NOTES FROM PEOPLE'S ASSEMBLY 6/27/20:
Began about 5:30 in the center of the park. The group voted to stay in a large group format (as opposed to breaking into smaller groups as in previous days).
Sarah Tornai debriefed the group on the basics of the exchange between the Mayor’s aide (Stephanie?) and organizers/protesters just prior to the People’s Assembly.
- according to Durkan, the barricades MUST go and this is non-negotiable.
- no sweeps planned yet (we take this promise with a grain of salt)
An idea to rent a Uhaul and fill with mattresses purchased from Craig’s List to pile in front of the precinct was brought up.
The group agreed that if we were going to make the discussion about the tent encampment site, we should be including more tent encampment residents in the discussion. The decision was made to move the People’s Assembly from the field to the Tent Encampment/garden area in order to be more inclusive of the residents in a conversion about their dwellings.
The conversation shifted from protecting the precinct to preserving the tent encampment, at which time, the facilitator decided to pause the “general topic” list and hear from residents of the tent encampment about their issues.
Suggestion to have Social Services set up an information booth near the tent encampment (instead of outside of chop)
A helpful person says he needs some help with garbage- specifically keeping the areas around the dumpsters clear so that the city will continue to take trash for chop. He said he would be wearing a construction style vest, so if you can help with garbage issues, please find him.
Someone came from the Wendy’s in Atlanta that is being occupied by protesters to the Rayshard Brooks murder. Wants to remind everyone that CHOP has support all over and people are watching us to learn how to get demands met with an occupied protest.
Reminder that the Riot Kitchen is open 24/7 with hot meals served daily (check with kitchen staff about hot meal times)
food available 24 hours (may not always be a hot meal, but

#message update: there is not an urgent situation currently occurring, security is just very understaffed and could use assistance

#scanner "Hey sarge I got a question for you, this could potentially be a bias incident. A lady that I'm with, she had demonstrators cause damage to her vehicle while driving down Sandpoint Way, and while she was trying to sneak through they were yelling at her to stay away from black people. I'm just checking to see if you consider this a bias incident and something you want to come down here and screen" 8:57PM
#scanner Sandpoint and 74th there was a disturbance on a metro coach. SPD is staying clear. "Advise metro that the demonstration is breaking up in the Sandpoint/Magnuson Park area."
#ground call for bodies at CHOP. Several ground reports of tiny toese and several proud boys. Quote from ground:
We're literally being circled by proud boys and Tiny. I can't even get home right now.

#ground They're circling the perimeter of the chop , mostly on the northern and Eastern sides. Seen from 12/olive.
“There's a literally an entire car full of them right in front of me right now”

#ground the only thing we can confirm that seems related to the piss boys was one person, unknown affiliation, with a shotgun. That situation has been resolved.
#scanner west precinct has left lockdown, units on west taskforce are to remain in the precinct for a while. west infrastructure is released back to duty.
#ground FYI Y'ALL the cop looking SUVs with the big globe on the side are private security hired by CHOP area residents and/or businesses. They're not there against us. Here's a photo - https://www.facebook.com/iconic.global.usa/photos/a.730395607357593/1038718943191923/?type=3&theater
