😗👾Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez criticized other Democrats for their opposition to using the term “Latinx,” as many Democrats worry that it alienates voters.

“In the spirit of pride, I wanted to have a note on gender inclusivity in the Spanish language,” Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said in a video posted to her Instagram Story. “People sometimes like to make a lot of drama over the term ‘Latinx.’ But even before ‘Latinx,’ people were trying to do this, like, use an at [@ symbol] to have the ‘A’ and the ‘O’ [in ‘Latino’ and ‘Latina’] together.”

The congresswoman, whose father is from the Bronx and mother is from Puerto Rico, told her supporters that if her colleagues are so worried about using the term, they need to rethink their priorities.

At least 6,000 people, according to Reuters witnesses, left the border city of Tapachula. Mexico's National Institute for Migration did not provide an estimate of the group's size and provided no additional comment on the caravan.

"These are countries collapsing from poverty and violence," he said. "We strongly urge those who attend the summit ... to look at what is happening, and what could happen even more often in Mexico, if something is not done soon." Said Caravan organizer Luis Garcia Villagran.

🔎New Yorkers under age 21 will be prohibited from buying semiautomatic rifles under a new law signed Monday by Gov. Kathy Hochul, making the state one of the first to pass a major gun control initiative following a wave of deadly mass shootings.

“In New York, we are taking bold, strong action. We’re tightening red flag laws to keep guns away from dangerous people,” Hochul said at a press conference in the Bronx.

The governor said New York would continue to invest in the prevention of gun-related crimes by partnering with local communities and strengthening laws by putting pressure on Congress.

☀️🪫President Joe Biden ordered emergency measures Monday to boost crucial supplies for U.S. solar manufacturers and declared a two-year tariff exemption on solar panels from Southeast Asia as he attempted to jumpstart progress toward his climate change fighting goals.

Biden utilized the defense of production law after some complaints about the supply chain in the solar energy industry.

The Commerce Department announced in March that it was scrutinizing imports of solar panels from Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Cambodia, concerned that products from those countries are skirting U.S. anti-dumping rules that limit imports from China.

🔥🔥 A child has been arrested and charged with setting a fire at a playground in Montgomery County, Maryland, on Sunday.

Flames were seen coming from a playground on Fisher Avenue at Milford Mill Road, near the Maggie Nightingale Library in Poolesville, Sunday afternoon, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer.

He said no injuries were reported and firefighters extinguished the fire by 5:36 p.m. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue said the fire is suspected to have started with the burning of a paper bag and sandwich container. Flames then ignited rubber mulch and spread to nearby playground equipment, causing an estimated $75,000 in damages.

The return to near-normal applied everywhere in Beijing except for one district and part of another, where the outbreak lingered. Schools, which partially reopened earlier, will thoroughly do so on June 13, followed by kindergartens on June 20.

Museums, cinemas, and gyms were allowed to operate at up to 75% capacity. Delivery drivers could once again bring packages to a customer’s door rather than leave them to be picked up at the entrances to apartment compounds.

⛽️📈In 10 states, a gallon of gas now costs more than $5. According to the most recent data from AAA, U.S. gas prices hit a new record on Monday, with a gallon of regular gas costing an average of $4.865 (not adjusting for inflation).

California has the highest average price of $6.34, but ten states have now surpassed the $5 mark. “People are still fueling up, despite these high prices,” AAA spokesperson Andrew Gross said in a news release. “At some point, drivers may change their daily driving habits or lifestyle due to these high prices, but we are not there yet.”

According to AAA, consumers are paying more around the country: no state’s average is below $4.28. Parts of the West, Midwest, and Northeast see some of the nation’s highest gas costs.

⬇️ The number of Americans who view former US President Donald Trump as “solely” or “mainly” responsible for the events of January 6th, 2021, has plummeted over the past year, according to a new poll released by NBC News.

❓ When the same questions were asked in January 2021, a whopping 28% of respondents said Trump was solely responsible and 24% said he was mainly to blame. Those numbers have since shifted to 17% and 28%, respectively, according to the results released by NBC. The number of Americans who believe Trump was “not really” responsible for Jan. 6 has since increased from 29% to 35%, the poll indicates.

🤔 The new results come as the House committee responsible for investigating the events of January 6th, 2021, is set to reveal its findings in a primetime hearing Thursday night.

▪️ The Russian Armed Forces have hit two command posts, three firing positions of artillery batteries, as well as 18 areas of Ukrainian manpower and military equipment concentration using high-precision air-based missiles.

▪️ Operational-tactical aviation have hit 65 areas of AFU manpower and military equipment concentration.

▪️ Russian air defence units have shot down 12 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles overnight.

▪️ Missile troops and artillery have hit 39 command posts, 49 AFU artillery firing positions, as well as 426 areas of manpower and military equipment concentration.
