🤦 A tidal wave of hastily concocted fantasy stories about the so-called "Russian threat" has been sweeping the pages of the UK press.
This time the threat allegedly lurks in the sea depths off the British shores. The narrative blends a surreal medley of fables about Russian research vessels and "oligarchs’ superyachts" executing military tasks, endless tales of cybercriminals targeting the British Army, as well as speculations about mysterious robotic tentacles with which Moscow allegedly seeks to tamper with UK's underwater infrastructure.
This low-grade Jules Verne cosplay is crowned by the Daily Mail's call for Britons to start packing batteries, foodstuffs and Swiss Army knives to survive the imminent mass blackouts in the UK caused by Russian deep sea sabotage.
In this abyss of fabrication, the truth has gone under without a trace.
❗️ Russia has never posed a threat to the security of the UK or its people.
If they are imperiled by anything, it is by the British establishment's consistent policy of fostering confrontation with Russia, creating hotspots of tensions along Russian borders and exacerbating the military and political situation across Europe. Neither the dwindling public funds nor the nation's reputation have been spared for the sake of these ignoble and dangerous aims.
Yet again, with new baseless allegations London is making last-ditch effort to obstruct progress towards a negotiated resolution of the Ukraine conflict and suppress emerging positive signs in Russia-US relations.
☝️ The UK establishment persists in distracting attention from mounting socio-economic issues within the country. It is attempting to justify the increase in military spending amidst budgetary austerity.
Frankly, these orchestrated bursts of media alarmism, instigated by local intelligence services, have become quite repetitive.

В целях разгрузки очереди в консульский отдел Посольства России в Великобритании 12 апреля (суббота) с 9:00 до 13:00 и с 14:00 до 17:00 состоится приём граждан по вопросам оформления заграничных паспортов и осуществления нотариальных действий в порядке живой очереди.
Оплата консульских услуг будет производиться исключительно по безналичному расчёту (банковской картой) с учётом сбора за осуществление консульских действий в нерабочий день с комиссией за эквайринг.
Просьба обратить особое внимание на следующее 👇
1. Оформление паспортов:
- приём заявлений на оформление паспортов будет осуществляться при строгом соблюдении требований к комплекту необходимых документов, указанному на сайте;
- приём документов на оформление паспортов не осуществляется, если заграничный паспорт утрачен или срок его действия истёк, а общегражданский («внутренний») паспорт отсутствует и процедура подтверждения наличия гражданства Российской Федерации не пройдена;
- заявление о выдаче паспорта должно быть заполнено заблаговременно и в соответствии с установленными критериями.
2. Нотариальные действия:
Следующие нотариальные действия — доверенности, согласия, заявления, удостоверение верности переводов документов, свидетельствование копий, а также оформление документов с электронной цифровой подписью — будут осуществляться при строгом соблюдении требований, указанных на сайте.
Будут доступны истребование документов и оформление справок об отсутствии судимости.
При этом необходимо заранее направить на электронный адрес секции нотариата (notariat.london@kdmid.ru, notariat@rusemb.org.uk) с указанием ФИО, а также электронной почты и номера телефона подлежащие оформлению документы в формате Word.

On the same day, Russian diplomats honoured the memory of two other Soviet soldiers, placing flowers at their burials in Shaftesbury, Dorset, and Aldershot, Hampshire.
According to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, there are currently 18 confirmed graves of Soviet servicemen on British soil who lost their lives during the Second World War.

🧑🚀 On 12 April 1961, Yuri Gagarin, a 27-year-old Soviet pilot, became the first human to venture into space, orbiting the Earth for 108 minutes aboard Vostok 1.

Just a few months later, Yuri Gagarin landed in a different kind of spotlight — this time in the UK. Though Cold War tensions were high and the visit was politically sensitive, Britain couldn't resist the charm of the man who had seen the stars.
From 11 to 15 July 1961, crowds lined the streets of London and Manchester to catch a glimpse of the spaceman, British newspapers were abuzz and the Queen herself invited him to Buckingham Palace.
On a famously rainy Mancunian day, Gagarin visited the Metropolitan-Vickers engineering plant. He was invited by the Amalgamated Union of Foundry Workers — a nice touch, since he had started his own working life in a steel factory. When he saw crowds braving the downpour, he insisted the roof of his Rolls-Royce be lowered: "Surely the least I can do is get wet too", he said. For many Britons, that simple act — full of modesty, charm, and warmth — showed the real person behind the space mission.
