Self talk is an internal dialogue that you have from time to time. It’s influenced by your subconscious mind, and it reveals your thoughts, beliefs and basically is a reflection of your persona.
Your self talk is an indication of your self awareness (physical, mental and emotional).
Our capacity for self talk develops over the years and is highly influenced by our environment. This leads to the two polarities of self talk – positive and negative. Depending on the polarity of our environment, we practice an uplifting or belittling self talk.
The real challenge is to discern whether our internal dialogue is an honest conversation with our true self, or simply an echo of external voices of authoritive or influential figures, social media and other information outlets.
