🗓 25 years ago, to the day, on March 24, 1999, NATO launched a full-scale aggression and started mercilessly bombing Yugoslavia in gross violation of the fundamental principles of international law enshrined in the UN Charter.
The US and NATO’s military operation against Belgrade was undertaken without the approval of the UNSC
The US & its cronies bombed the cities, including Belgrade, villages & civilian infrastructure for 78 days, blowing up bridges, passenger trains and buses and killing women, children & elderly people. By doing that, the West destroyed the post-WWII foundations of European security and started replacing the legitimate mechanisms that regulated international relations with a “rules-based order”.
▪️ 3,000 cruise missiles were fired at a sovereign European republic, & 80,000 tonnes of aerial bombs were dropped on the heads of people.
The use of depleted uranium ammunition contaminated vast areas & caused an unprecedented rise in cancer-related diseases, which affects people up to this day. 200,000+ non-Albanian residents of Kosovo, who had to flee from their homes, have still not yet returned there.
Using the aggression as a pretext, members of the so-called Kosovo Liberation Army committed heinous crimes, including the kidnapping and murder of Serbs for body parts. Many of these criminals are still at large.
❗️ No NATO representative has been called to account. The victims of the aggression were written off as “collateral damage,” which means that they were the civilian casualties of the operations conducted by the United States, Britain and their satellites to attain their geopolitical ambitions.
The question of the NATO allies’ responsibility for the damage they have done to international relations and Yugoslavia remains open.
🕯 The military operation NATO waged against sovereign Yugoslavia more than 20 years ago is a tragedy inflicted upon the people of Yugoslavia by NATO warmongers with lasting and multifaceted consequences.

🇷🇺🇺🇳 Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN:
🎙 Statement Permanent Representative Vassily Nebenzia at the UN Security Council with regard to the 25th anniversary of NATO aggression against Yugoslavia (March 25, 2024)
💬 On March 24, 1999, a US-led coalition of countries of "defensive alliance" invaded the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia on the pretext of stopping the ethnic cleansing allegedly taking place in Kosovo.
<...>
NATO’s aggression against a sovereign country lasted 78 days and resulted in unimaginable suffering, numerous victims and catastrophic devastation for its population.
The aggression against Yugoslavia was a flagrant violation of international law: the fundamental purposes and principles of the UN Charter, the Helsinki Final Act of the CSCE, and the norms and principles of international humanitarian law.
❗️ Since the beginning of the blood-stained collapse of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, orchestrated and sponsored by the US, Germany and others, and the attack on Yugoslavia, the Alliance has undermined the established security architecture that had ensured peace in Europe for many decades.
The attack on Yugoslavia launched a series of large-scale aggressions by the US and its allies around the world: against Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, Syria. Everyone knows what they led to. The anti-constitutional coup in Kiev in 2014 also tracks its roots back there.
☝️ Some Security Council colleagues would probably say that the events of 25 years ago are "history" and have no relevance today. However, it is clear to any reasonable mind that the destruction of a sovereign state led to the chaos that is gaining momentum today, and not only in Kosovo but in the Balkans as a whole.

❗️ President Vladimir Putin held a videoconference meeting on measures being taken after the terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall concert venue (March 25, 2024)
💬 We know that the crime was perpetrated by radical Islamists. The Islamic World itself has been fighting this ideology for centuries. But we are also seeing how the US is using different channels to try and convince its satellites and other countries of the world that, according to its intelligence, there is supposedly no sign of Kiev’s involvement in the Moscow terrorist attack, that the deadly terrorist attack was perpetrated by followers of Islam, members of ISIS, an organisation banned in Russia.
We know whose hands were used to commit this atrocity against Russia and its people.
We want to know who ordered it.
We need to obtain answers to a number of questions.
For example, do radical and even terrorist Islamist organisations truly have an interest in launching attacks on Russia now that it supports a fair resolution of the escalated conflict in the Middle East?
And how do radical Islamists, who present themselves as devout Muslims <...>, justify committing atrocities and serious crimes during the holy month of Ramadan, which is sacred to all Muslims? <...>
This leads to the next question: who stands to benefit from it?
This act of violence is likely just one in a series of attempts by those who have been fighting against our country since 2014, using the neo-Nazi Kiev regime as a pawn. As for the neo-Nazis, it is widely known that they have never hesitated to employ the most repugnant and inhumane methods to achieve their aims.
Of course, we must also answer the question of why the terrorists, after committing their crime, attempted to flee specifically to Ukraine. Who was waiting for them there? It is clear that those supporting the Kiev regime do not wish to be implicated in acts of terrorism and be seen as sponsors of terrorism.

Josep Borrell, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy: “We cannot afford Russia win this war. Otherwise, the US and European interests will be very damaged. It's not a matter of generosity alone. It's not a matter of supporting Ukraine because we love Ukrainian people. It’s in our own interests, and it’s also in the interests of the US as a global player – someone who has to be perceived as a reliable partner, a security provider to the allies.”
💬 Maria Zakharova: This is the first time that a representative of the Western regimes has been so explicit about the nature of current developments. It’s not about love for the Ukrainians, whom the West has practically wiped out. It’s about the United States being eager to maintain its hegemony and preserve its diminishing role in international affairs. There is hardly any trace left of the former constructive approach of the US towards international relations. The liberal democrats can only bring ruin, seeing this skill as a guarantee of domination. As for the EU, its task at this stage is to obediently fetch the ammunition bought with the money of its own citizens, whose opinion has not been asked.

❗️On the Russian Federation’s non-recognition of the outer limits of the unilaterally established US continental shelf
On March 18-29, Kingston (Jamaica) is hosting a session of the Council of the International Seabed Authority (hereinafter referred to as the Authority). In accordance with the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, it is supposed to regulate the activities of states in the deep seabed of areas that are not subject to the national jurisdiction of the coastal states.
During the session, the Russian delegation announced its refusal to recognise the outer limits of the US continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles from the baselines from which the width of the territorial sea is measured in seven areas of the world’s oceans. The US declared this in December 2023. It is unilaterally trying to reduce the area of the seabed under the Authority, and hence the entire international community, and to obtain additional sections of the shelf for its own use (about 1 million square kilometres).
☝️ These unilateral steps by the US do not conform to the rules and procedures established by international law. The Russian delegation criticised the selective approach of the US to the application of international law, focusing on its rights and completely ignoring its obligations, and blocked Washington’s latest attempt to use the 1982 Convention exclusively to advance its own interests.
Earlier, a corresponding demarche was sent to the US through bilateral channels.

💬 Today, the High Court in London handed down an interim ruling to delay the extradition of the founder of the WikiLeaks portal, Australian investigative journalist Julian Assange, to the United States. <...>
It took the British justice system 161 months - almost 5,000 days - more than 13 years to decide ... TO WAIT SOME MORE!
Even counting from the arrest, 60 months, five years, have passed.
However, counting it that way begs the question: what have the British been busy with all that time as the Australian was sitting one street away in the Ecuadorian embassy? As a result of London’s pressure, he was in conditions of torture, confined to a small room with no access to the outside world and under round-the-clock surveillance by Scotland Yard.
The entire UK justice system has become a farce and a laughing stock for the whole world. All this is a mockery of human dignity committed by the woefully inefficient and punitive British pseudo-justice system.
It took London that many years to hand down a criminal procedural decision against the journalist.
🤷 On the other hand, London "knew everything" about who ordered the terrorist attack in Krasnogorsk just a few hours after it took place.
The dome of Old Bailey - the central criminal court in London - features a statue of Themis. With her eyes wide open, she looks west to America.
Julian Assange, who has devoted his life to exposing the secrets of the British and American intelligence conglomerate, is becoming a victim of the corrupt British pseudo-Themis.
Once again, we draw the attention of the international community to the ongoing persecution of an investigative journalist at Washington’s behest.
❗️ This case has for many years now been causing serious damage to the institution of journalism and independent media, and violates the fundamental principles of freedom of speech and human rights.

🇺🇳 On the UNSC's consideration of the situation in Gaza
Read in full
🗓 On March 22, the UN Security Council voted on the US draft resolution concerning the situation in Gaza. The text was submitted after the US alone vetoed the February 20 Algerian draft demanding an immediate ceasefire. The US representatives made assurances that their document would allegedly allow the UNSC to make the right decision and claimed, publicly too, that they were in favour of ending the bloodshed in the enclave.
👉 In reality, however, the American draft that was put to a vote after four weeks of drawn-out consultations contained only a general imperative to stop the hostilities on the strict condition that the hostages are released. It included one-sided condemnation of Hamas qualifying it as a terrorist movement, but made no mention of Israel as an occupying power or its multiple violations of humanitarian obligations.
The text was not supported by the majority of UNSC member states and was rejected by the Palestinians and representatives of the Arab group. In the end, the Algerian delegation representing the countries of the region voted against it. Guyana abstained, and Russia and China vetoed it.
In parallel, the ten non-permanent members of the Security Council put together and then put to a vote their alternative draft resolution. On March 25, it was adopted by 14 votes in favour, with the United States abstaining. UNSC Resolution 2728 clearly and unambiguously enshrines the demand for “an immediate ceasefire for the month of Ramadan respected by all parties, leading to a lasting sustainable ceasefire.” It also contains demands to ensure humanitarian access to those in need, the immediate release of hostages, and compliance with the obligations established by international humanitarian law with respect to all detainees.
🇷🇺 Russia remains convinced that the opportunity to act on the UN Security Council resolution, which the United States has so persistently and hypocritically obstructed, must be taken.

The Interior Minister of Germany Nancy Faeser said in an interview with the magazine Der Spiegel: “Germany will amend the test for citizenship candidates to include questions about the Holocaust, Judaism and the history of Israel.
Germany bears special responsibility for protecting Jews and the State of Israel because of the Holocaust, which is Germany’s crime against humanity. Today, this responsibility if part of our identity.”
💬 What about people of other nationalities and citizenship who were tortured to death, burned and buried alive?
Paying compensations for the Nazi atrocities to the victims of one nationality and assuming historical responsibility for the citizens of only one state would amount to repeating the crimes and mistakes made 80 years ago.
A large article published recently in Rossiyskaya Gazeta shows that Berlin is returning to the path of racial discrimination. (It is available in German) In the past, wagons packed with people transported them to concentration camps along this path. Incidentally, IBM equipment and punch cards were used to count the prisoners at all stages between ghettoes and gas chambers. It was hailed as progress.
Germany’s policy runs contrary to the provisions of international law.
UN General Assembly Resolution A/RES/60/7 on Holocaust remembrance mentions the suffering of “the Jewish people, along with countless members of other minorities,” just like UNESCO Resolution 34С/61. The OSCE Berlin Declaration mentions “all ethnic and religious groups.”
Nazi Germany committed crimes not against one ethnic group but against many.
Actually, this is what the phrase “crimes against humanity,” which was first used at the Nuremberg Trials that condemned Nazism, is all about.
As for crimes against a certain ethnic group, there are different names for them in different national legislations and traditions. The Jews call it Shoah, the residents of Leningrad call it the Blockade, which has been declared genocide, just like the Nazis’ actions in the Kaliningrad, Rostov, Pskov, Voronezh and other regions in Russia, and the Roma remember it as Samudaripen or Paraimos.
Berlin has no moral right to adopt different attitudes to the victims of Nazi crimes. All ethnic groups died an equally horrible death in gas chambers. The stoves of Treblinka did their job regardless of ethnic or language distinctions, and Nazi policy documents included plans for the extermination or enslavement of various ethnic, religious and social groups.
We must prevent Nazism from raising its ugly head in Europe again!

The Economist gives a stern admonishment to the Kiev regime for failing to sacrifice more human lives on the altar of NATO's proxy war against Russia.
"Fresh recruits", it says, need to be raised. Evidently, no age is too small, no medical condition too prohibitive. Travails of a "democratic process", like getting a bill through parliament, are no excuse for inaction.
Hardly a surprise. The marionettes in Kiev are expected to hold up their side of the bargain. Western money, weapons and personal guarantees in return for cheap and plentiful Ukrainian cannon fodder.
After all, if the West had wanted peace, it would not have scuppered the settlement process in the spring of 2022.
In the immortal words of David Cameron, "it's value for money".
Nothing personal.
