On Saturday, January 20, 2024, a new era begins. Pluto will be entering Aquarius and ushering in major shifts - affecting your personal potential and the way the world operates.
Now is the time to get on board with this energy - to co-create with it and start building a whole new life for yourself. This is an opportunity to leap forward - to fully accept and embrace who you are, to raise your consciousness and connect with others, and to let go of the mindsets and paradigms that have been holding you back.

Pluto represents transformation by way of death and rebirth, and it reveals the shadow side of whatever it touches. Since 2008, Pluto has been in Capricorn, where it exposed the shadow side of our systems, financial and otherwise, starting with the 2008 financial collapse.
Now Pluto will change signs and move into Aquarius, which is a rare event. Aquarius is about consciousness, revolutionary energy, and innovative ideas. The last time Pluto was in Aquarius, the French and American Revolutions were taking place.
Pluto has an irregular orbit. In March 2023, it spent three months in Aquarius before reentering Capricorn. In 2024 it will continue to go back and forth between the two signs. Aquarius is the opposite of Capricorn - it’s about the future, while Capricorn is about the past. So this year, we are in the crosshairs, the juxtaposition of letting go of the old and embracing the new.
At the Pattern, we don't believe in predictive astrology, but there's likely no coincidence that Pluto will retrograde back into Capricorn from September 1 - November 19, 2024, which happens to coincide with the United States presidential election. And then Pluto will fully reside in Aquarius for the next 19 years, and we will have entered the new paradigm.

This is the first steam engine ever devised, the Aeolipile... is a radial steam jet and reaction turbine, an invention attributed to Hero of Alexandria between 10 and 70 AD.
The water inside the spherical container is heated to produce steam that comes out through nozzles directed at right angles to the radial direction, and by Newton's third law, the steam expelled from these jets produces a torque around the axis of rotation.
There are no historical records that this engine was put into practice in ancient times, except perhaps as the world's first physical toy!
