Biodiversity crush of the day: the leaf sheep slug!

The "Costasiella kuroshimae" is a tiny shell-less mollusk that lives in the waters near Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines. They're not just impossibly cute but also have the superpower of integrating the chloroplasts from the algae they eat and indirecly perform photosynthesis. How cool is that?

Since Musk announced his interest in buying up Twitter, there has been a small Exodus. We can recommend Mastodon, or ever broader, the fediverse, as an alternative for Twitter or other social media. Its Open Source, decentralized (at least in theory) and not driven by optimization algorithms aimed at keeping you engaged or mining your for data. If you are interested in joining Mastodon, click here: https://joinmastodon.org/

The fediverse isn't just Mastodon though. It's a network of instances running open source social media software, some of those are short massenger services, others are for video hosting or blogging. But you only need one account on one instance running one of those projects to interact with the whole fediverse. If you want to learn more about the fediverse, click here https://joinfediverse.wiki/What_is_the_Fediverse%3F

Or better yet, use the add-on "privacy redirect" 🙄

A web extension that redirects Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Google Maps, Reddit, Google Search, & Google Translate requests to privacy friendly alternative frontends for those sites - Nitter, Invidious, FreeTube, Bibliogram, OpenStreetMap, SimplyTranslate & Private Search Engines like DuckDuckGo and searx.

It's possible to toggle all redirects on and off. The extension will default to using random instances if none are selected. You can even set a custom instance.
