**APPLICATION INSTITUTING PROCEEDINGS**

To the registrar of the International Court of Justice, the undersigned, being duly authorised by the Government of the Republic of South Africa, state as follows:
One of the biggest lies in history is that Jews "invented monotheism."

Equally untrue is the claim that Christians and Muslims "copied" monotheism from its Jewish "inventors."

This is false for several reasons.

First, cross-cultural anthropological surveys indicate that humans have a biologically-rooted psychological tendency to embrace belief in a creator God (see e.g., Ethnographic Atlas, Standard Cross-Cultural Sample). Belief in some sort of Supreme Being recurs in unconnected societies across the world. As a result, perhaps 30-40% of historical human societies endorse a type of monotheism or quasi-monotheism, i.e., belief in one Supreme Creator God.

Second, existing historical evidence only allows us to trace back Jewish monotheism to some period between 1000 BCE and 500 BCE.

Meanwhile, in the Near East, there are records of other people embracing monotheism during this period, or earlier.

The earliest academic historical evidence of monotheism comes from Egypt in the 14th century BCE. Here the Pharaoh Akhenaten endorsed a type of monotheistic doctrine and began repressing belief in other gods.

A type of monotheism is found in Zoroastrianism, which emerged some time between 1500 and 1000 BCE.

Monotheistic currents also developed with ancient Babylonian and Greco-Roman religion. Such monotheistic currents are strongly represented in Greco-Roman philosophy after the 4th century BCE (e.g., in Platonism, Aristotelianism, Stoicism).

Third, it is incorrect to describe Judaism as monotheism. Rather, Judaism has a number of conflicting theological currents which have changed over time - making it much like Hinduism.

Prior to 500 BCE, there were polytheistic, henotheistic, and monotheistic currents within Judaism. After 500 BCE, Judaism features a strictly monotheistic current. There is also a bitheistic current which affirms belief in a supreme God, along with a lesser god referred to as Metatron/Enoch (i.e., two powers in heaven). It was only between 100 CE and 500 CE, that Judaism gradually gave up its belief in a second lesser god. This was done as a response to Christianity. Christians claimed that their religion (which treated Jesus as a type of lesser god) was a valid continuation of Judaism. Jews then repudiated bitheistic beliefs of this kind - in order to discredit Christianity.

That being said, between 100 BCE and 500 BCE the Jewish conception of God is still quite distant from Islamic monotheism. Not only do Jews depict God as highly anthropomorphic, but He is depicted as subject to rabbis. The rabbis dispute with him in a disrespectful fashion (i.e., "arguing with God"), and intellectually defeat him such that he follows their views (e.g., Oven of Akhnai).

Over time, under Islamic influence, Jews come to embrace a less anthropomorphic God, who is more absolute in power and knowledge, and who should not be treated with disrespect. This new conception of God is reflected in new theological works written between the 10th and 13th centuries by figures like Saadia Gaon and Maimonides.

This article evaluates modern children's entertainment, focusing on content from industry leaders like Disney and Marvel. It highlights emerging concerns such as sexual innuendos, LGBTQ+ representations, and potential erosion of traditional values.

Furthermore, the article also delves into broader societal implications, discussing how media may normalise specific behaviours and shape perceptions, including the context of the Palestinian-Israeli “conflict.”

Utilising Qur'ānic examples, the author offers guidance on safeguarding children from these vices and emphasises the importance of moral discernment.

The Fomorians: Ancient God giants of the Emerald Isle

These guys ruled over Ireland before the Celts got there. They were said, according to Celtic folklore, to be huge and the living embodiments of darkness and chaos, with their leader able to weild powerful lightning as a weapon...
Sounds awful familiar doesn't it?
