A farmer in Samara, one of Russia’s top aerospace hubs as well one of its oldest cities, has stumbled upon ancient bones of an ichthyosaur while roaming an open field.
The local paleontological society sent out a crew, which confirmed that the remains were indeed fossils of the extinct marine reptile, whose species died out around 90 million years ago. Experts have called the discovery completely unique and historic in itself.
