Now they're getting rid of it entirely, which Canada did back in 2012.

Copper is necessary as money alongside Silver and gold in a healthy functioning monetary system, to be used as small change.
With the US penny going away, copper remains, and will continue to remain long after these clownish central banking fiat currencies collapse in upon themselves.
It is a shameful ordeal that a historical unit of coinage is being sacrificed on the altar of inflationary fiat joo currency.
