Women attending a vigil for Sarah Everard whose body the other day gather around the bandstand in Clapham Common. They talk of the police, that the suspected murderer is a cop , and the failings of this system which is rife with patriarchy and violence.

As the sun goes down, the police force their way through the crowd and begin snatching the speakers and the women who refuse to move from the band stand.

There is absolutely no reason for the police to take the bandstand other than to illustrate their force and power.

The women gathered refuse to be dispersed.

It's about women not doing what they are told.

It's about a display of force from an organisation which has hundreds of domestic violence incidents within it each year.

It's about Sarah Everard and #SheWasJustWalkingHome

After police assaulted the crowd outside their Bridewell Police Station (who had gathered after a march to protest The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill) the streets quickly got swept up in a night of sirens and fire.

The bill, which aims to make protesting punishable by up to ten years amongst other draconian legislative changes is a vile assault on free expression and illustrative of wider changes at the hands of the Conservative party.
