David reimer was a Canadian man who was raised as a girl after a botched circumcision led to a sex-reassignment surgery before he was two. After realizing he was not a girl, Reimer started living as a male at age 15. However, after suffering years of years of severe depression, financial instability and a troubled marriage, he committed suicide at age 38.
