I don't mean to pull a "you're the real racist" bit but I think personally that it's a lot more racist to adopt some black kid transparently to show how good of a person you are ("look at me and this savage that I graciously lifted out of poverty and squalor") than to just point and go "that's odd and I don't want that guy around my daughters when attending church". Heck, it's less racist to just say that you hate blacks and don't want them around you because you think they stink or whatever. Its better and more honest to just outright hate someone than it is to channel that disgust into pity.
