🧐🌪💥💨Carbon Dioxide Levels in May broke the record for the amount of planet-warming carbon dioxide in the atmosphere in human history. CO2 levels are now 50% higher than the preindustrial average before humans began the widespread burning of fossil fuels in the late 19th century.

As the amount of carbon dioxide increases, the planet keeps warming, with effects like increased flooding, more extreme heat, drought, and worsening wildfires that are already being experienced by millions of people worldwide.

“We can see the impacts of climate change around us every day. The relentless increase of carbon dioxide measured at Mauna Loa is a stark reminder that we need to take urgent, serious steps to become a more Climate Ready Nation,” said National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrator Rick Spinrad, Ph.D.

🗣🗯Employees at a Starbucks in New Orleans voted to form a union, becoming the first of the coffee giant’s locations in Louisiana to unionize.

Ballots were cast Friday and Saturday 11-1 in favor of joining Workers United, which represents the unionized Starbucks stores, WWNO-FM reported. Two ballots were challenged, the station said.

Barista Caitlyn Pierce and others wanted to unionize because of regular shifts where they were overworked and understaffed, the station reported.

“I’m feeling amazing,” Pierce said. “This is something we worked so hard for and it’s just great to finally get here.”

The brewing Tory rebellion to oust UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson stems from the "party gate." Ever since the scandal erupted, there has been speculation on whether the requisite number of letters to trigger a no-confidence vote would be sent to Sir Graham Brady, chairman of the 1922 Committee.

According to a former cabinet minister, there is an "80 percent chance" of a leadership challenge after two by-elections slated for 23 June: Wakefield and Tiverton and Honiton.
