A new, faster mutating Covid variant discovered in Africa has ravaged prospects in travel and oil stocks, as the South African rand also dropped to its lowest value against the dollar in a year.

Front-month oil futures dropped 3.4% to $75.75, while shares in Japan Air, ANA and Qantas all fell between 4.5 and 6.5% as fears grow of potential renewed travel restrictions. Markets in Asia have declined too as they watch Europe's coronavirus cases spiral into new lockdowns.

Utter garbage. “Increased risk of reinfection”? Not a chance. This variant, like all the others, is almost identical to the original version. Even 35 mutations is 1% to 3% different (at this stage, I don’t know if they mean changes at the protein level or just the genetic level).
That much change is WAY too little to permit infection after having repelled any variants already.

Note, the “vaccines” are so close to ineffective except to injure, so telling us you might get infected despite vaccination, I mean, tell us something new.

Dow sees WORST DAY OF YEAR amid fears of new Covid variant

The Dow Jones tumbled 900 points, or 2.53% Friday marking the Industrial Average’s worst day of 2021 — S&P 500 dropped a whopping 2.27%. (NBC)

The downward slide comes as the World Health Organization warned of a new Covid-19 variant that’s been detected in South Africa.

Asian markets were also slammed hard on the news with Japan’s Nikkei 225 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index both falling more than 2%.
