The Sumerian texts show that in a very distant time, alien gods established their colony on Earth, which they called Kee. Fifty aliens were first sent to Earth. They were called the Anu-na-ki. They were led by Anu's eldest son, En-ki (lord of Earth). According to the King's List, Enki's reign in Eridu lasted 28,000 years. Subsequently, however, Anu's sterner younger son En-lil (lord of the air) was placed over him. Enlil increased the colony of aliens on Earth, and placed some in Earth orbit:

"Three hundred he placed in the heavenly watch...
And on earth he placed six hundred."
