A Utah mom discovered she had accidentally married her cousin while pregnant with his baby.

Through an online baby name search the couple realized they had the same great-grandparents, making them 3rd cousins.

Scared for her baby the woman immediately researched the harm of having a child with your 3rd cousin, but was relieved to find that for relationships that far removed the baby should be unaffected. The couple had chosen to stay together despite this new knowledge and now will celebrate their 13th anniversary and family of 4 children.

For 20 years, a cat served as mayor of an Alaskan town.

In 1997, an orange cat names Stubbs became honorary mayor of the Alaskan town of Talkeetna. With a population of 772 in 2000, it would not have taken too many votes to earn the position (and the small town did not actually have a real, human mayor. anyway), but Stubbs proved adept at the role, gaining fans from around the world and "serving" in the position for years, greeting tourists and becoming a beloved symbol of the town until his death in 2017.

Riding a roller coaster could help you pass a kidney stone.

After multiple people reported they had passed a kidney stone while riding Walt Disney World's Big Thunder Mountain Railroad ride, a research team from Michigan State University decided to investigate the phenomena in 2016. They conducted tests with a model kidney and found that there was a 64 percent kidney stone pass rate for those seated in the rear of the Thunder Mountain ride. That number was just 16 percent for those seated in the front.
