The average US price of regular-grade gasoline spiked 39 cents over the past three weeks to $5.10 per gallon - $1.97 higher than it was one year ago.
Nationwide, the highest average price for regular-grade gas is in the San Francisco Bay area, at $6.55 per gallon. The lowest average is in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at $4.43 per gallon. According to a nationwide survey, the average price of diesel rose 20 cents over three weeks, to $5.86 a gallon.

Country music superstar Toby Keith announced on Sunday that he has been diagnosed with stomach cancer.
“Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer,” Keith says on his social media accounts. “I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation, and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax. I am looking forward to spending this time with my family, but I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait.”
Keith, 60, burst onto the scene in the early 1990s. His self-noscriptd album was his first release in 1993. “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” on his first album was the first of 20 No. 1 singles.

Members of the House committee investigating the Capitol riot said Sunday they have uncovered enough evidence for the Justice Department to consider an unprecedented criminal indictment against former President Donald Trump for seeking to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
The committee announced that Trump's campaign manager, Bill Stepien, is among the witnesses scheduled to testify at a hearing Monday that focuses on Trump's effort to spread his lies about a stolen election.
Monday's witness list also includes BJay Pak, the top federal prosecutor in Atlanta who left his position on Jan 4, 2021, a day after an audio recording was made public in which Trump called him a "never-Trumper," and Chris Stirewalt, the former political editor for Fox News.

🔥 Tundra fire slows, but still aiming at Alaska Native village
A large fire burning in the tundra of southwest Alaska continued to move toward an Alaska Native village on Saturday, but fire managers said its pace had slowed. Tundra is a treeless area covered with low-lying plants, and the fire was being fed by extremely dry grass and brush filled with alders and willow.
There are no mandatory evacuation orders, but about 700 residents of St. Mary’s and the nearby community of Pitkas Point were told to prepare in case they needed to leave.
Boats have been used to shuttle firefighters to protect structures upriver of St. Mary’s. Crews also have also been working to protect Alaska Native properties.

California-based Astra on Sunday launched two shoebox-size NASA satellites from Cape Canaveral in a modest mission to improve hurricane forecasts, but the second stage of the company's low-cost booster malfunctioned before reaching orbit and the payloads were lost.
NASA is paying $8 million for three Astra launches and about $32 million for development and testing of the cubesats and one year of data analysis.
The goal of NASA's TROPICS mission is to monitor tropical storm development in near real-time by flying over hurricanes and other major systems every 45 to 50 minutes and beaming back temperature profiles, precipitation, water vapor and cloud ice data.

The Korean series became Netflix’s biggest series ever at launch. According to a message from director Hwang Dong-hyuk, the second season will see the return of Gi-hun and the mysterious Front Man. Squid Game is coming out by the end of 2023 or 2024, and will feature more diabolical games.
While Squid Game has been a massive worldwide hit, in April Netflix reported its first drop in subscribers in 10 years. That was quickly followed by layoffs and a reported tightening of production budgets practically across the board. Netflix is also focused on limiting password sharing, and has told employees it will launch ad-supported streaming by the end of this year.
