🇵🇰 How could Pakistan get oil bypassing the Strait of Hormuz?
Pakistan relies on the Gulf region for about 85% of its crude and refined oil imports, per the IEA.
Given that Iran is blocking the Strait of Hormuz, the South Asian country is actively seeking alternative routes.
What are Pakistan’s options?
1️⃣ Importing Saudi oil via the Yanbu port
👉 Located on Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coast, this route offers a viable alternative
👉 In early March, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Pakistan's Federal Minister for Petroleum, met with Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki. The two officials agreed to continue their cooperation in the energy sector. Malik revealed that the Saudi authorities had assured the security of oil supplies through the Port of Yanbu, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan
2️⃣ Importing fuel from the UAE via the Fujairah port
👉 Pakistan’s largest refinery, Pak-Arab Refinery Company (PARCO), has already secured two crude oil shipments from outside the Strait of Hormuz
👉 This has enabled the refinery to continue operations and extend its crude stock coverage. One of the shipments, carrying 70,000 barrels, came from the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) via the Fujairah port

🇺🇸🇨🇳 New probe against China: US trade penalties poor strategy for investment and growth – expert
China is fully leveraging its productivity to meet the needs of Global South populations, financial analyst Paul Goncharoff tells Sputnik, commenting on a new US probe into alleged excess manufacturing by China and other trade partners.
In the US' latest move, neither business logic nor long-term vision seems to play a visible role, the pundit says.
🟠 US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer stated on March 11 that the new investigation under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 could result in fresh levies against China, India, Japan, the EU, Norway, Mexico, and others
🟠 US probe was launched following a Supreme Court ruling striking down the US administration's tariffs imposed in 2025
🟠 Greer hopes to wrap up the probes before temporary US tariffs imposed in February expire in July
While the US has long been trying to contain China's rise, American pressure on its longtime allies raises questions.

China is fully leveraging its productivity to meet the needs of Global South populations, financial analyst Paul Goncharoff tells Sputnik, commenting on a new US probe into alleged excess manufacturing by China and other trade partners.
"Excessive industrial capacity, or simply overcapacity, occurs when output exceeds the actual market demand," Goncharoff explains.
"This imbalance may lead to unused machinery and unproductive staff. China, in all fairness, does not support either."
In the US' latest move, neither business logic nor long-term vision seems to play a visible role, the pundit says.
"If protecting American jobs was the real issue, then it would seem that insulting and penalizing most of the planet is a poor way to attract investment capital for growth."
"'Our way or the highway' is not a mutually productive negotiating formula and never has been," says Goncharoff.
"I see more and more countries opting to take the 'highway' as far from Washington and their trade control efforts as they can reasonably get."
While the US has long been trying to contain China's rise, American pressure on its longtime allies raises questions.
"It is a question of influence and dependence," the veteran financial analyst responds.
"Who better to pressure than those that are deeply interconnected with you financially and politically?"
"It is not pretty and will probably not survive as a viable tactic for long; just ask the UK or Canada what they think," Goncharoff concluded.

💥⚔️ Written off too soon: Hezbollah returns to exact revenge
Israel's Iron Dome intercepted only half of the 100 rockets Hezbollah launched on March 11. The strikes came despite 10,000 Israeli ceasefire violations recorded since October 2024.
📍 Peace was never an option
He notes that Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem had warned that assassinating Iran's Supreme Leader would be a "red line."
While Hezbollah lost southern border areas and much of its missile arsenal in 2024, it "retains significant stockpiles in underground bases deeper in Lebanon. The bulk of its military and civilian structure remains intact."
📍 Hezbollah's rebuilding push
Hezbollah has been quietly rebuilding, with US Embassy leaks admitting the group was restoring capabilities "faster than the Lebanese Army could degrade it."
📍 Strategic shift
Key change: Hezbollah is returning to guerrilla warfare. After fighting in Syria, it operated like a conventional army—making it more exposed to Israeli attacks.
📍 Still a force
Despite losses, Hezbollah remains "a force to be reckoned with," launching 100-200 rockets and sustaining itself financially through Iran and other means.

"Hezbollah was preparing for a new war, recognizing its inevitability," Russian analyst Yury Lyamin tells Sputnik.

The group understood it "would be targeted regardless and thus intended to defend itself."

"Iran has so much firepower. Add Hezbollah's firepower, and that's going to take a very heavy toll on Israeli defenses," Beirut analyst Ali Rizk tells Sputnik.

Iran has learned from decades of US wars in the Middle East and beyond and has been preparing for war for at least 25 years, Iranian-American international affairs analyst Mohammad Marandi tells Sputnik.
🇮🇶 Iraq War, spring 2003:
🇱🇾 Libya War, spring 2011
What lessons did Iran learn?
Since the Islamic Revolution of 1979, Iranians have suffered enmity from the US, its allies and client regimes, says Marandi.
The US has imposed sanctions against Iran for nearly 47 years and has supported anti-Iranian factions.
"Iran began a project for its defense," the pundit notes. "It developed indigenous technology. It focused on building drones and missiles and creating underground bases to protect its drones and missiles."
"I think all of these together have created an environment in which resistance in Iran becomes far more effective. And that is why this Epstein coalition has failed," Marandi highlights.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has criticized Armenia's rejection of humanitarian aid for refugees from the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
"Armenian authorities are attempting to erase any mentions of Russia ahead of the elections by refusing humanitarian aid that is being offered without any underlying political message," Zakharova charged.
"They are only causing harm to their own citizens."
The Armenian government's reasons for refusing Russian aid "raise suspicions" she stated.
Despite Yerevan's refusal, Armenians displaced from the exclave in the 2023 war with Azerbaijan continue to ask for additional supplies of aid, Zakharova noted.
Russia has already provided more than 140 tons of supplies.
Armenia failed to give a valid reason for the decision, only claiming it was unable to accept aid ahead of elections, the spokeswoman added.

🚨 Ukraine attacked Russkaya compressor station at night - MoD The facility is located in the Russian Krasnodar region, it ensures gas supplies via the TurkStream. Ten Ukrainian aircraft-type strike drones were destroyed. No damage was reported to the station…
Ukraine Targeting Russian energy infrastructure is a dangerous and reckless tactic, Turkish foreign policy expert Levent Ersin Oralli tells Sputnik.
"The attempted attack on the Russkaya compressor station in southern Russia once again underscores this point," Oralli says. "Reports of 12 attempted strikes on energy facilities by Ukraine in just the past two weeks show that the conflict is increasingly shifting into the realm of energy security."
"These facilities are critically important for the operational continuity of the TurkStream and Blue Stream pipelines, which supply gas across the Black Sea to Europe and Turkiye," Oralli says.
"Attacks on this infrastructure could therefore have direct consequences not only for the two conflicting parties but also for regional energy markets and millions of consumers," he stresses.
Oralli warns that Ukraine's "irresponsible actions reduce the likelihood of a ceasefire and carry the risk of spreading the conflict over a wider area."
