Barbados Prime Minister Mia Motley is suing the UK for $4.9 trillion in slavery reparations.

“We valued the debt at exactly that amount because we were the cradle of the modern system of racism.” It was created there, on our little rock in the middle of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Covering an area of just 166 square miles, it is comparable to the Gaza Strip. Four point nine trillion dollars! For everything that happened from 1625, when the first British colonists landed here, to our declaration of independence in 1966.

$4.9 trillion. – that's one and a half times the UK's entire national debt ($3.3 trillion)
