The Russian Defence Ministry's latest statements:

▪Russian air defence systems near the settlement of Novomikhailovka have shot down a Ukrainian Su-27;

▪A large warehouse of rocket and artillery weapons near the settlement of Nimirovskoye in Odessa region has been destroyed by high-precision missiles;

‼️Three teens were shot, one fatally, near the South Bronx high school campus. A teenage girl was fatally shot and two other teens were wounded as they walked home from school in a shooting near a South Bronx high school Friday, sources said.

The shooting erupted near University Heights High School’s South Bronx Campus on E. 156 St. near St. Ann’s Ave. about 1:40 p.m., police sources said. The gunman pulled out a gun and fired off six shots, striking two 16-year-old girls and a 17-year-old boy walking home from school, police, and sources said.

One of the girls was shot in the chest. She was rushed to Lincoln Hospital but could not be saved. The other 16-year-old girl was shot in the shin and the 17-year-old boy was shot in the buttocks. They were taken to the same hospital in stable condition.

None were the intended targets, a police source said. Police were scouring surveillance footage to identify the shooter Friday afternoon, police said. There were no immediate arrests.

🦠😷While much of the United States has reported a plateau in coronavirus cases in recent weeks, New York City and Washington, D.C., have been battling a swift rise in cases in the last two weeks as the virus has again upended Broadway and the halls of the federal government.

Cases have doubled in Washington and have risen about 60 percent in New York City since the last week of March, according to New York Times databases. Although caseloads have been relatively low in the weeks since the Omicron surge receded, the highly contagious BA.2 subvariant is contributing to a new wave in some places, especially in the Northeast.

Across the United States, caseloads have stopped falling, and have started to rise in states including Alaska, Vermont, Colorado, Rhode Island, and New York. Experts have been warning that another surge was coming since the recent surge in Europe, where past virus waves have been a harbinger of what was to come in the United States.

The Alabama medication bill is one of the most far-reaching: It would put doctors in prison for up to 10 years for prescribing puberty blockers or hormonal treatment to kids under 19.

“We regulate all kinds of things that are harmful to minors — alcohol, cigarette smoke, vaping, tattoos — because their minds aren’t ready to make those decisions about things that can affect their long term,” said Rep. Wes Allen, the sponsor of the House version of the Alabama legislature. Allen cited public hearing testimony from a woman who said she regretted taking hormone therapy to try to transition to being male.

The crisis in child care has become a rare source of bipartisan agreement. Democrats are trying to revive their plan to subsidize child care for most families, and now Senate Republicans have introduced their own bill on the issue.

Perhaps the most surprising thing about the two proposals is the amount of overlap — a joint recognition that child care needs to be more accessible and affordable and that its quality, along with workers’ pay, needs to increase.

The Republican plan, according to a bill submitted by Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina and Senator Richard Burr of North Carolina, would use an existing program — the Child Care and Development Block Grant, known as CCDBG — to increase the money sent to states to help low-income families pay for child care.

The Portuguese man o’ war, related to a jellyfish, fires barbs loaded with toxin when something brushes against their tentacles. The cells still fire even if the animal is dead and washed up onshore.

“These animals are some of the most toxic animals in the world,” said Tony McEwan, Curator and Marine Biologist at the University of Hawaii’s Waikiki Aquarium. “They’re not very maneuverable animals, so their prey has to be immobilized very quickly.”

🤯💔An OnlyFans model fatally stabbed her estranged boyfriend during a domestic incident in Miami Beach Sunday, and a video taken after the incident appears to show her dazed and drenched in blood while sitting on the floor in her bra.

Influencer Courtney Clenney, 25, called 911 Sunday evening after plunging a blade into Christian Obumseli, 27, her lawyer, Frank Prieto, told The Post.

He died after being transported to a local hospital.

The video, obtained by TMZ, was apparently taken moments after the incident and shows Clenney handcuffed in a black bra and white pants sitting on the floor and being interviewed by police as two dogs mill around the chaotic scene.

Prieto said Friday that Clenney stabbed Obumseli in self-defense after he attacked her and grabbed her by the throat. She has not been named or charged in the incident as officials investigate if the stabbing was justified.

The decision by AT&T, WarnerMedia’s parent company, to spin off its entertainment division and merge it with Discovery — in a deal announced in May — will be felt throughout the media world in the months to come.
