So, a couple weekends back a mass shooter in Canada went on a twelve hour spree killing at least nineteen people and starting fires. The Prime minister, to the chagrin of all congressional parties used the Canadian version of an executive order to immediately stop all sales and transport of most guns, with the exemption of guns to be surrendered for destruction. Provisions such as grandfathering or the exact details of a buyback are absent, TBD, being that most guns outlawed by the bill are unregistered anyways.

Some kickers here: The prime minister is using the usual lines that these 'military style firearms' are killing machines, and people should rely on the police for protection. This rings pretty hollow when one factors in that the mass shooter was using illegally obtained firearms, but he was able to burn and kill with impunity because he wore a police uniform and drove a patrol car.
