⚡️ Last night, the Kiev regime attempted a drone strike against the residence of the President of the Russian Federation at the Kremlin.
Two unmanned aerial vehicles targeted the Kremlin. Timely action by the military and special services involving radar systems enabled them to disable the devices.
They crashed in the Kremlin grounds, scattering fragments without causing any casualties or damage.
⚠️ We consider these actions a premeditated terrorist attack and an assassination attempt targeting the President, carried out ahead of Victory Day and the May 9 Parade, where foreign guests are expected to be present, among others.
The President has not suffered in this terrorist attack. His working schedule remains unchanged and follows its ordinary course.
❗️ Russia reserves the right to take countermeasures wherever and whenever it deems appropriate.

• Security Council open debate on April 10 on “Risks stemming from violations of the agreements regulating the export of weapons and military equipment”.
• The Security Council’s high-level open debate on April 24 noscriptd “Effective multilateralism through the defence of the principles of the Charter of the United Nations” chaired by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov was the second central event.

On April 5, the Russian delegation held an informal Arria-formula Security Council meeting on evacuating children from the special military operation zone.
☝️ During the Russian presidency, the events envisaged by the Security Council April reporting and mandate cycles were carried out in full.

⚡️ Foreign Ministry statement on the attempted terrorist attacks against the Moscow Kremlin – the residence of the President of the Russian Federation
❗️ The Foreign Ministry firmly condemns the attempted terrorist attacks against the Moscow Kremlin on the night of May 3, when it was targeted by unmanned aerial vehicles.
There is no doubt that the Kiev regime is behind these attacks. It has a long-standing record of intentionally supporting and employing terrorist methods against civilian infrastructure and civilians, including the October 8, 2022, explosion on the Crimean Bridge, strikes against non-military targets in the Bryansk, Belgorod and Rostov regions, as well as many acts of sabotage. Now comes Moscow.
This crime is aggravated by the fact that the Moscow Kremlin serves as the residence of the Head of State. What makes the actions of the neo-Nazi Ukrainian authorities especially cynical is that they made an attempt to assassinate the President of Russia ahead of Victory Day and the May 9 Parade. <...>
☝️ Crimes like this cannot go unanswered. The Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case into actions designed to intimidate and terrorise people, inflict damage and kill people as a means of influencing the decision-making process by government agencies. We are certain that those who bear the blame for these acts will be identified. They will face imminent and inevitable punishment.
<...>
The silence on behalf of the collective West demonstrates its connivance with the terrorist methods employed by the neo-Nazi extremist regime in Kiev.
The Foreign Ministry believes that the international community and international organisations which are free from double standards and seek guidance from international law must condemn this new criminal undertaking by the Kiev regime. <...>
❗️ The Foreign Ministry reaffirms that Russia reserves the right to take countermeasures in response to these outrageous acts of terrorism.

🇷🇺🇨🇳 On May 4, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Qin Gang on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s Foreign Ministers’ Council meeting in the state of Goa, India.
The two Ministers praised Russian-Chinese relations for the momentum they have gained against the backdrop of growing geopolitical instability.
The two officials exchanged views on the current state of and prospects for developing the #SCO, welcoming the collective efforts by its member states to ensure peace and security in Eurasia. They also mentioned the SCO’s growing prestige in international affairs and its key role in the regional security architecture.
During the meeting, Sergey Lavrov and Qin Gang reaffirmed their mutual commitment to stepping up coordination efforts within the #UN, the #SCO, #BRICS, #RIC, #G20 and other key international organisations and dialogue mechanisms. They discussed several hot topics, including efforts to promote a peace settlement in the Ukraine crisis.

Key talking points:
• The UN-centric system is undergoing a deep crisis, the root cause of which was brought on by the decision of certain UN members to replace international law and the UN Charter with some “rules-based international order”. <...> Its masterminds haughtily reject the key principle underlying the UN Charter, which is the sovereign equality of states.
• Since World War II, Washington has pulled off dozens of reckless criminal military operations without even trying to secure multilateral legitimacy. Why bother when your “rules” are unbeknownst to everyone.
• Everyone is aware of it, even though not everyone is talking about it openly: the real issue is not about Ukraine, but rather about the future of international relations. Will they be forged on a sustainable consensus, one based on the balance of interests? Or will they be reduced to an aggressive and explosive advancement of hegemony? The Ukraine issue cannot be considered outside its geopolitical context.
• There should be no double standards. Multilateralism and democracy should enjoy respect both within the member countries and in their relations with one another.
• At this juncture, genuine multilateralism requires that the UN adapt to objective developments in the process of forming a multipolar architecture of international relations. It is imperative to expedite Security Council reform by expanding the representation of countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
• It is our common duty to preserve the United Nations as the hard-won epitome of multilateralism and coordination of international politics. The key to success lies in working together, renouncing claims on exceptionalism and – I reiterate – showing respect for the sovereign equality of states. This is what we all signed up for when we ratified the UN Charter.

🎖 On May 5, the Foreign Ministry hosted a number of commemorative events devoted to the 78th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.
🏵 According to the established tradition, baskets with flowers were laid near the memorial plaques at the ministry’s central building. The plaques bear the names of employees who lost their lives during the war and while performing their official duties, and who fell victim to political reprisals. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Council of Veterans, the Association of Russian Diplomats, the Council of Young Diplomats, and Foreign Ministry staff, including from its various departments.
Deputy FM Sergey Vershinin and Chairman of the Council of Veterans Valery Morozov addressed those present with welcome remarks from the ministry’s leadership. They highlighted the contribution of the ministry’s employees to the common victory and the importance of countering attempts to falsify the historical truth about World War II.
🏵 Accompanied by the ministry’s employees, representatives from the Council of Veterans laid a wreath and flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier near the Kremlin wall. Deputy FM Alexander Pankin attended the ceremony.
After a three year break, the ministry’s assembly hall hosted a grand meeting at which Deputy FM Sergey Ryabkov gave a speech on behalf of the ministry’s leadership. He emphasised that owing to the courage and valour of Red Army soldiers and the selfless labour of home front workers, our country crushed Hitler’s war machine and saved humanity from Nazi insanity.
“We look to the achievements of the soldiers-liberators in our current struggle for truth and justice, for a free future, and against Western attempts to weaken Russia as much as possible and inflict a strategic defeat on us,” he said.
☝️ He emphasised the efforts of veterans to preserve the best traditions of Smolensky Square and pass on their priceless professional experience to the young diplomats.

🦠 On May 5, Director-General of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over the past three years, the pandemic has presented an unprecedented challenge to the entire world, shedding light on many issues and vulnerabilities. While the global crisis required the highest degree of cohesion, mutual assistance, coordination and rejection of selfish practices, some countries preferred to look for scapegoats and politicise the situation.
Pure opportunistic reasons were behind the failure, during the years of the pandemic, to address the issue of WHO registering Russian vaccines that have proven their effectiveness and saved millions of lives all over the world.
At the same time, more facts have been uncovered recently suggesting that American pharmaceutical companies and others filling the markets with their vaccines engaged in corruption.
There are reasonable questions, reinforced by growing evidence of various side effects from their use, about whether the WHO decisions to expedite their global certification had been justified.
<...>
👉 Russia is ready to provide assistance and cooperate with all countries based on the principles of solidarity, equality and respect for international law in the search for mutually acceptable solutions to achieve progress in sustainable development and expand international cooperation in the field of global health to prevent future pandemics.

📅 On May 9, 1945, at 12:43 am, the Instrument of Unconditional Surrender of Nazi Germany was signed, ending the Great Patriotic War and World War II in Europe.
Following a successful assault on Berlin by the Red Army, Adolf Hitler committed suicide. The noscript of Reich President and command of the armed forces of the Third Reich passed to Admiral Karl Dönitz.
Desperate to surrender to the British-American troops, on May 5, German delegation arrived in the French city of Reims, where the headquarters of the Western Allies command was located.
📜 In the Article 4 of the Reims Instrument of Surrender of Nazi Germany stated that this document did not rule out the signing of another, definitive act at the request of one of the coalition members.
Thus, the document was recognised by the Soviet Union only as a preliminary instrument, and a new signing ceremony was proposed to be held in the capital of Nazi Germany, liberated by the Red Army - Berlin.
🕕 By midnight, all representatives and the press gathered in the hall where the signing ceremony of the Instrument of Unconditional Surrender of Nazi Germany was to take place.
At 12:43 am, the ceremony ended.
🎙 On May 9, 1945, at 2:10 am Moscow time, announcer Yury Levitan read out the Instrument of Unconditional Surrender of Nazi Germany and the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR declaring May 9 Victory Day. On the evening of May 9, Joseph Stalin addressed the Soviet people; after his address, Yury Levitan read out the order on the complete victory over Nazi Germany and on an artillery salute with thirty volleys from a thousand guns at 10:00 pm.
From that moment on, the Soviet Union and later Russia, as well as some former Soviet republics have celebrated Victory Day on May 9. On this date, we commemorate all those who defended Moscow, defeated the invaders at Stalingrad, broke through the siege of Leningrad, and liberated Belarus, Ukraine and Europe. These were the people who took Berlin at the cost of their lives.
