Impoverished Britons are struggling to afford a whole new range of goods which used to be considered everyday essentials and are now seen as luxuries. Cheese, butter, baby food and meat are all now at risk of being stolen from shops and, in the face of rocketing price rises, supermarket chain Tesco has fitted such items with security tags.

One shopper was banned from entering any branch of the Co-op chain in Cambridgeshire after he stole meat, washing up liquid, coffee and ice cream worth more than £460 from three stores

On Wednesday, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, commenting on calls made by a number of western countries that are taking part in the G20 to exclude Moscow from the summit, noted that he was not aware of any machinations to stop him participating in the forthcoming G20 meetings in Bali.

🗣 The Russian foreign minister added that that if any such attempts had been made, the Indonesian government simply ignored them.

The remarks came after talks between Lavrov and his Vietnamese counterpart Bui Thanh Son, held in Hanoi, Vietnam, from where the Russian foreign policy chief will travel to Bali, Indonesia, to take part in the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting, which starts on Thursday

😳 Tiara Mack, the first openly gay black woman to be elected to the Rhode Island state senate, thought that she might win her voters’ hearts by making a TikTok video noscriptd 'A promised senator thirst trap at Block Island', in which the Democrat could be seen twerking upside down.

It certainly attracted attention, causing something of a brouhaha among netizens - to put it mildly. However, the senator was unfazed by the condemnation which just seemed to spur her on to further heights as she tweeted: "Damn. Twerking upside down really makes the conservative, unhinged internet accounts pop off on a Monday."

🇨🇦Colored hair, face tattoos, men wearing skirts: Canada's new military dress instructions

"Respect, diversity and inclusiveness": The Canadian Armed Forces has introduced updated regulations on personal grooming.

face tattoos are allowed;

facial hair may be grown to any length, but it should be "neatly groomed and symmetrical";

a backpack can be slung over the left shoulder, to leave the right arm "free to salute";

men are allowed to wear blouses and skirts as a part of the uniform;

restrictions on hair length and color have been lifted;

If bright hair has "a negative operational impact during field operations or training", a soldier can be asked to cover the head with a scarf.

"The Canadian Forces Dress Instructions are about 50 years old and so the policy as a whole was overdue for revision," Canada's Department of National Defence says.

The new regulations will come into effect in September.

🏃🚴🏊‍♂The triathlon has become the first British sport to ban transgender women from female competitions

"We concluded that the triathlon is a gender-affected sport and that means that athletes who were born male have an advantage over athletes who were born female and this advantage is significant in swimming, cycling and running," said British Triathlon chief executive Andy Salmon.

The British Triathlon Federation is also changing their men's category to 'open', meaning that it will be open to all athletes - men and transgender athletes.
