🗓 On March 18, 2014, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov, Chairman of the State Council of Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov and Head of Sevastopol Alexey Chaly signed the Agreement formalising Crimea’s reunification with the Russian Federation.

🗳 This historic moment occurred just two days after the all-Crimean referendum had been held. 96.77% of Crimeans and 95.6% of Sevastopol residents supported reunification with Russia. It was the embodiment of the right of peoples for self-determination and a true triumph of democracy.

💬 President Putin: In people’s hearts and minds, Crimea has always been an inseparable part of Russia. This firm conviction is based on truth and justice and was passed from generation to generation, over time, under any circumstances (from the Address by the President of the Russian Federation on March 18, 2014).

The ensuing developments, including attempts by the post-coup Ukrainian authorities to punish the peninsula's population, prove that the decision of Crimeans to reunite with Russia was the only way to go. Having made their choice to be with their historical homeland, with Russia, the residents of Crimea avoided the fate of the many Russians and Russian-speakers, did not fall victim to the Russophobic Kiev regime.

Instead, the peninsula and its people flourished, overcoming decades of neglect and decay under Ukraine, becoming one of the most rapidly developing region worldwide.

💬 Sergey Lavrov: The question of who Crimea and Sevastopol belong to is closed. The peninsula is an integral part of the Russian Federation (from the address of Russia's Foreign Minister on the 10th anniversary of the Crimean Spring, March 16, 2014).

💬 Russia's MFA Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova: If people lining up abroad to vote in the Russian presidential elections participated in a protest, they would have dispersed after noon. But they were lining on Friday, and on Saturday, and on Sunday. Neither did they disperse on Sunday after 1 pm. They did not leave until late in the evening.

Russian embassies sent additional staff to help people get inside and vote.

Russian сitizens did not come to attend some protest or performance, as certain unfriendly regimes and their paid media sidekicks are trying to portray. They came to vote, taking advantage of the opportunity that their country, Russia, has provided to them despite all Western threats. It was up to them for whom and how to vote. And they did so of their own free will. But it is clear to everyone that they have rejected calls from the marginals.

I wonder whether the Western propagandists will describe the fact that Russian citizens on different continents came to polling stations to vote in the evening and lined until dark as “midnight protests,” or what remains of their conscience will make them see the objective reality?

Incidentally, in 2018 there were similar lines in front of the same embassies at the same time in Berlin, Bangkok, Madrid, Paris, and many other cities.

The same Western propagandists will never let out that the German authorities have closed Russia’s general consulates in Frankfort on the Main, Leipzig, Hamburg and Munich in order, among other things, to prevent Russian citizens from voting. The authorities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, etc. have expelled hundreds of Russian diplomats between them. In a bid to complicate the vote, Austria declared two Russian diplomats personae non grata shortly before the voting day without explaining the reasons.

They did their worst but it turned out our way! 🇷🇺

🎙 Comment by Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on the Kiev regime’s terrorist attacks during the presidential elections in Russia

💬 On March 17, the Kiev regime launched yet another missile attack on Belgorod in Russia, as millions of Russian citizens across the country and abroad went to the polls in the presidential elections to implement their constitutional right to choose the head of state. A 16-year-old girl was killed as a result of this brutal terrorist assault. The Ukrainian Armed Forces target residential houses and crowded public places in Russian cities. As it was reported before, the Russian investigative authorities record all the crimes committed by the neo-Nazi Kiev regime. The masterminds and perpetrators of terrorist attacks will face a well-deserved and inevitable punishment.

A helicopter-crippling drone attack on an airfield in Tiraspol, Transnistria, was obviously an attempt to rock things out of balance in that region and saw panic among people voting in the Russian presidential elections. But it failed to discourage 220,000 Russian citizens living in Transnistria from going to the polls.

The Moldovan authorities’ statements of non-involvement in the Ukrainian strike look ludicrous. Everyone is aware that the despairing and agonising Kiev regime is suffering defeat after defeat on the battlefield and using terrorist methods as a last resort.

We are grateful to all Russian citizens there for resisting intimidation and casting their ballot for the presidential candidate of their choice.

🎉 Today, our country celebrates the 🔟th Anniversary of the historic reunification of Crimea with Russia.

The past decade has seen Crimea change dramatically, as Russia has done tremendous work to improve the region’s economic, investment, cultural and tourist appeal. Today, Crimea is one of the fastest growing regions not only in Russia, but in the entire continent.

💬 Sergey Lavrov: Large projects which contribute to reviving and renewing Crimea, helping it integrate into the political, legal and socioeconomic space of Russia and improve the quality of life, have been implemented and some are underway. (from the Russian Foreign Minister’s video address on the 10th anniversary of the Crimean Spring, Moscow, March 16, 2024).

Over the past 10 years:

Major transport infrastructure facilities have been developed:

Crimean Bridge, the longest bridge in Europe, and a symbol of Crimea’s reunification with Russia.

Simferopol International Airport, one of the most comfortable, well-equipped, and up-to-date airports in Russia.

The Tavrida highway, connecting cities from Kerch to Sevastopol.

Social facilities upgraded or built anew:

• More than 7 million square metres of housing made available.

• Several multipurpose medical centres opened, including the Semashko Republican Clinical Hospital.

Artek, the largest international children’s centre in the world, was renovated.

• Three major sports facilities built, including the Water Sports Palace in Simferopol.

Ten schools have been built and 160 kindergartens have opened.

🤝 Much has been done to harmonise ethnic and religious relations in the peninsula. An atmosphere of inter-ethnic and inter-religious harmony is now maintained in Crimea. Linguistic equality and diversity are respected.

Today, Crimea has everything to ensure its further effective long-term development, and Crimeans can look to the future with confidence and optimism.

🚀 March 18 marks one of the most important dates in the history of space exploration. It was on this day 5️⃣9️⃣ years ago, in 1965, that Soviet cosmonaut Alexey Leonov performed the first ever spacewalk. Having stepped out of the "Voskhod-2" spacecraft, piloted by Pavel Belyaev, into near-Earth space, Leonov added another great achievement to the hall of fame of Soviet/Russian cosmonautics.

The spacewalk itself lasted 23 minutes & 41 seconds, 12 minutes & 9 seconds of which were spent in free fall, floating in space.

As I stepped out from the airlock, I felt a powerful stream of light and heat, reminiscent of electric welding. Above me was a black sky and bright, unblinking stars. The sun appeared to me as a glowing disc of fire.

This is how Alexey Leonov described his feelings, speaking from the podium of Moscow Mausoleum. Together with his crewmate Pavel Belyaev, they were hailed as heroes by the whole Moscow city.

🎖 Lieutenant Colonel Alexey Leonov was awarded the noscript of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star Medal for the successful flight, along with the courage & heroism shown during it.

Today, spacewalk is a routine (still a highlight though) of the otherwise busy ISS schedule: scientific research, repair work, installation of new equipment on the station's exterior, launch of small satellites and much more. All this was made possible thanks to the colossal work and joint efforts of many Soviet specialists and enterprises, as well as the personal courage of our cosmonauts.

⚡️ Roskomnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media):

During the presidential election, Roskomnadzor’s Public Communications Network Monitoring and Management Centre (PCNMMC) had to adopt countermeasures against 497 DDoS attacks at Russia’s ICT infrastructure.

During the election, Roskomnadzor specialists protected 920 important Russian resources. The main vector of DDoS attacks was aimed at the resources of the Central Election Commission and at Moscow’s remote online voting. Attacks were conducted at all election infrastructure resources at the same time. The most powerful attack was 87 Gb/S, the longest lasted for 40 hours 12 minutes.

❗️ Germany, the UK, the US, Finland and Lithuania were the main sources of the attacks.

Active countermeasures by the PCNMMC neutralised the impact of the attacks on Russian infrastructure. The attacks did not cause any mishaps or loss of access to Russian resources. All attacks were rebuffed.

Five phishing websites imitating electoral resources were also blocked during these days.

🎙 President Vladimir Putin attended a concert on Red Square to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Crimea and Sevastopol’s reunification with the Russian Federation (March 18, 2024)

💬 Vladimir Putin: From the bottom of my heart, I welcome and congratulate you all on the anniversary of the reunification of Crimea and Sevastopol with Russia!

Exactly ten years ago, taking the same stage on Red Square, I recalled that Crimea is often called the unsinkable aircraft carrier. This is what prompted me to say that Crimea had returned to its home harbour.

❗️ However, Crimea is not only a strategically vital territory, not only part of our history, our traditions and Russia’s pride. Crimea is primarily its people. The people of Sevastopol and Crimea, they are our pride. They remained faithful to the homeland over the decades, they never separated themselves from Russia, and this is precisely what made it possible for Crimea to come back to our common family.

The same is true of Donbass and Novorossiya. The people living there expressed their will to return to their family during the days of the “Russian Spring.” Their path home involved much greater difficulty and tragedy. Nevertheless, we did it, and it is also a great event in the history of our state.

Now we are making progress and moving forward together, side by side. Just this morning, I received a report that the railway from Rostov to Donetsk, Mariupol and Berdyansk has been restored. We will continue this work and soon trains will go straight to Sevastopol. This would be yet another alternative route – instead of the Crimean Bridge.

We will carry on like this together, hand in hand. This is what makes us truly stronger – not in words but in deeds. And credit for all this goes to you, citizens of Russia.

🇷🇺🚆 The railway line from Rostov-on-Don to Donetsk, Berdyansk, and Melitopol has been restored

This mainline will serve as an alternative route to the Crimean Bridge for the peninsula and will assist in the development of new territories. Plans are underway to extend the line to Sevastopol.

Such a project aligns with the development strategy of Novorossiya. This strategy also includes the construction of a circular highway around the Sea of Azov, which will streamline logistics for industry and tourism.

🎙️Embassy comment on statements by British officials on the results of the presidential elections in Russia

︎UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron has made knowingly biased assessments on the results of presidential elections in the Russian Federation that took place on March 15-17.

︎In the past few days British officials surpassed themselves in hypocritical statements designed to discredit the free expression of the will of the Russian people. British diplomatic and consular missions in our country were on the verge of blatantly interfering in its internal affairs by practically inciting to spoil ballots during polling days.

David Cameron’s unacceptable speculations about the “undemocratic” nature of the elections cannot be interpreted as anything but evidence of London’s desperation. After all, machinations of the collective West to change our country’s “behavior” by destabilising it have failed.

☝️Voting results have convincingly demonstrated the maturity and unity of Russian society and its comprehensive support for the foreign policy course of our country’s leadership. Apparently, having grasped this, the British establishment has become nervous.

We call on London to abandon its confrontational logic and the promotion of anti-Russian rhetoric. It is immoral to sponsor and cover up the pervasive crimes of the Ukrainian military that relishes its strikes against new regions of the Russian Federation – including polling stations located within their territory, which are a priori non-military targets.

🗓 Russia & Crimea have gone hand in hand throughout history dating all the way back to the second half of the X century, when the peninsula’s eastern part was included in the Ancient Rus' Principality of Tmutarakan.

☦️ The Rus' reinforced its position in Crimea after the successful campaign by Grand Prince Vladimir against the Byzantine city of Korsun' in 988. It was here, in Tauric Chersonesus that Vladimir the Great was baptised & initiated Christianisation of Rus' — a decision that largely determined the future of our Motherland, its cultural & historical path.

In the XIII century, the Golden Horde seized Crimean lands. After its collapse, the Crimean Khanate, vassal of the Ottoman Empire, emerged in the XV century. During the Russo-Turkish War of 1768–1774, Russia ended the Ottoman domination on the peninsula.

📜 In 1783, Catherine the Great issued a Manifesto on the accession of the Crimean Peninsula to the Russian Empire. This was done on requests of Crimeans themselves.

⚔️ Subsequently, Russian soldiers bravely & honourably defended the peninsula against Russia's enemies. We remember the heroes who fell during the Defence of Sevastopol in 1854-1855 & the Soviet soldiers during the Great Patriotic War's Battle for Crimea.

In 1954, Crimea was incorporated into the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic against the will of its residents & in violation of the law.

🗳 In the 1990s, residents of Crimea repeatedly attempted to receive broader autonomy from Ukraine & enhance their historical ties with Russia.

What did Kiev do? It substantially limited the rights & freedoms of the Crimeans. And following the February 2014 coup d'état & the seizing of power by the nationalists, there emerged a very tangible threat of the same kind of brutal violence to be used against the peninsula's residents.

🇷🇺 On March 18, 2014 the much-awaited reunification took place — based on the free expression of will by Crimeans in the March 16 referendum Crimea acceded to Russia, reuniting once again & now forever!

🌷Today marks International Nowruz Day, a holiday symbolising new beginnings and the arrival of spring.

Nowruz (Persian — "new day") is considered the start of the new year by more than 300 million people around the world and has been celebrated for over 3,000 years in Central Asia, the Balkans, the Black Sea Basin, the Caucasus, the Middle East and other regions.

📜 Nowruz originated in Ancient Persia. It marked the arrival of summer and the defeat of the evil spirit. The holiday acquired particular importance during the reign of the Achaemenid dynasty in the 400s-500s BC. Nowruz regained its status under the Safavid dynasty, with the holiday rituals becoming increasingly elaborate up to the XX century as a means of demonstrating power and grandeur.

Over time, Nowruz has not only become a national holiday but a cultural event, which unites various nations and faiths in mutual respect.

🇷🇺 Nowruz is an essential and integral part of the historical, cultural, and spiritual heritage of many peoples of Russia and is widely celebrated in Dagestan, Tatarstan, and Bashkiria.

Celebrations will take to the streets of Moscow as well. Participants of the 18th citywide festival will share stories about family traditions, showcase their national cultures and rituals.

🎉 Happy Nowruz to everyone celebrating the holiday of renewal and spring! Many wishes of success and family well-being!

🎙 President Vladimir Putin's address to Russian citizens on the outcome of the presidential election (March 21, 2024)

💬 The official results of the presidential election were announced today. The election campaign, which was extremely important for our country, society and citizens, has come to a close.

<...>

This election campaign was intense and extremely important. At the end of the day, we were choosing Russia's future direction; we were deciding on our own future and that of our children. The absolute majority of the voters who cast their ballot realised the significance of this event.

Once again, I would like to thank everyone who took part in the voting, regardless of which candidate you voted for. Most importantly, you have shown that you treat your civic duty with respect, value freedom of choice and your vote, and to reiterate, every one of your votes was of great importance.

<...>

Thank you for your support. It is more important to me than the formal victory in the elections. It signifies support for the political and economic policies of our country and our overall results, which, of course, should be more extensive, but are nonetheless making Russia stronger and more independent.

A few words about the performance of election commissions at all levels. As always, you acted efficiently and competently, adhering to the principles of transparency and strict compliance with the law. The members of the election commissions in our historical territories showed courage and bravery, serving as an example for voters.

Thank you for your trust. <...> We will do everything possible to ensure the successful implementation of the ambitious national projects and programmes that I recently outlined in my Address.

🇷🇺 The elections have revealed that Russia today is one big, closely-knit family. We are steadfastly following the historical path we have chosen. We have confidence in ourselves, our abilities, and our future.

🇷🇺🇷🇸 Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks during a meeting with First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Serbia Ivica Dacic (Moscow, March 21, 2024)

💬 We are glad to see you. We value the relations that are developing between the Russian Federation and Serbia. Their direction is set by regular contacts between our presidents, Vladimir Putin and Aleksandar Vucic. <...>

⚽️ Today we will attend a football match between the Russian and Serbian national teams. The interest in this event will be enormous. The stadium will be full. I am sure the players will show their best game.

☝️Such meetings strengthen the foundations of the international sport movement and fully comply with the principles of Olympism, which have been going through trials in recent years. This is not least due to the position of the IOC. We consider it unacceptable to politicise sport.

This Western policy continues with the support of international officials. It does not look like it will end anytime soon. It reflects the course taken by the "collective West", led by the United States, towards the politicisation of all international relations, including trade and economic relations. Their actions discredit the institutions (International Monetary Fund, World Bank, World Trade Organisation) created after World War II to regulate global processes. <...>

🇺🇳 Of particular importance is collective work at the UN and other multilateral structures to uphold the principles underlying the international system created after the Second World War. The West is clearly not interested in fulfilling them. <...>

Today we expect to discuss in depth our bilateral affairs and cooperation on international platforms. We are interested in hearing your assessment of what is happening in the Balkans, where a serious situation has developed. We are all interested in preventing new crises.
