You just bought the latest marvel of technology, an anthropomorphic robot. It looks silly, it does silly things. You enjoy it and the idea of robots replacing human labor does not seem so distant anymore.
Electricity powers the circuits of two little eyes. Photons radiate from your body only to get trapped inside tiny electromagnetic sensors, creating a still image of you thousands of times per second. These images are saved on a NAND chip, then read by an insanely efficient ARM processor that delegates bits into queues for the wireless microcontroller. Digital bits become radio waves, accepted by the router, converted back and sent over the CGNAT to the outer shell of the Internet. In under 100 miliseconds the signal passes around the globe.
A sequence of images flash on a display, creating a video stream that enters the mind of a 29 years old Madar Chodsingh. Physically, he is located in the slums of Uttar Pradesh. Mentally, he's in your room. He gazes at you. He judges you.
A sequence of commands appear on his screen. "Walk" - Madar presses the "walk" button. "Stop" - Madar pushes the stop button. Right now he's living his best life, feeling like he's a part of an alien society. He has never seen a house so rich, a street so clean.
You go to sleep. You have no idea that Madar silently observes your helpless body. You wake up in a cold sweat, certain somebody else is in your room, but no one is there. It's just you. Madar presses "cheer up" button. A second later your cute robot greets you. You breathe a sigh of relief. "That AI got so smart nowadays", you think to yourself before returning to bed. Madar's shift is over. $2.67 have been deposited to his bank account.
