🛰Virgin Orbit launches 7 satellites in 1st night mission
The company launched a rocket carrying seven satellites from California’s Mojave Air and Space Port early Saturday morning at 1:49 AM ET (10:49PM local), marking the small satellite launcher’s first successful night mission. Virgin Orbit brought the satellites into low Earth orbit with the help of its Boeing 747 carrier aircraft called Cosmic Girl, which had the LauncherOne rocket attached beneath one of its wings.
Virgin Orbit is owned by the British billionaire Richard Branson, and isn’t to be confused with Virgin Galactic, the company’s separate branch for commercial spaceflight. The company went public via a SPAC (special purpose acquisition company) merger last year. While it has completed all its launches from Southern California so far, Virgin Orbit plans on taking off from Cornwall, England later this year.

Three people were rescued, the search for the rest of the people continues. The ship broke into two halves and completely sank. A rescue ship, a plane and two helicopters have been sent to the scene of the shipwreck, but Typhoon Chaba has made it difficult to conduct the search and rescue operation. On Friday, the Hong Kong Observatory announced the eighth level of a storm warning on a 10-point scale.
According to China Central Television, the Hong Kong Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre received a message at 07:25 local time (23:25 GMT) that an emergency occurred with a cargo vessel about 300 kilometers (186 miles) southwest of Hong Kong in South China Sea for an unknown reason, breaking the ship into two parts.

🛢 Biden offshore drilling proposal would allow up to 11 sales
President Joe Biden’s administration on Friday proposed up to 10 oil and gas lease sales in the Gulf of Mexico and one off the Alaska coast over the next five years — going against the Democrat’s climate promises but scaling back a Trump-era plan that called for dozens of offshore drilling opportunities including in undeveloped areas.
The proposal brought immediate backlash from both environmentalists — who accused Biden of betraying the climate cause — and oil industry officials and allies, who said it would do little to help counter high energy prices.
Biden in recent weeks has criticized oil producers and refiners for maximizing profits and making “more money than God,” rather than increasing production in response to higher prices as the economy recovers from the pandemic.

✈️ Delta Air Lines offered $10,000 to passengers willing to give up their seat on overbooked domestic flight
Passengers aboard a recent Delta Air Lines flight departing Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids, Michigan, were treated to a tempting offer: $10,000 for getting off the plane. The carrier announced the flight had been oversold and that eight volunteers stood to receive $10,000 each in cash or electronic payment.
In 2017, CNBC's Everett Rosenfeld published a leaked internal Delta bulletin in which the carrier announced it would increase its payment cap for voluntary denied boardings from $1,350 to $9,950.
After canceling hundreds of flights over the previous week, Delta Air Lines on Sunday announced a temporary fare change waiver ahead of Fourth of July weekend. The carrier is allowing passengers with airfare booked during the busy travel window to change their reservations for free in anticipation of operational obstacles over the holiday weekend.

💰 Britney Spears’ Attorney Says Tri Star Co-Created Conservatorship, Made $18 Million From it
Her attorney said in a new court filing that her 13-year-long conservatorship was co-created by Tri Star Sports & Entertainment Group, which profited by $18 million from the pop star’s estate. The management company — which now boasts clients from the Kardashians to rapper Travis Scott — has long denied involvement in the abusive conservatorship, which was terminated by a judge last November.
While the surveillance allegations have largely focused on Spears’ father and the security team he was alleged to have hired, Tri Star has been at the center of extensive claims of financial mismanagement.
More than seven months after the pop star’s conservatorship was terminated, her legal battle persists. The next hearing for these matters is set to take place July 13 at the Los Angeles Superior Courthouse.

💧 Prosecutors seek to keep charges alive in Flint water crisis
Prosecutors signaled Friday that they would pursue the same charges against former Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder and eight others in the Flint water crisis, just a few days after the state Supreme Court said indictments must be dismissed. Nine people were indicted in 2021, including Snyder, who faced two misdemeanor counts of willful neglect of duty.
In 2014, Flint managers appointed by Snyder took the city out of a regional water system and began using the Flint River to save money while a new pipeline to Lake Huron was being built. But the river water wasn’t treated to reduce its corrosive qualities. Lead broke off from old pipes and contaminated the city’s system for more than a year.
Prosecutors still face other hurdles, including the statute of limitations on some charges and the seizure of millions of pages of Snyder administration documents that were confidential.

🇬🇧Rebel Tory MPs are being threatened with deselection if they change the rules to hold another no-confidence vote in Prime Minister Boris Johnson this month, the Daily Mail reports.
"No 10 is in such a mess, they are desperate," one rebel MP was quoted as saying.
Johnson survived a no-confidence vote last month by a narrow margin of 211 to 148. Under existing rules his leadership cannot be challenged again for a year. These rules, however, can be changed by the 1922 Committee of backbenchers, which sets rules for the parliamentary party.
The political turmoil comes as a date for the committee election is to be set up next Wednesday.
Downing Street has already warned that the 1922 elections will be the scene of a "proxy war" between pro and anti-Boris Johnson MPs.

⚡️⚡️Kiev launched premeditated strikes on Russia's Belgorod and Kursk overnight, Russian Defense Ministry says
UPDATE: The defense ministry revealed that Ukraine had used Tochka-U ballistic missiles with cluster munitions and Tu-143 Reis UAVs to target residential areas in the two Russian cities, where there are no military facilities.
The air defenses managed to intercept the cluster munitions over Belgorod, however, the debris fell on a residential building. So far, three people were killed in Belgorod and at least four, including a child, injured.
Two explosives-laden drones were downed before they reached Kursk, the MoD added.
