🚨Police in Phoenix were frantically searching Friday for a suspect accused of shooting a police officer at a gas station.

Nicholas Cody Cowan, 35, remained on the run early Friday after shooting a female officer Thursday who needed surgery to remove the bullet, department officials said. “Let’s find this guy,” Police Chief Jeri Williams tweeted while citing a $10,000 reward for info leading to Cowan’s arrest.

The unnamed veteran officer, who was in stable condition Thursday, is “doing well in the hospital,” Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Andy Williams told The Post Friday. Cowan, who is heavily tattooed, should be considered “armed and dangerous” and was last seen wearing a black hat, black T-shirt, and black shorts. Anyone who spots him should not approach and instead call 911 immediately, police said.

📁🤰Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a 15-week abortion ban into law on Thursday, joining several other Republican-led states that have imposed similar restrictions on the procedure.

The new law which will go into effect July 1 would prohibit abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, a dramatic cut from the current limit of 24 weeks.

It does not allow for exemptions for pregnancies caused by rape, incest, or human trafficking. However, it does permit the procedure when an abortion is deemed necessary to save the mother’s life, prevent serious injury or if the fetus has a fatal abnormality.

Florida’s Republican-led Senate passed the bill early last month 23-15. “This will represent the most significant protections for life that have been enacted in this state in a generation,” DeSantis said Thursday when signing the bill.

🔶The Biden administration announced on Friday that it would offer temporary protected status to nationals of Cameroon, shielding them from deportation and enabling them to obtain work permits, amid an escalating armed conflict that has spawned a humanitarian crisis in the African country.

Some 40,000 nationals of Cameroon, many of whom sought safe haven in the United States in recent years, are expected to be eligible. The largest communities of people from Cameroon are in Washington, D.C., the metropolitan area, and California.

Immigrant advocates and Democratic lawmakers had been ratcheting up pressure on the Biden administration in recent months to extend the humanitarian protection to Cameroon, especially after the administration moved swiftly when war erupted in Ukraine to offer temporary protected status last month to people from that country who were already in the United States.

📲Elon Musk is speaking to investors who could partner with him on a bid for Twitter, sources close to the matter told The Post. A new plan that includes partners could be announced within days, those sources said.

One possibility, the sources said: teaming with private-equity firm Silver Lake Partners, which was planning to co-invest with him in 2018 when he was considering taking Tesla private.

Silver Lake’s Co-CEO Egon Durban is a Twitter board member and led Musk’s deal team during the 2018 failed effort to take Tesla private, sources said. Silver Lake didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

Whether Musk would present Twitter with an entirely new offer perhaps raising his current bid or whether new partners would simply go in on a purchase with him isn’t clear. A Musk spokesperson couldn’t be reached for comment.

📋💰President Biden and his wife on Friday reported earning $610,702 in 2021, almost the same amount the couple said they earned the year before, according to copies of their tax return made public by the White House.

The release of their return — which comes just days before Monday’s deadline for Americans to file their taxes with the I.R.S. — shows that Mr. Biden and the first lady, Jill Biden, paid $150,439 in federal income tax, for an effective rate of 24.6 percent.

Most of the money Mr. Biden and his wife earned came from his $400,000 annual salary for being president and two pensions. He also reported almost $62,000 from an S corporation controlled by the Bidens, which received the money in 2021 from two publishing houses, Simon & Schuster and Flatiron Books.

🙄NBC: US intel community confused by Biden's 'genocide' declaration

President Joe Biden has apparently startled US intelligence agencies by claiming that Russia is committing "genocide" in Ukraine.

Two State Department officials tell NBC News that Biden's seemingly off-noscript remark during a domestic policy speech in Iowa made it harder for the agency, which is tasked with making formal determinations of genocide and war crimes through an independent legal process, "to credibly do its job."

Intelligence reports on Ukraine currently do not support a "genocide" designation, officials said.

“Genocide includes a goal of destroying an ethnic group or nation and, so far, that is not what we are seeing,” a US intelligence official told NBC News.

And while some officials were caught off guard, others saw it coming:

“These aren’t gaffes. He’s doing this very purposefully,” said one person close to the White House.

🤔 Meanwhile, troops from the Special Air Service (SAS) unit of the British Army are said to be training local forces in Ukraine for the first time since the conflict in the country, The Times reports.

Serving British special forces have carried out military training exercises with two battalions stationed in and around Kiev, Ukrainian commanders are cited as saying.

The military trainers arrived to teach Ukraine’s recruits how to use UK-supplied next-generation light anti-tank weapons (NLAWs), among others.

While former British soldiers, marines and special forces commandos have been working as training contractors and volunteers in Ukraine, this is the first report of such instruction being offered by serving UK forces.

The British Defence Ministry has so far refused to confirm Ukrainian commanders’ accounts.
