Antarctica's only active volcano shows how CO2 allows volcanoes to form persistent lava lakes at the surface

At the last count I saw, across the entire continent of Antarctica, there's at least 98 volcanoes beneath the ice. With the highest, land based, volcano also being on that continent too and at any one time, there's at least 5 going off at once. (the highest overall volcano, is poking out of the Pacific and makes up one of the Hawaiian islands, i think?)
So what happened to the other 4? They misplace them?
