Billionaire Jeff Bezos has slammed Joe Biden's recent appeal to gas station owners to reduce their prices, claiming that the ask does not reflect how a market economy works and won't fix inflationary problem.

On 2 July, Biden appealed to petrol station owners via Twitter, asking them to unilaterally reduce their prices. He claimed that the amounts charged were not reflecting the costs gas stations pay when purchasing gasoline from suppliers.

Bezos, however, disagreed that the petrol stations were responsible for what is now known in the country as the "pain at the pump" – the feeling an average US car owner experiences seeing a gallon of gasoline as high as $6.27. He further stressed that with attitudes like Biden’s, the White House won't end the current decades-high inflation in the country.

🏍 Ducati's first electric motorcycle is designed for MotoE racing

The V21L prototype has that classic Ducati look but is swathed in carbon fiber and packs a 150HP electric motor with a 18kWh battery. As detailed in an announcement last year, Ducati will be the exclusive supplier of all 18 bikes used for FIM MotoE World Cup racing from 2023-2026.

The V21L can be charged to 80 percent in just 45 minutes and has enough range to complete the required seven laps of key GP tracks. It has reportedly hit speeds of up to 171 MPH at the Mugello MotoGP Circuit in Tuscany. 

The e-motorbike is quite a bet by (and on) Ducati considering it's never done one before, but the company said it used its extensive racing experience to design the model. At the same time, it'll take racing lessons learned back to its consumer models.

Former R&B superstar R Kelly was placed on suicide watch at Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) Brooklyn where he is being held after he was sentenced to 30 years for using his fame to abuse young girls sexually.

The US Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn says the artist remains on suicide watch “for his own safety” after a psychological assessment. However, R Kelly's lawyer Jennifer Bonjean claims her client was placed on suicide watch for "purely punitive reasons". "MDC Brooklyn is being run like a gulag. MDC has a policy of placing high-profile individuals under the harsh conditions of suicide watch whether they are suicidal or not," the lawyer said in a statement.

The singer is set to be transferred to Illinois in the coming weeks, where he is due to stand trial on child pornography, sexual abuse and other charges in Chicago in August.
