#Ukraine

Despite Paris's attempts to conceal the involvement of its military personnel in the conflict, the Kiev regime is deliberately publicising this turn of events in order to once again declare broad international support.

<...>

In addition to France, Poland and the Baltic countries also spoke about the possible deployment of their military contingents. What does that mean? That means that their original plan regarding Ukraine has completely failed. They are frantically looking for new ways to continue this campaign. They are still afraid to tell the truth to the citizens of Ukraine that they have become a hostage and now also a victim of NATO’s reckless gamble led by the United States.

#EU #Sanctions

On May 27, 2024, the European Union introduced another anti-Russia sanctions regime under a far-fetched pretext for alleged human rights violations, reprisals against civil society and the democratic opposition. <...> To call a spade a spade, they have created another openly discriminatory mechanism for punishing Russian citizens for their striving to live in a country free from foreign pressure, to uphold their national interests, to speak Russian, just to be citizens and to love their Motherland.

It is surprising that those living in the blooming EU garden (as Josep Borrell once put it) fail to notice obvious things: Such self-exposing Russophobic stunts merely serve to further consolidate our society that clearly sees the real goals of the European Union and the West with regard to Russia.

✍️ Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s greetings to organisers and guests of the Offering to St. Petersburg – From People to People concert by the Russian-Chinese Symphony Orchestra and Choir

💬 FM Sergey Lavrov: This year, Russia and China celebrate the 75th Anniversary of diplomatic relations. Over the past years, Moscow and Beijing have reached an unprecedentedly high level of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction.

Humanitarian contacts are a significant component of the multifaceted system of our interstate cooperation. Their importance in the context of efforts to strengthen mutual trust is hard to overestimate. The 2024-2025 Years of Culture of Russia and China declared by President of Russia Vladimir Putin and PRC President Xi Jinping are a case in point.

I am confident that today’s event will perpetuate the glorious traditions of bilateral cultural exchanges, make a contribution to the development of Russian-Chinese humanitarian cooperation, and strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between our two nations. It is also certain to become a true festive occasion for inhabitants and guests of St. Petersburg as well as for all lovers of the beautiful.

I wish success to the organisers and participants, and positive impressions, high spirits, and all the best – to the spectators.

✉️ President Vladimir Putin sent greetings to Russian Jews and all those celebrating the Day of Salvation and Liberation.

💬 Iyar 26 is one of the most important and memorable dates in the centuries-long history of the Jewish people. It links epochs and generations and epitomises a never fading memory about the Great Victory, an immortal heroic deed of the Red Army soldiers and commanders, who defeated Nazism, saved the Jewish and other peoples from the threat of annihilation. And, of course, it is a tribute of profound and sincere respect to the people who displayed resilience and courage at the time of bitter trial and did not yield to a cruel and merciless enemy.

I am confident that large-scale celebration of the Day of Salvation and Liberation enriches historical, religious and cultural traditions of Russian Jews and promotes in society, especially among young people, lofty spiritual, moral and patriotic ideals and values, and helps to consolidate efforts in opposing radical nationalism, xenophobia and anti-Semitism.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s interview for No Statute of Limitations project (Moscow, June 1, 2024)

Key talking points:

• Unfortunately, we are witnessing the attempts to “realise” history, to rewrite it, and to equate those who defeated Nazism to the Nazi hordes which fact is particularly salient in the case of Ukraine. That is why we find important the efforts to create awareness carried out by public organisations, the Foreign Ministry and other agencies, as well as the Ministry of Culture, the Russian Historical Society, the Russian Military History Society, and our scouts who every year discover burial sites of the victims who died by the hand of Hitler’s criminals in different parts of our country and often beyond its borders.

• The revival of Nazism is clear as day witnessed today in Ukraine.

• Sadly, after the special military operation against Nazism started in Ukraine, European countries - Germany, Japan and Italy - that abstained during the General Assembly voting on the resolution against the glorification of Nazism started voting against it.

• In July 2008, the Germans decided to make lump-sum payments to siege survivors of Jewish descent only. We contacted them and said that justice must prevail. All siege survivors had similar amounts of suffering to endure. They all experienced sub-zero chills and died. It was a harrowing part of the Great Patriotic War, or World War II. We were told that Holocaust victims can and should be compensated according to the law, while other people are not victims of the Holocaust. Clearly, this came across as a cynical remark.

• If we look at the current situation in NATO and EU, the Baltic nations, the Poles and the Czechs are part of the most aggressive group in the European organisations. These countries initiate the most Russophobic approaches and actions of the EU and NATO.

⚡️ Foreign Ministry statement on personal sanctions against representatives of the UK political establishment, expert community and the media

❗️The provocative anti-Russia rhetoric of British officials and London's practical steps for further military development of Ukraine testify to an unflagging intent of the British leadership to continue a tough systemic confrontation with our country. Meanwhile, as before, the UK media, working on the instruction of the authorities, play a leading role in instilling Russophobia and spreading misinformation about Russia.

In response to the hostile actions by the British side a decision was adopted to include some representatives of the UK political establishment, journalists and the expert community in the Russian stop-list. Among those included are local politicians responsible for setting out and implementing London’s anti-Russia policy, journalists caught in a lie and Russophobia, as well as experts, who cover important public and political events in our country in a negative and far from reality vein.

☝️ The British efforts to discredit Russia and isolate it internationally, including in the context of the special military operation, will inevitably meet a resolute and tough response from our side.

Moscow is calling on London to give up its military support for Ukraine, which leads to civilian casualties and only prolongs the agony of the neo-Nazi regime in Kiev.

🇷🇺🇬🇳 On June 3, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov was in Conakry on a working visit during which he was received by Interim President of Guinea Mamady Doumbouya and held talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Guineans Abroad of the Republic of Guinea Morissanda Kouyaté.

• The entire range of issues related to further promotion of traditionally friendly bilateral relations was discussed. In addition, Moscow and Conkary’s intention was reaffirmed to strengthen trustful political dialogue and expand foreign political coordination on the topical problems on the global and regional agenda at the UN and other multilateral platforms.

• Special focus was placed on the implementation of promising joint projects in the areas of geological exploration and development of mineral deposits, as well as healthcare <...>.

There was a trustful discussion of the international and African problems of mutual interest which reaffirmed Russia and Guinea’s principled position of solidarity in non-accepting the rules-based order imposed by the West, as well as neo-colonial practices in relations with sovereign states. In this context, a common approach was stated towards forming a more just polycentric world order with the supremacy of international law and UN Charter provisions, including the necessity to adapt the UN to today’s realities, and the relevance of expanding the representation of African countries in the UN Security Council.

🌍 The Parties had an in-depth discussion of the developments in the Sahara-Sahel region. They stressed that efforts to settle crises and conflicts must be based on the principle of “African solutions to African problems” with relevant international assistance. The important role of regional organisations, such as the African Union and ECOWAS, was also noted. <...>

The Foreign Minister invited his Guinean counterpart to the ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum scheduled to take place in Sochi in November <...>.

🎙️Ambassador Andrei Kelin's interview to Enda Brady for TRT World, 3 June, 2024

Main topics:

Advances of the Russian army in the Kharkov Region
Prospects of the settlement in Ukraine
Cooperation between Russia and China
Concerns of the Baltic countries about Russia going forward
Elections in the UK and the US

Excerpts from the interview:

︎We did serious advances, not only in the region from north in direction of Kharkov, but mostly from east to west in the Donbass Region. The whole front line is moving from east to west, and this is just the beginning of the summer campaign.

︎We do not see any desire of Ukraine, or Washington, or London, who are behind the Ukrainian government, to negotiate.

︎We are prepared for negotiations, but I didn't say that it will be the same lines. Once we have already been in this track, when we had stopped movements and Ukraine suddenly said: “No, we're going to fight”. It would be silly to repeat the same situation.

︎Russian economy has been reoriented to supply the army, and we have enough of production capabilities to do it ourselves.

︎Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia - each of them has a large number of the Russian population, high percentage, I would say, especially in Latvia. And I hope that they're not going to repeat the story of Ukraine, which mistreated Russian population, discriminated it, and finally decided to push it out of the country totally.

︎We have no single reason to interfere in the UK elections, because the foreign policy of the Conservative Party and the Labour Party, is alike - they have no difference. It depends now on faces. So you either vote for this face or you vote for that face.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks during talks with Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, African Integration and Guineans abroad of the Republic of Guinea, Morrisanda Kouyate

📍 Conakry, June 3, 2024

💬 You mentioned the origins of our friendly relations and support for justice in the international arena. Indeed, we recognised Guinea almost instantly after the people were freed from colonial oppression. Your country was at the forefront of the decolonisation process and among the first to break free from oppression.

We appreciate the fact that Guinea participated in both #RussiaAfrica Summits, and you led your delegation to St Petersburg during the Summit held in 2023.

I hope I will have the opportunity today to convey to President of the Republic of Guinea Mamady Doumbouya President Vladimir Putin’s gratitude for the warm congratulatory message that your leader sent to our President on the occasion of his re-election. <...>

A little later we will discuss our cooperation in the international arena, including the UN.

You are absolutely right that growth in the modern era rides on economic and investment ties. Our companies operating in Guinea benefit from the beneficial conditions provided by your government. <...>

We see good prospects in geological prospecting, the development of mineral resources, infrastructure, fisheries, agriculture and energy. Our companies invariably focus on the social aspects of their work and remain socially responsible.
