🔎Donald Trump’s lawyers, requesting to reverse their client’s $10,000-per-day contempt fine, provided a New York judge Friday with an affidavit in which the former president claims he didn’t turn over subpoenaed documents to the state attorney general’s office because he doesn’t have them.

Judge Arthur Engoron criticized the lack of detail in Trump's affidavit, which amounted to two paragraphs, saying that he should have explained the methods he uses to store his records and the efforts he made to locate the subpoenaed files.

Trump, who is appealing the contempt ruling, said he believed any documents would be in the possession of his company, the Trump Organization.

➡️Black Lives Matter's non-profit foundation has received criticism over a lack of transparency. In its 2020 impact report, the BLM Foundation said it raised $90 million; spent $8.4 million on operating expenses, and donated $21.7 million to local groups, spurring questions about where the rest of the money went.

Attorney General Todd Rokita from Indiana has sued the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation as part of his investigation into whether donations from state residents were used for legitimate purposes and not for the group leader’s “personal benefit.”

“Protecting Indiana consumers from this house of cards is critical,” said Mr. Rokita in a Thursday statement. “There are concerning patterns of behavior from this organization, and we will do what it takes—including this lawsuit—to get to the bottom of it.”

🌱🛢Petrochemical companies violated the law with what he called their “historic and ongoing efforts to deceive the public,” California’s Attorney General Rob Bonta said. Last Thursday, Bonta subpoenaed ExxonMobil as part of what he called a first-of-its-kind broader investigation into the petroleum industry for its alleged role in causing a global plastic pollution crisis, allegations that the company called meritlessly.

Attorney General Rob Bonta said the industry for decades has encouraged the development and use of petroleum-based plastic products while seeking to minimize public understanding that their widespread use harms the environment and public health.

“Every week, we consume the equivalent of a credit card's worth of plastic through the water we drink, the food we eat, and the air we breathe,” he said, citing a 2019 study for the World-Wide Fund for Nature environmental group.

😟 In an amended lawsuit, the parents of Gabby Petito, a young woman who went missing in August 2021 during a cross-country trip with her fiance Brian Laundrie and was found dead a month later, allege that during the search for Gabby, Laundrie's parents were aware that their son had killed her. They also assert that the Laundries knew "the whereabouts of her body."

Joseph and Nichole Petito are amending their lawsuit against the Laundrie family to say that they went to Fort De Soto Park in the Tampa Bay area just days before Gabby was reported missing.
