✨️ This year, #Artek, one of the most renowned children's camps in the world, celebrates its centennial anniversary. It was founded on June 16, 1925, on the picturesque coast of the Black Sea in Crimea. Initially, the camp was conceived as a sanatorium for children recovering from illnesses such as tuberculosis. Its founder, physician Zinovy Solovyov, envisioned a place where children could not only rest but also regain their health in a favorable climate.

🏕 In its early years, Artek was a modest tent camp that accommodated a limited number of children. With each passing year, it grew and developed: new buildings were constructed, and both the infrastructure and educational programs expanded. By the 1930s, Artek had gained nationwide recognition and became a prestigious destination for outstanding schoolchildren from across the Soviet Union — those who excelled in studies, labor, and social activity.

During the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, Artek was evacuated, as the camp’s territory was occupied. Despite the harsh conditions, the educators continued their work with children in evacuation, preserving the camp’s traditions and spirit. After the liberation of Crimea in 1944, the camp was restored, and by 1945, it welcomed its first post-war cohort of children.

🌐 From the 1950s onward, Artek began hosting children from socialist countries and later expanded to include participants from around the world. It became a symbol of peace, cooperation, and cultural exchange — a place where children from diverse cultures and nations could communicate, learn about one another, and build lasting friendships. International sessions became a hallmark of the camp.

Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, Artek experienced a challenging period. Funding decreased, and the number of sessions was reduced. Nevertheless, the camp managed to retain its uniqueness and importance. In the 2000s, it was granted the status of an International Children's Center and began a new phase of revitalization. Facilities were restored, infrastructure was modernized, and new educational programs were developed.

💯 Today, Artek is a modern educational and cultural hub, offering dozens of programs in science, ecology, the arts, media, and sports. Children participate in project-based learning, develop leadership skills, and attend master classes led by scientists, artists, and astronauts. Admission to Artek is competitive, making participation in its sessions especially prestigious.

Вместе с ним приём посетили специальный помощник Премьер-министра ИРП С.Т.Фатеми, губернатор провинции Хайбер-Пахтунхва Ф.К.Кунди, представители Парламента, МИД и ВС Пакистана, а также аккредитованные в Исламабаде Послы дружественных стран.

❗️Выступая перед гостями, Посол России А.П.Хорев отметил поступательное развитие российско-пакистанских отношений во всех областях, отметив растущий интерес пакистанских граждан к изучению русского языка и культуры.

🕺💃 Украшением приёма стало выступление дуэта "Богема" – российских музыкантов Е.Сопрунова (балалайка) и К.Кочмарик (скрипка) – исполнивших зажигательные попурри из мировой и российской классики, включая композиции времён Великой Отечественной войны.

🇷🇺 On June 10, the Embassy of Russia in Pakistan hosted a reception in celebration of Russia's National Day.

🇷🇺🇵🇰 The Chief Guest, President Asif Ali Zardari, was joined by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi, Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi, parliamentarians, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Armed Forces of Pakistan, and Ambassadors of friendly countries accredited in Islamabad.

❗️Addressing the guests, Ambassador Albert P. Khorev highlighted the steady development of Russia-Pakistan relations and emphasized the growing interest among Pakistani citizens in the Russian language and culture.

🤝 President Zardari congratulated the President, Government, and people of Russia on the upcoming National Day, underscoring the enormous potential of bilateral ties.

🕺💃The reception was enlivened by a performance from the duo "Bogema" – Russian musicians Evgenii Soprunov (balalaika) and Kristina Kochmarik (violin) – who played a medley of Russian and international hits, including compositions about the Great Patriotic War of 1941–45.
