Did you know that, during the medieval warming period, during the late 13th, early 14th century the temperature of the Earth was 10° higher than it is today. As a result, the harvests for almost a century, were so excessive there was enough in each town to feed the entirety of a population of 1000 people, for around 300 years. As a result, due to this overabundance of food and more importantly, ale, master artisans, master stonemasons and master stainglass makers, travelled across Europe and worked for free. All they asked for, was food, lodging and enough beer to drown a cat and they would help the town they were in, with their building projects, mostly churches and cathedrals. Within a few years, all these maters realised that they could share techniques and vastly improve their own and what began as a simple building project, soon became an opportunity for these masters to hone their skills to godlike proportions and as they travelled Europe wide, these projects became a means to show off their new found techniques.
The reason why all of those buildings, built during that time are so dramatically impressive, in both skill and design, is a direct result of this period of history.
Sadly, this wasn't to last as, when that warming period ended we entered the little ice age and famine followed, rapidly joined by the first wave of the Black death and the majority of these travelling masters perished whilst helping to spread the plague.
That's why almost all of these techniques that they put on full display, in those buildings, are lost forever. Because the people that could pass them on, in most part died before they could.
Which brings me to the idea that it was some fictional civilisation, who were solely capable of constructing those buildings, as claiming as such is a massive insult to the memory of these long perished masters.
Sorry.
I'm not aiming this at you Nick...
But the Tartaria narrative and it's proponents lately, have been really pissing me off with their utterly wrong and easily explainable, supposedly irrefutable proof of their ideas, coupled with complete ignorance of late 19th century culture, photographic technology limitations and the periods of history magnificent buildings like those pictured were built.
Anyway... I think I need to go and calm down?
