Read in full
💬 Direct flights to Georgia will resume following the adoption on May 10, 2023, of the Presidential Executive Order Declaring Null and Void the Presidential Executive Order No. 287 On Measures to Ensure the National Security of the Russian Federation and to Protect Citizens of the Russian Federation from Criminal and Other Illegal Actions, signed on June 21, 2019.
In addition, the Foreign Ministry’s recommendation, dated June 21, 2019, that Russian citizens refrain from travelling to Georgia will be cancelled as well.
☝️ On the other hand, Russian citizens should bear in mind all aspects of security and exercise caution when in Georgia.
❗️ The Presidential decisions to resume flights and introduce a short-term visa-free regime for the citizens of Georgia are in line with our principled approach to gradually improving conditions for communication and contacts between the citizens of Russia and Georgia in the absence of diplomatic relations.

🇷🇺 Nikolay Korchunov, Senior Arctic Official, Ambassador-at-Large, during a press conference following the Arctic Council meeting:
💬 "We need to deepen cooperation across the whole region with a comprehensive approach to regional development, including ecology, climate, science, economics, indigenous peoples, healthcare, contacts between regions, transport, energy issues and also military topics, even if they are not connected to the Arctic Council. It is important to provide comprehensive security in the region and we are absolutely not interested in in escalating the tension in the Arctic. It can all be sorted out by dialogue, which would strengthen the trust. A very important factor in developing of cooperation”

💬 "It is important to have options to avoid dependence, and everything is possible. Especially if the work of the Arctic Council will not contribute to the implementation and protection of national Russian interests. So far we do not have any plans to exit the Arctic Council, but if the organisation becomes useless or our rights are violated, we could consider leaving. We are strictly guided by our national interests and this will come first".

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s video address to the participants in the 13th session of the Arctic Council
💬 The Arctic region, which is playing an increasingly important role in world politics and the economy, is one of Russia's priorities.
As a country presiding in the Arctic Council in 2021-2023, Russia has invariably acted in line with the common interest, which is to ensure the sustainable and safe development of the entire Arctic region, the wellbeing of the Arctic population, including the indigenous peoples of the North.
The Russian presidency’s comprehensive programme was oriented towards achieving these objectives. More than 100 themed forums, some of them with international participants, were held as part of the programme.
☝️ Unfortunately, the Council’s full-scale activity was suspended by Western member countries under the absolutely far-fetched pretext that it related to the situation in Ukraine, which was provoked by the Western countries themselves. We consider this step by our Western colleagues politically motivated and counterproductive as it leads to a disintegration of collective approaches to the responsible management of the Arctic.
However, we still believe that the Arctic states bear a special responsibility for the consistent development of this region. It is our understanding that further effective work and the future of the Arctic Council in general will depend on whether we can find possibilities to continue a civilised dialogue in the interests of preserving the Arctic as a territory of peace, stability and constructive cooperation.

📖 Crimea — an unalienable part of Russia — reunited with the Motherland by popular vote in 2014. Ever since it has been one of the most rapidly developing regions in Europe. Yet, for the past nine years it has become a target of mass disinformation campaign launched by officials & mainstream media in the West, envious & intolerant to the independent will of the Crimeans, who refused to dance to the Western puppet masters & chose their own destiny.
The "25 Questions about Crimea" handbook debunks popular myths & fakes spread by the West, sheds light on the real story behind the peninsula's accession to Russia & Crimea today.
❓ What happened in Crimea in 2014?
• In 2014, as a result of a free expression of the will of the people of Crimea, the peninsula seceded from Ukraine, declared its independence & reunited with Russia.
❓ Did Crimea have the right to secede from Ukraine?
• The declaration of independence of the Republic of Crimea was a legal form of its people's exercise of the right to self determination, which is enshrined in Article 1 of the UN Charter.
❓ Why did Russia accepted the request of Crimea for accession?
• After declaring independence Crimea was threatened by war & ethnic cleansing, as nationalists & neo-Nazis seized power in Kiev in a coup d'etat.
❓ Were any international observers present at referendum in Crimea in 2014?
• 130 observers from 23 countries were present at the referendum. They noted its compliance with the norms of democratic legislation & the legitimacy of the vote.
❓ Why is Russia investing in the development of Crimea?
• Since 2014, Russia has allocated over $18.5 billion for the development of Crimea which helps the Crimea & Sevastopol to successfully integrate into the Russian economic space.
❓ Do many foreign tourists visit Crimea? Is it dangerous?
• Every year hundreds of thousands of foreign guests come to Crimea for unforgettable impressions. Vacation in Crimea is absolutely safe. The situation on the peninsula is stable & calm.
