⚡️📹 Mariupol residents don’t believe Ukrainian propaganda, which is persuading people that the Russian Armed Forces hit the city's Drama Theatre. A young man noticed that almost all the windows of a restaurant located close to the theatre were still intact despite the blast. He says, "if the explosion happened outside, everything would have been blow apart." The man also claimed the woman who was in this restaurant before the blast told him that the Azov radicals who'd come in the restaurant kicked people out.
It’s not the first time when witnesses of the Drama Theatre explosion have confirmed that the blast had been prepared by Ukrainian nationalists

🗣 US president Joe Biden's request to Congress for an additional $33 billion in security, economic and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine is not an escalation to the conflict, a senior US defense official said on Thursday.
"Not all of that $33 billion is going to be dedicated to defense," the defense official told a press briefing. "I mean, it's worth $16 billion will be dedicated to the Defense Department's ability to continue to help Ukraine and again, you'll hear more from the Secretary about that later, but it's a continuation, it's not an escalation."
The defense official insisted there had been no change to Biden's policy of not deploying US forces to Ukraine or to the US stance on imposing a no fly zone.

Democrats have prepared new legislation in both chambers of Congress to punish major oil corporations for market manipulation and price gouging.
🗣 "The House and the Senate have been hard at work for weeks [on the new legislation]," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said. "Big Oil has exploited the market place. They are hoarding the windfall. There is no excuse for the big oil companies to price-gouge. They have made $200 billion in profits over the past year.”
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said the new legislation would strengthen the powers and expand the staff and capabilities of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to expose and enforce penalties on major oil companies for their price gouging and other practices.

📊 The US should prepare for a recession after avoiding a depression from the coronavirus outbreak, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said on Thursday as she urged policy-makers to insulate the economy from the next downturn — after growth turned negative in the first quarter of the year.
🗣 "It is imperative to build and maintain an effective and efficient set of recession remedies," Yellen said in a speech after the United States posted a 1.4% decline in gross domestic product (GDP) growth between January and March. "Over the long run, such measures will reduce volatility while [they] also lessen the depth of future recessions."
