🔻Matt Rosendale wins the GOP nomination in the eastern Montana U.S. House race. Rosendale, who currently serves as Montana's sole member of the U.S. House of Representatives, cruised to victory over fellow candidates in Tuesday's GOP primary election for the state's newly-created second seat.

The state gained the second House seat following the 2020 federal census, after 30 years as a single statewide district. The new eastern congressional district includes the cities of Billings, Glendive, Great Falls, Helena, and Miles City.

Rosendale told MTN news: "It's a true honor and a privilege not just to get elected but then to go through, serve for two years, have people look at how you’re performing, and then step up and say, 'Yeah, we appreciate what you’re doing, and we want to see you go back again.

🗽New York City Mayor Eric Adams' approval rating falls to 29%, with a majority of residents saying the city is headed in the wrong direction.

"If New Yorkers had a honeymoon with Mayor Adams, it was brief, and it's clearly over. Only 29% give him a positive rating for the job he's doing as mayor, compared to 64% who give him a negative rating," Don Levy, director of the Siena College Research Institute, said in a statement accompanying the poll. "About 40% of adults over 65 and Black New Yorkers view him positively, but his positive rating does not exceed 33% with respondents based on party, gender, political ideology, or borough."

The poll, conducted in conjunction with Spectrum News and its NY1 affiliate, also found that 76% of residents are concerned they could be the victim of a violent crime.

🍋🍋The owner of a commercial nursery has won a $1.2 million judgment against the Florida Department of Agriculture in the latest verdict against the state agency for destroying citrus trees in the 2000s during an attempt to stop the spread of costly tree diseases.

A jury in Orlando last week determined the state agency had destroyed more than 160,000 citrus plants in an effort to stop citrus greening, and Gary Mahon deserved the $1.2 million as compensation at fair market value. Mahon's company, Pokey’s Lake Gem Citrus Nursery, cultivates fruit trees in Zellwood, Florida.

Tens of thousands of homeowners in Broward, Lee, and Palm Beach counties also have won class-action lawsuits against the state over their destroyed trees, and compensations varied by county. A case in Miami-Dade County is still pending.

🍔 🗣Angry Shake Shack customers are urging the fast-food chain to cut ties with the controversial company that makes its burger buns, Martin's.

The buns have become a concern among customers after local Pennsylvania news site Billy Penn reported that the people behind the bun company had donated thousands of dollars to the front-running Republican candidate for Pennsylvania governor, Sen. Doug Mastriano.

Mastriano is regarded as a far-right Republican and recently received President Trump's backing in the race for governor, according to NBC News. Billy Penn reported that he gained popularity as a Trump-supporting election denier with Christian nationalist beliefs.

In California's open primaries, in which the top two finishers, regardless of party, move on to November's general election, Reps. David Valadao and Young Kim are two Republicans who have won tough races.

Los Angeles mayoral race advances to runoff: The race to be Los Angeles' next mayor won't be decided until November, with either businessman Rick Caruso or Rep. Karen Bass able to win more than 50% of the vote on Tuesday night. Caruso and Bass both ran on the need to tackle homelessness and crime.

🧐🔎House Democrats are looking to pass a wide-ranging slate of gun reforms this week as a rushed response to the growing number of mass shootings since the ones in Texas and New York. But a vast majority of those requests to curb gun violence aren’t on the table in bipartisan Senate talks, with Republican negotiators saying any potential deal will need to be narrower.

The “Protecting Our Kids Act,” bill includes banning high-capacity magazines, raising the age limit from 18 to 21 for certain semi-automatic firearms, and codifying executive orders that restrict bump stocks devices that allow semi-automatic rifles to fire more rounds of ammunition faster and “ghost guns” that don’t have unique serial numbers.

But Senate Republicans won’t support bans or heavy limitations on purchases of firearms, and they’re unlikely to support a federal red flag law.

▪️ The Russian Armed Forces has destroyed an AFU training centre where foreign mercenaries were being retrained and coordinated near Novograd-Volynskyi, Zhytomir Region using a high-precision air-based missile strike.

▪️ The Russian Armed Forces have destroyed two command posts, an Osa-AKM anti-aircraft missile system near Razdolovka in the DPR, an ammunition depot near Paraskovievka in the LPR, and 23 areas of AFU manpower and military equipment concentration using high-precision air-based missiles.

▪️ Operational-tactical and army aviation have hit 18 areas of AFU manpower and military equipment concentration.

▪️ Russian air defence units have shot down Ukrainian Air Force Su-25 aircraft near Mazanovka in the Donetsk People's Republic.
