economic and trade activities, potentially exacerbating existing economic disparities and affecting prospects for global economic development.
• The Ministers commended four consecutive developing countries as G20 Presidencies of Indonesia, India, Brazil, and South Africa during 2022-2025. They applauded the inclusion of the African Union as a full G20 member and the inclusion of voices from the Global South in the G20 mandate.
• The Ministers condemned the military strikes against the Islamic Republic of Iran since 13 June 2025, which constitute a violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, and expressed grave concern over the subsequent escalation of the security situation in the Middle East.
• Cognizant of the growing complexity in contemporary global challenges, including heightened geopolitical tensions, they underscored the urgent need for collective responses. The Ministers agreed that BRICS will continue to play a proactive and constructive role in addressing global challenges through dialogue and diplomacy.
• The Ministers noted that the BRICS expansion reflects its influence, credibility, and appeal as an important platform for inclusive global governance and for amplifying the collective voices from the Global South. In this regard, they underscored the need for enhanced coordination, continuity and support for a long-term institutional development of the grouping.
