Some Personal Ghost Stories (1 of 3)

Seeing as it's Halloween, I thought I'd tell you all a few of the personal experiences I've had during my time as a paranormal investigator and that has happened to me in a house we used to live in, involving my son too?
So sit back, relax with a cuppa, turn out the lights, because it's time to get your spook on:

This first story involves my son, Will and was something I wrote for a paranormal page, that I used to have, back in 2013:

A few months ago my 3 year old son, wills, was having problems sleeping. He just wouldn't sleep right through till the morning, always waking up around the same time, between 3 and 4 am, straight into a full blown tantrum, no matter what time we'd got him to sleep that night and he would always take a good 2-3 hours to 1st calm him down and then get him back off to sleep. Then waking up again around 8, or 9 and being unwilling to sleep again until very late. After about 2-3 weeks of this, with sleep deprivation taking its toll on us, myself, kat and wills were, understandably, starting to get a lil catty with each other (looking back on it now, it would've probably been hilarious to see 2 parents, arguing with their toddler? A toddler, i might add, who infuriatingly refuses to communicate with them normally, in any way shape or form. But rather he insists upon very cheekily repeating and verbatim, everything they're saying to him!

e.g:

Us: "Wills! Stop that!",

Wills: "Stop it!",

Us: "No Will! We're saying stop that to you! Meaning, you stop being naughty! So stop that right now!",
Wills runs off into the kitchen giggling, with us in hot pursuit shouting,

"Wills! Where do you think you're goin? Come back here Mr!",

Wills: "Where goin? Come ere! Come ere! Stoppy now!", followed by him being in absolute hysterics, as he hides under the kitchen table, shouting
"come ere and stoppy now" , between bouts of laughter!
Like i said, under the circumstances, at the time, not all that funny! But looking, back hilarious! Lmfao!

Anyway, you get the idea? That's just a small example of how each night transpired, as he got more and more enjoyment out of torturing us!

Needless to say, it was winding us up to no end, causing us to tell him off more and thus creating a vicious circle! Much to his great amusement, of course! Lol...)

But this one particular night, i dunno whether he was just exhausted, from weeks of this? (i know we were) or, it was the calm before the storm? (though strongly suspect both reasons could've been working in tandem!) But, this one particular night, without any playing up, or any fuss whatsoever, he easily drifted off to sleep! Foolishly, believing our luck to be in, kat and I prepared to settle down for a well deserved, decent nights sleep as I carefully carried wills up to his room. As usual, i tucked him in and then turned on his winnie the pooh night light/ lullaby player,
"Goodnight baby!",
it began, softly, in the voice from the disney cartoon, "I think i shall sing a sleepy song!", it continued before softly singing twinkle, twinkle, little star.

It didn't take too long after that for kat and i to pass out, mostly due to pure exhaustion, downstairs.

That short lived serenity, was violently shattered when, bang on cue, we were awoken by wills in full blown tantrum mode and was screaming the place down.

We'd truly had enough by this point. So, instead of us going up to get him, all he got from us were, ever angrier shouts from downstairs telling him to get to bed and just go to sleep, but it just fell on deaf ears, because with each time we shouted up at him, he just got louder. So when that didn't work, we turned to going up and just putting him in bed (the previous nights episode of Supernanny, was to thank for that!) a method we were sure would have the desired effect! Alas, that just made things worse (That'll teach us to believe the advice of a woman who's never had kids!)

By now wills had been having a tantrum for nearly 30 mins, with no sign of giving up. So, sucking up my temper and feeling mentally, as well as physically exhausted, i began to make my way upstairs. Still all the while telling him off as i did. I'd only made my way up 3 steps, angrily shouting how naughty he was being when, coming from our room directly across from his, I heard another childs voice say, "No! Widdlebeam stop it!"

That stopped me in my tracks.
I couldn't believe my ears.
Did I actually hear that right, or was the sleep deprivation getting to me?
It couldn't have been wills, the last time we'd called he Widdlebeam, he hadn't even learned to crawl, so he wasn't likely to remember that pet name for him and besides, he was in the opposite room. To my surprise though, this mystery voice had done the trick, because his tantrum suddenly stopped.

As i continued up the stairs to his room, i replayed what'd just happend in my mind and the more i did, the more i realised that i wasn't hallucinating, hadn't just been hearing things. That voice was totally different to wills'. It was still a childs voice, slightly older, but a little boys all the same.

As i was reaching the top of the stairs, i called out to wills to check he was alright, whilst looking in the opposite room, just in case we'd gained another child outta the blue. Just as I'd expected, there was no-one there, but i had to check.
"O.k then Mr.!", i said to wills, far calmer now, as I began to turn round,
"Lets take you dow......."
My words were cut short, when 3 loud bangs against the wall of the room next to wills' shocked me into silence. They were that powerful and heavy, that they shook the whole house. Wills was very clearly looking shaken by this and i thought that he'd probably prefer me to take him downstairs with us?
So I quickly, but very cautiously opened his baby gate and held out my arms. The poor little guy, ran straight at me, a look of relief and confusion in his eyes. Then breathed a sigh of relief, that whatever had just happened, seemed to be as quickly over, as it started and turned towards the door to leave his room.

The very second my foot stepped over the threshold to his room, his winnie the pooh suddenly and inexplicably, chirped out with, "Good night baby!", before falling silent. Since that night, Wills has mentioned someone called Bob-Bob on a number of occasions.
When we query him about who Bob-Bob is, all he says is

"Bob-Bob, Hes Man-man!", whilst pointing to his room!!!

Some Personal Ghost Stories (2 of 3)

OK this one is connected to a local legend surrounding the bandstand in the woods near me.

It has a long oral history of dark goings on, to do with the bandstand in particular and back then, I wasn't really that much of a believer in the stories i was told about it as a young kid, so walking through the woods at night wasn't much of a big deal. I'd seen all the graffiti on the walls before (all the satanic / pagan kind of arty stuff), but never really paid much attention to it. Thinking it more to do with kids just trying to be edgy?
Needless to say, that all changed because of this one night, that myself and 3 of my mates decided to investigate it, just on spec, on a midnight / early hours trek?
We were walking through the woods on a mission up towards the tower, to watch the sunrise from the top of the tower (a, kind of, rite of passage for most people in our area) it was about 3, maybe 4 in the morning, in mid november and absolutely freezing, when we'd decided to take a rest at the bandstand on the way and do an impromptu investigation, as a sort of halfway break and out of curiosity. The woods were pitch black, the moons light unable to break through the tree canopy, so myself and one of my other mates, were using torches we'd brought from home to light our way. We'd only been sat there a couple of minutes at least, when my torch suddenly went dead. It'd completely drained of battery power (even after, multiple, strikes an shakes) fortunately, my mate's (to preserve their anonymity, well call him 'tim') was still working, so we didn't think anything of it.
We all sat there chatting away, when one of my mates (we'll call her Rach) suddenly came out with,
"Which one of you is breathing in my ear? That's not funny"

We all denied it, which she didn't believe for a second, so my mate with the torch let her hold onto it, so she could catch them in the act.
Sure enough, a few moments later, she said it again, but this time she shined the torch round behind her. there was no-one there! In fact, not one of us was anywhere near her.

This made her quite nervous (as you can imagine) so she got up and stood next to me and my other friend, frantically panning the light all around the inside of the bandstand.

Cruelly, we all started taking the mick out of her, not really believing she'd heard anything and was probably just hearing things?
That was until, one of us (who was quite a big bloke, normally not phased by anything, who we'll call Tom) suddenly shouted,
"Stop the light right there!", with a very panicked tone, which was unusual for him, making Rach freeze.
We all questioned his reasons for his sudden outburst, to which he replied,
"Look at the back wall, how many shadows do you see?",

Each one of us counted 5, which was disconcerting to say the least.
1) because there was only 4 of us, so there was an extra shadow.
But more importantly,
2) We were all behind the light source and so, therefore, there shouldn't have been any shadows on the wall in the 1st place?

As soon as we saw one of the shadows moving slightly seconds later and towards us, we naturally made a very sharp exit!

Some Personal Ghost Stories (3 of 3)

OK this last one is about one of the times I went to a place, locally called Devils Quarry, but is also affectionately known as 2 Tits (if you'd ever seen it, you'd know why?)

The first time that I'd ever gone up there, I was about 14, or 15 and a group of us had gone up there, after finding out about it off some of our older mates. They'd told us all sorts of stories, about the weird stuff that'd happened to them up there, but we just thought they were trying to scare us?
As a result, none of us were really expecting much to happen, we'd just assumed it was a freaky place and they imagined most of what they saw / made it up for spookiness sake?
Anyway... Regardless, off to it we went.
As soon as you near the place, it looks imposing, especially at night. Theres no other light, other than the moonlight and on a clear night with a bright moon, the narrow pathway between the 2 mounds at its entrance make it seem, almost, like a fortress.

Like the bandstand in the local woods, the rock face and resulting alcoves, created by the quarrying of the sandstone, are adorned with satanic graffiti, such as inverted crosses, depictions of demons and strangely huge eyes.
So even before anything happens, it puts you on edge.

We were all laughing an joking and trying to frighten each other, when myself and my other friend, had the bright (and in hindsight, rather foolish) idea of sneakily, breaking off from the group, whilst no-one was looking split up and dive out from somewhere, on either side of them for the ultimate scare.
We decided to wait until the others were out of view, far enough not to see them, but close enough so we could still hear them and put our plan into action. I started creeping round one side, as quiet as i could, whilst my mate went off to catch them from the other side. I'd only been creeping for a couple of minutes, when just ahead of me, I saw the silhouette of my mate crouching down, as if watching the group further ahead of us waiting for the perfect time to pounce.
The thing was, he was on the same side as me and that wasn't the plan we'd made, so i was a little annoyed that he was risking alerting them, to what I considered to be anyway, a perfectly good plan.
So, as quietly as i could, but still loud enough for him to hear me and not alert our victims (lol), I began to call out to him, expressing my annoyance to him and in quite an animated fashion.

After what seemed like ages and after I'd closed my distance to him, so i was about 10 feet away, he suddenly stood up and i thought at least, looked right at me, before suddenly darting off into the shadows to the left of me.

I remember being rather impressed (and have to admit, more than a tad jealous too) at how silently he'd moved and at a fairly high speed, considering him to be quite the stealthy mo-fo for about 10 seconds until, that is, my mate walked up behind me asking,
"what the hell i was on about and why i was loudly whispering at a bush?", frightening the life out of me, because as far as i knew he was ahead of me?
When I asked my mate, how he'd got behind me so fast, if he'd been in front of me? (though I'll admit, by that point i was doubtful) he said,
"I've not been on your side!",
What he said next, gave me the chills! He said that,
He'd also seen the figure I'd seen and thought it was me?
But now, like i also was, he assumed, it was another one of our group, that'd had the same idea we had?
But he also had a very clear view of the others from his side he was on, which I didn't and when he thought about it, none of them were missing?
Not only that, but when we both thought about it, whatever it was moved extremely strangely and far, far too quietly too?
We both stood there in silence and dumbfounded by what we'd just seen?
It was only when the rest of our group realised we were missing and decided to turn back and look for us, that we decided to move from that spot.
To this day, it is still one of the clearest shadow entity sightings I've ever had?
