Herodotus - histories and other works
Widely regarded as the father of history (or rather, recording history with any degree of accuracy) the works of Herodotus, give us a fantastic insight into the pre-Christian world and also that of ancient Greece.
His works can be the perfect foundation, from which to build on, when researching ancient history. His own accounts and those of others that he documented, can lead you down pathways and towards concepts, you might not have considered otherwise?
