🇺🇸 If the FDA had allowed more labs to test for the coronavirus, researchers could have discovered that the virus was circulating in Seattle *at least a week earlier* than they actually did.
By Feb. 25, Dr. Chu and her colleagues could not bear to wait any longer. They began performing coronavirus tests, without government approval.
What came back confirmed their worst fear. They quickly had a positive test from a local teenager with no recent travel history. The coronavirus had already established itself on American soil without anybody realizing it.

I've fantasized about this - Amazon is a modern wonder. To collectivize it I'd hope to set it get more efficient, rhizomatic, human oriented. I'd happily do a tour of duty there - start out picking at the local warehouse while taking classes, then work the robot repair facilities. Get rewarded with lifetime prime, my own little plot of consignment space so I can make sure my region has access to the fruit of my production. I'd consider a second tour working on international shipping zeppelins and aerostat data drones to further drive the point home to the world that communism can provide for them if they can provide for communism.
An agile, easy to use system that will get me a widget I need, individually packed meds, and grocery delivery in an emergency is the sort of thing id expect of a utopian scifi state apparatus. I'd prop that up.. just don't let them have an actual military.
