🎙 Highlights from President Vladimir Putin's answers to media questions

• The person who currently stands at the helm of the Kiev regime is becoming a toxic figure for the Ukrainian armed forces. He issues clumsy, ill-considered orders guided by a political agenda instead of military imperatives. <...> He is also becoming increasingly toxic for society in general.

• [Zelensky] has boxed himself into a corner by signing an order banning peace talks with the Russian Federation. He was the one who stopped these talks. What is this all about? What this means is that he evades talks. Why? Because once the talks begin, sooner or later, and probably quite quickly, they will lead to an end to martial law. Once this happens, he will have to hold an election.

• The Kiev regime leader will stand absolutely no chance of winning an election. His chances are zero – unless, of course, he blatantly rigs the election in one way or another

• President Trump's goal is to restore political stability in Ukraine, consolidate society and enable the Ukrainian state to survive. Overall, this benefits Ukraine more than Russia, since our conflict is with the current regime, not the country itself.

• We do not want Ukraine to be used as a launchpad for aggression against the Russian Federation, or as a hostile outpost targeting us. At the end of the day, we want it to evolve into a friendly neighbourly state.

• Unlike the US President, European political leaders are deeply entangled with the Kiev regime. They have made too many statements and promises and now it is very difficult or almost impossible for them to backtrack without losing face.

• Of course it is important that Europeans take part in the negotiating process. We have never refused anyone's request. In fact, we kept the conversation going with them at all times. But then came a point when they came up with this far-fetched and illusionary idea of defeating Russia on the battlefield. So it was they who rejected all contacts with us.

❌ Глава Форин Офиса Дэвид Лэмми в очередной раз позволил себе серию неприемлемых выпадов в адрес нашей страны и её руководства.

Причина понятна – инициатива в зоне СВО давно и прочно перешла к российским военным, а сам «украинский проект» буквально дышит на ладан. Кроме того, ставшие уже регулярными обвинения России во мнимом «империализме» являются ничем иным, как проявлением «фантомных болей» британского политического класса, сокрушающегося об угасании международного значения собственной страны.

Отмечаем прогрессирующий интерес госсекретаря к исторической науке. Однако стремление подстроить события прошлого под собственную монохромную картину мира едва ли увенчается успехом. Очевидна абсурдность попытки возложить на Россию ответственность за подрыв серии договорённостей в области европейской безопасности. Обвинения в «предательстве» Минских соглашений и Комплекса мер по их выполнению лишь подтверждают эту деформированную логику.

Публичные признания высокопоставленных «отставников» – Петра Порошенко, Ангелы Меркель, Франсуа Олланда, да и изредка напоминающего о себе Бориса Джонсона – доказывают, что Минские договорённости воспринимались ими как передышка для подготовки ВСУ к силовому решению «проблемы Донбасса».

Это только один из примеров, подтверждающих патологическую неспособность украинского руководства выполнять взятые на себя обязательства, равно как и «ценность» соответствующих гарантий их европейских спонсоров. И свидетельствующих об оправданности решения руководства нашей страны о начале специальной военной операции в феврале 2022 года.

В свете неоднократно проявлявшегося интереса Д.Лэмми к т.н. «длинной телеграмме» Джорджа Кеннана хотели бы порекомендовать ему обратиться и прислушаться к более поздним высказываниям американского дипломата. Особенно к оценкам расширения НАТО на Восток, которое, по Дж.Кеннану, стало бы «стратегическим просчётом» и «фатальной ошибкой». Эти высказывания, наглядно высвечивающие истинные причины украинского кризиса, стоило бы принять во внимание британскому руководству, столь истово защищающему «необратимый путь» Украины в альянс.

❗️ Пока же выступления главы Форин Офиса подтверждают нацеленность Лондона на торпедирование мирного урегулирования конфликта, спровоцированного при активном вовлечении Великобритании.

❌ UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy has once again resorted to unacceptable verbal attacks against our country and its leadership.

The reason for the outburst is clear – the Russian Armed Forces have firmly seized the initiative on the battlefield, whereas the "Ukrainian project" is teetering on the brink of collapse. Moreover, by routinely accusing Russia of harbouring "imperialist" designs the British political class has exposed its own "phantom pains" of being unable to come to terms with the UK's waning international relevance.

The Foreign Secretary's growing interest in historical studies is noteworthy. However, his attempts to doctor past events to fit his own monochrome worldview are unlikely to succeed. The pronouncement that Russia is somehow responsible for undermining European security agreements borders on the absurd. This distorted logic is further confirmed by allegations of Russia having "betrayed" the Minsk Agreements and the relevant Package of implementation measures.

Public admissions by former high-ranking officials – Petr Poroshenko, Angela Merkel, Francois Hollande as well as Boris Johnson, recently resurfaced, demonstrate that they all regarded the Minsk Agreements as a ruse to win time for the Ukrainian army to prepare to resolve the "Donbass problem" by military means.

This is just one example of many that attests to the pathological inability of the Ukrainian leadership to honour its commitments, as well as the "quality" of guarantees provided by its European sponsors.

Since David Lammy has on several occasions displayed a keen awareness of George Kennan's so-called "Long Telegram", we would advise him to look into and consider the American diplomat's subsequent observations. In particular, his candid assessments of NATO's eastward expansion, which Kennan described as a "strategic blunder" and a "fateful error". This clear-sighted analysis of the underlying causes of the Ukraine crisis should be taken into account by the British leadership, which so fervently defends Ukraine's "irreversible path" towards the alliance.

❗️ Meanwhile, the Foreign Secretary's statements make it clear that London's current agenda is to attempt to derail the process leading to the peaceful resolution of the conflict that has been provoked with the UK's active involvement.

💬 Объявленное премьер-министром Киром Стармером решение об увеличении военных расходов относится к внутренним делам Соединённого Королевства и, безусловно, не нуждалось бы в наших комментариях, если бы не ложный и провокационный антироссийский контекст, которым пытаются оправдать этот болезненный для британцев шаг.

Скажем прямо – у России куда больше оснований объявить Туманный Альбион «угрозой на море, в воздушном пространстве и на улицах», а заодно и источником нападений в киберсреде, следуя «терминологии» К.Стармера.

Ведь именно британское руководство ещё задолго до начала СВО предприняло титанические усилия, чтобы восстановить разделительные линии на европейском континенте, посеять недоверие и рознь в отношениях с нашей страной, а затем и создать по периметру российских границ вереницу очагов асимметричного противостояния, из которых наиболее деструктивным для мира и стабильности в Европе стал пестуемый Лондоном «украинский проект».

Чего стоит хотя бы упомянутая К.Стармером британская инсценировка под предлогом мифической атаки с химоружием в Солсбери в 2018 году, следствием которой, помимо безвестного исчезновения двоих наших граждан, стало осложнение Лондоном российско-британского взаимодействия и диалога между Москвой и европейскими столицами.

☝️ Тем самым был проложен путь к военно-политической эскалации.

А сегодня британские ракеты с согласия британского правительства бьют по целям в нашей стране, британские подданные с оружием в руках и танки британского производства оказываются на российской земле в боевых порядках украинских формирований. Об этом может рассказать схваченный в Курской области и обвиняемый в наёмничестве и терроризме англичанин Джеймс Андерсон.

Однако российское руководство никогда не шло по пути тиражирования примитивных пропагандистских штампов. Тем более странно слышать нечто подобное от премьера страны, подарившей миру гротескную историю противостояния «Океании» и «Евразии» в антиутопии Джорджа Оруэлла «1984». А ведь книга задумывалась автором именно как предостережение от оболванивания населения военной пропагандой.

❗️ Ответственно заявляем – Россия не создаёт никакой угрозы Великобритании – ни на море, ни в воздушном пространстве, ни на улицах, ни, тем более, для многострадальной системы здравоохранения. Нам это не нужно. Но эти придумки нужны британскому правительству, чтобы не заниматься реальными социально-экономическими проблемами страны.

Если в Лондоне решили встать на рельсы милитаризма и окончательно нивелировать выгодные «мирные дивиденды» постбиполярной эпохи, тем хуже для самой Британии.

💬 UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer's decision to increase military spending pertains to the internal affairs of the United Kingdom. It would most certainly not require our comments were it not for the false and provocative anti-Russian context being used to justify this painful step for the British public.

Let's face it — Russia has far more reason to declare the UK "a menace in our waters, in our airspace and on our streets", not to mention a launchpad of cyber-attacks, to use Mr Starmer’s own terminology.

After all, long before the Special Military Operation, it was the British leadership that went to great lengths to reinstate dividing lines on the European continent, to sow distrust and hostility in relations with Russia and ultimately to create a chain of hotspots of asymmetric conflict along Russia's borders. The most destructive of these for European peace and stability has been London's carefully nurtured "Ukrainian project".

Suffice to recall also the infamous British fabrication, cited by Mr Starmer, staged under the pretext of a fictitious chemical attack in Salisbury in 2018. The incident not only led to the mysterious disappearance of two Russian nationals, but also resulted in London's deliberate disruption of Russia-UK cooperation and damaged Moscow's dialogue with European capitals.

☝️ This paved the way for political and military escalation.

Today, British missiles – with the approval of the UK government – are being launched into sovereign Russian territory. Armed British nationals and UK-made tanks have been spotted within the ranks of Ukrainian militants on Russian soil. A case in point is James Anderson, a British citizen captured in the Kursk region and accused of mercenary activities and terrorism.

In spite of all this, the Russian leadership has never resorted to replicating primitive propaganda clichés. It is therefore particularly awkward to hear such rhetoric from the leader of a nation that gave the world the grotesque story of the confrontation between "Oceania" and "Eurasia" in George Orwell's dystopia "1984". Yet the author intended for his book to be a warning against duping the masses with war propaganda.

❗️ We assert with full responsibility that Russia poses no threat to the United Kingdom: neither in its waters, airspace, nor streets and certainly not to Britain's long-suffering National Health Service. We have no need to do so. It is the UK government that needs these fabrications to avoid dealing with the country’s very real social and economic problems.

If London has decided to go down the path of military jingoism and squander the valuable "peace dividends" of the post-Cold War era, then it is up to Britain to bear the brunt of the consequences.

💬 We all see how rapidly the world and the international situation are changing.

In this regard, I would like to note that the first contacts with the new US administration inspire certain hopes.

There is a reciprocal commitment to work to restore interstate relations and to gradually address the enormous amount of systemic and strategic problems in the global architecture which once provoked the crises in Ukraine and other regions.

Importantly, our partners demonstrate pragmatism and a realistic vision of things, and have abandoned numerous stereotypes, the so-called rules, and messianic, ideological clichés of their predecessors, which, in fact, caused the crisis of the entire system of international relations and, in fact, you and I can see it too, began to destroy the Western community itself from within. <...>

Today’s dynamic changes in the international landscape are to a great extent the result of the courage and fortitude of our Armed Forces. Through their valour and daily victories, they have created the conditions for the beginning of a serious dialogue on bringing a fundamental solution to Ukraine crisis, among others, including by peaceful means — a dialogue on creating a system that will truly ensure a balance and mutual consideration of interests, an indivisible European and global security system for the long term, where the security of some countries cannot be ensured at the expense or to the detriment of the security of other countries, definitely not Russia.

❌ We realise that not everyone is happy to see Russia-US contacts resume. A portion of Western elites are still committed to maintaining instability in the world, and these forces will try to disrupt or to compromise the newly resumed dialogue.

We need to keep this in mind and leverage every possibility offered by diplomacy and special services to thwart such attempts. It is important for us to staunchly uphold our national interests, sovereignty, and protect the lives and freedoms of our citizens against any threats.

⚡️ Russian MFA Spox Maria Zakharova's comment on Vladimir Zelensky's trip to Washington D.C.

💬 Zelensky’s visit to Washington D.C. is an epic political and diplomatic failure of the Kiev regime. <...>

With his outrageously rude behaviour during his stay in Washington, Zelensky reaffirmed his status as the most dangerous threat to the international community as an irresponsible figure that can stir up a major war.

This cynical individual will stop at nothing to achieve his goals and is obsessed with preserving the power he has usurped. This is why he has destroyed the opposition, built a totalitarian state and ruthlessly sent millions of his fellow citizens to their deaths.

Unable to show any sense of responsibility in the face of ever-worsening political conditions, he is obsessed with continuing the war and rejects peace, which for him means death.

Unprecedented in the history of international politics and diplomacy, a dressing down given to Zelensky by the US President in the White House is also indicative of the political weakness and extreme moral degradation of the European leaders who continue to support the mad leader of the Nazi regime who has lost touch with reality.

☝️ A truly just and lasting peace is not possible unless the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis are fully addressed.

The most important of these are the West's breaking of its promises not to expand NATO and the alliance's absorption of the entire geopolitical space of Europe up to Russia's borders, as well as the Kiev regime's systematic eradication of everything Russian, including language, culture and church.

• During Joe Biden’s tenure, our Western partners have shaped global public opinion to the point where a routine conversation [between Russia and the US] is perceived as something extraordinary.

• Where [Russian and American] interests do not coincide, it is the duty of the responsible nations not to allow this misalignment to degenerate into confrontation.

• Over the past 500 years – as the West has more or less taken the shape as we know it today, with certain modifications, of course – all the world's tragedies have originated in Europe or have occurred because of European policies.

• After Joe Biden's term, the new team wants to be guided by common sense. They openly say that they want to end all wars, that they want peace. But who says that the show – the war – must go on? It's Europe.

• The plan to send "peacekeepers" to Ukraine is a continuation of encouraging the Kiev regime to go to war against Russia. These "guys" have "trampled" the Minsk agreements. They recently admitted it. Our Western neighbours did not want to implement them.

• The UN Charter needs no revision. It remains relevant and requires nothing but respect and adherence.

Но не получившая юридического закрепления даже в собственных британских инстанциях клевета по-прежнему используется британским руководством в духе абсурдной презумпции виновности – как доказательство существования мнимой «российской угрозы». <...>

Мы, впрочем, не забываем, что при всей своей международно-политической значимости солсберийская история имеет и вполне конкретное человеческое измерение. До сих пор неизвестна судьба двух российских граждан, оказавшихся в фокусе произошедшего, – Сергея и Юлии Скрипалей. Лондон скрывает информацию не только о месте их нахождения, но и о состоянии здоровья, правовом статусе. <...>

🗓 On 4 March 2018, the English town of Salisbury became a scene for the notorious chemical incident that London exploited to undermine Russia-UK relations and to deliberately sabotage our country's ties with a number of other states.

The politically motivated nature of what had happened was evident from the outset. The UK government hastily assigned false blame to Russia, refused to liaise with Moscow on the issue via established intergovernmental mechanisms and opted for non-transparent procedures vulnerable to political manipulation. <...>

Now people from a different political party hold power in the UK. Meanwhile the same unsubstantiated allegations – never legally validated even within Britain's own system – continue to be used under the absurd presumption of guilt in support of a phantom "Russian menace". <...>

We will never forget that apart from international implications the Salisbury incident has a very tangible human dimension. The fate of two Russian citizens – Sergei and Yulia Skripal, both caught up in the incident, – remains unknown. The British authorities continue to withhold information regarding their whereabouts, state of health and legal status. <...>

We will continue to demand credible information from the UK authorities regarding Sergei and Yulia Skripal, as well as access to them in order to verify that they are not under any form of coercion.

☝️ At the same time, given that this provocation was in reality directed against Russia, we will persist in calling on the UK authorities to disclose the truth – not politically driven narratives, but hard facts – about what really happened in Salisbury on 4 March 2018.

🎙 Excerpt from Russian Ambassador to the UN Vassily Nebenzya's remarks prior to the GA Vote on a Draft Resolution on the 80th Anniversary of the End of WWII (4 March 2025)

💬 This year we will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazism, fascism and Japanese militarism. In 1945, the ideals of goodness, justice and humanity triumphed over the ugliest manifestations of the ideology of racial superiority. Our world, the United Nations, its Charter, which is the bedrock for contemporary international law – all these are the outcomes of that victory.

This victory came at a high price. Thus, the peoples of the Soviet Union sacrificed 27 million people, China – 35 million, the United States – about half a million people; Serbia organized the largest anti-fascist resistance and partisan movement in Europe.

There were millions of losses among other members of the anti-Hitler coalition, and not only in Europe but also in Latin America and Asia. There were hostilities on the African continent as well. Furthermore, hundreds of thousands of African soldiers were sent to the European front. When they returned home, those heroes played an important role in launching the decolonization process.

❗️The victory was only possible owing to the unprecedented unity of the Powers and their peoples in the face of absolute evil.

It was not by chance that the members of the anti-Hitler coalition dubbed themselves the United Nations. And as members of the international organization that bears precisely that name, we are bound today by our shared duty to honor the feat of our heroes and to remember both those who fell on the battlefields and the unprecedented sacrifices among civilians: we must remember all those who died from hunger, who were sent to gas chambers or shot in mass executions.

👩‍🚀 On March 6, 1937, world’s first female cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova was born. To this day, she remains the youngest woman to travel into space, as well as the only woman who flew to the Earth’s orbit alone. She was only 26 years old back at the time of her historic flight.

From a young age, Valentina was interested in aviation and parachuting, which helped her join the cosmonaut corps in 1962. She underwent difficult training, learning how to pilot a spaceship and passing endurance tests. After completing her training, she was selected for a flight under the Vostok programme.

On June 16, 1963, Valentina Tereshkova set off on her historic journey on board the Vostok-6 spacecraft. Her mission lasted just under three days, in which she orbited the Earth 48 times.

💬 Tereshkova recalled her impressions on board:

Every 90 minutes I saw the dawn, the sun rising in a unique array of colours.

Despite all the difficulties, including severe fatigue and waning health, Tereshkova successfully completed her mission and returned safely to Earth. Valentina even managed to take a series of photographs of the horizon, which were later used to identify aerosol layers within the atmosphere.

Tereshkova’s space flight was a global sensation. Western media hailed it as another success of the Soviet space programme. For the United States, the USSR’s main rival in the space race, it was inconceivable. The American space agency did not take the idea of a woman flying into space seriously at the time.

🎖 Valentina Tereshkova boarded the spaceship as a lieutenant, and returned to Earth with the rank of captain. Three days after the landing, she was also awarded the noscript of Hero of the Soviet Union.

A Soviet woman’s flight to the orbit reaffirmed the Soviet Union’s leadership in space exploration and inspired millions of girls in our country and abroad.

Ironically, after Zelensky’s fiasco at the meeting in the White House on February 28, the “get-together” in London – albeit planned in advance – offered him some comfort, as it was a meeting of unconditional supporters of the Kiev regime. Now it has come down to the support of the Kiev regime to the last Ukrainian. <...>

The summit participants agreed on a number of principles that they intend to adhere to with regard to Ukraine. Along with continuing military supplies, they confirmed their intention to increase sanctions pressure on Russia <...> so as to ensure the participation of the Kiev regime in the “peace deal” and to strengthen its defence potential after the end of the conflict in order to deter “aggression” in the future.

☝️However, judging by Keir Starmer’s statements, the meeting organisers failed to achieve their main objective – to consolidate the supporters of Zelensky’s regime. <...>

• President of Russia Vladimir Putin said a number of times, we are always ready for talks. Yet, our national interests must be guaranteed. The root cause of the conflict in Ukraine must be eradicated. <...> I would like to remind you that, first and foremost, we speak about eradication of threats to security of Russia from the Ukrainian and the western direction, which emerged following the NATO expansion to the east and the necessity to cease the practice, which the Kiev regime adopted, to exterminate everything which is somewhat connected to Russia and the Russian world: the Russian language, culture, canonical Orthodoxy, and Russian-speaking media.

• The 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War is the pinnacle event of the year. The Foreign Ministry, as well as other government agencies, is preparing to celebrate it in the most fitting manner, paying tribute to the memory of the heroic deeds of our predecessors. • The 80th anniversary of the Great Victory is especially important for relations with Russia’s neighbouring countries, because our grandfathers and great-grandfathers fought the Nazi invaders and collaborators from most European countries shoulder to shoulder. This is why the appeal of the CIS Heads of State to the CIS peoples and the international community on the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 was adopted on October 8, 2024 in Moscow. The year of 2025 in the CIS was declared the Year of the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War – Year of Peace and Unity in the Fight against Nazism. The CIS governing bodies have also decided to establish a CIS jubilee medal, The 80 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
