🔫👮Law enforcement officers are investigating shots fired near the entrance to the Lackland Air Force Base in the San Antonio Joint Base in Texas.

"At this time, there is not an active shooter situation. Officers are continuing to investigate but there is no threat to the public," the San Antonio Police Department said via Twitter.

Military facilities near the incident have been placed on lockdown in response to the situation. Base personnel are working with the San Antonio Police Department to ensure a safe environment.

Gov. Kathy Hochul vowed to protect abortion access for all after signing a six-bill package including measures aimed at protecting abortion seekers and providers from out-of-state legal actions.

"Reproductive rights are human rights, and today we are signing landmark legislation to protect further them and all who wish to access them in New York State," Hochul, a Democrat, said in a statement.

😭😰A young boy died after getting stuck between a dryer and washing machine while playing hide and seek. Authorities rushed to his grandparents’ home on Friday evening after the child, aged between eight and ten, became trapped.

Thomas County Sheriff’s Office Captain Tim Watkins said it is believed the little boy, who is originally from Jewett in Texas, was trying to hide behind the appliances when he got stuck between them. After looking for him for about five to ten minutes, the family discovered him and immediately began performing CPR, as reported by WCTV.

The little boy became responsive, albeit briefly before he lost consciousness again. He was transported to a local area, where he was pronounced dead.

"We stress today the urgency of moving faster," Kerry said, stressing Mexico's responsibility as the 15th largest economy in the world, as well as highlighting its abundance in natural resources to create and export clean energy.

This is expected to include increasing solar energy projects at the state energy company (COMFEL.UL) alongside the private sector, enhancing electric mobility, and capturing methane gas.

😳❌The U.S. government and Fisher-Price are warning parents not to put their kids to sleep in a number of newborn and toddler rockers after at least 13 deaths linked to the products.

The 13 deaths occurred between 2009 and 2021, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The deaths occurred with the Infant-to-Toddler and Newborn-to-Toddler rockers manufactured by Fisher-Price.

The company has sold more than 17 million of its rockers across the globe since the 1990s. No recall has been issued for the rockers linked to the 13 deaths. Parents and caregivers should always try to lay an infant down to sleep on a firm, flat surface, preferably in a crib, bassinet, or play yard. Inclined resting locations, such as rockers and swings, should not be used, the CPSC warned.

📲Elon Musk will address Twitter employees Thursday for the first time since the billionaire and Tesla CEO offered $44 billion to buy the social media platform, the company said Tuesday.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal announced an all-hands meeting to employees in an email on Monday, saying they'd be able to submit questions in advance.

Musk reached a deal to acquire Twitter in April, but he has repeatedly clashed with the company over the number of bots, or fake accounts, that exist on the social media platform. Musk said he was putting the deal on hold on May 13, saying he needed more data about those bot accounts from the company. It's unclear if this week's meeting means that the two sides have come closer together to resolve those issues.

The researchers found that whenever these plants are damaged, the amount of iridoid (insect repellent) produced increases. In fact, once damaged, the leaves emitted 20 times more iridoids into the air compared to when they were left untouched.

Cats will get cozy with the plants, rubbing and rolling themselves against the leaves in order to spread the insect repellent all over themselves, which helps them survive in the great outdoors.

🧐 Only about 3 in 10 Americans believe transgender women and girls should be allowed to participate in female sports, according to a new poll from the Washington Post-University of Maryland, which comes a week after Louisiana became the 18th state to pass a transgender athlete ban last week.

▪️ The poll, which surveyed 1,503 people across the country on 4-17 May, found that 55% of Americans don’t believe transgender women and girls should be allowed to compete in high school sports.

▪️ Almost 60% of those surveyed were opposed to transgender women and girls’ participation in college and professional sports.

▪️ Americans were less likely to oppose transgender women and girls’ participation in youth sports, with about a third of those surveyed saying transgender women and girls should be allowed to compete, while 17% said they did not have an opinion.
