🏢 From ‘Illegal’ Hotel to Housing for the Homeless on Upper West Side. The Manhattan building used to attract tourists, but New York City officials hope its transformation is a road map for the city’s future.

A building that the city said illegally operated as a hotel was bought by a nonprofit and will provide low-cost housing, mainly for the formerly incarcerated, said Victor J from the New York Times.

The building, according to the Fortune Society, will provide on-site support services such as case managers to help people with nutrition, employment, and substance abuse.

New York City Mayor Mr. Adams said the conversion was the kind of innovative strategy his administration would pursue to tackle the need for housing.

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., and Rep. Scott Fitzgerald, R-Wis., introduced the Pretrial Release Reporting Act on Monday, leading the charge for congressional oversight of law enforcement releases involving people charged with violent crimes.

The bill would require the DOJ to report to Congress information on suspects of violent felonies released pre-trial on bail by state courts and how the courts themselves weigh release conditions for people charged with the crimes.

🎮This week, the video game industry convened for the Game Developers Conference (GDC), an annual gathering of video game creators from across the world that in most ways resembled a return to the good old pre-covid days — save for the masks on everybody’s faces.

Hundreds of video game developers mill about a cavernous expo hall. Booths for everything from established industry giants like Amazon and Unity to cash-flush Web3 start-ups gleam, glitter and flash, all vying for attention.

“It’s really exciting to see some of these people I haven’t seen in years. It’s really exciting to be back to something that feels like it used to,” said Ryan Wyatt, former head of YouTube Gaming and current CEO of Polygon Studios, who has Crohn’s disease and is, as a result, immunocompromised.

The CDC also lowered Chad, Guinea, and Namibia to "Level 1." The State Department on Monday lowered its travel advisory for India to "Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution," reflecting the lower Covid-19 risk, but also cited the risk of "crime and terrorism."

🏑🏆 Trump confirmed reports he scored a hole-in-one at Trump International Golf Club on Saturday

“Many people are asking, so I’ll give it to you now, it is 100% true,“ Trump wrote.

“I hit a 5-iron, which sailed magnificently into a rather strong wind, with approximately 5 feet of cut, whereupon it bounced twice and and then went clank, into the hole.”

“I won’t tell you who won because I am a very modest individual, and you will then say I was bragging—and I don’t like people who brag!
Trump said.

Unfortunately, the video circulating online doesn't get a look at the shot itself, so we have to take Trump at his word

🗯 Fox News host Tucker Carlson has called on US lawmakers to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove Joe Biden from power

"The joke's over. Too much is at stake. If there ever was a time, if there was in U.S. history ever a time to invoke the 25th Amendment, it is now. As Joe Biden himself put it, "For God's sakes, this man cannot remain in power" -- for all of our sakes."
